He has scissors for hands (inexplicably always sharpened), he can’t take his clothes off (literally, they are a part of him), he is practically molested by an older woman, he is forced to take part in a robbery because of his mech hands and that results in him being driven out of town by a pitchfork mob, where Edward accidentally turns the regular creepy castle on the hill into a murder castle on the hill. And none of that would have happened had the mom not been selling (poorly) a makeup-based pyramid scheme door to door.

No but for real, the gore is the least scary part of Sweeney Todd too. The judge keeps a young girl locked in a room so that he can look at her whenever he wants.
Hearing this song in the Beetlejuice 2 trailer brought back so many good memories of this scene.

Saw this movie in the theater when it first came out. This was a super bizarre scene. 10-year-old me didn't know what to make of it. But when those shrimp hands came out of the dishes, I jumped a mile out of my seat - it was terrifying!

I just found out that this song is returning in new film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. So happy practical effects are being used again in the new film. This film is terrific. Love all the actors, especially Catherine and Michael. Keaton is so good at comedy and drama...one of the best. Best Batman in my opinion too...love the guy. God bless you, Michael

Everything about this movie was so strange, so peculiar and yet it was pure gold entertainment. A memorable classic. From the house scenes to the shrunken head scene through the entire film, it was a crowd favorite for sure. Also a bit of nostalgia. Reflected upon fondly.

The shrimp cocktail attacking is the best jump scare ever -- actually 100% unexpected yet relevant to the scene. So freaking rare for a jump scare.

Actually he was. If you watch from 0:30 to 0:41 before he starts drumming he's clearly confused as to why he's singing and waving his handkerchief around. And you can see when he's drumming he's fighting the possession spell, smiling, confused, and back again.
