Omitting the “man” at the end was the perfect way to convey Odysseus’ true horror over what he just did. It was perfect!

That definitely changed the whole meaning with the last lyric being ominously omitted :0
The fact that you didn't finish the song with the original final lyric is very ominously foreboding yet beautiful, especially from a storytelling aspect in relation to the Odyssey, with the act of Odysseus murdering Hector's son being the first of many steps to the king of Ithaca questioning whether his actions truly make him a man or are devolving him into a "monster". Love this!! ❤
I love the original version, but I also think ending without the final lyric is also a wonderful idea.
Yeah, the fact that he didn't finish the sentence makes think that we, as listeners, are the baby he killed, and we can't hear the last word because us (as the baby) are already dead
another interesting aspect of just a man is also, when Odysseus make up examples of things becoming worse, like a comet becomes a meteor, he's also convincing himself to kill the son of Hector who'll grow up into a vengeful man, literally a man into a monster
But It just doesn't make sense in the context of the story,Odysseus Isn't suppose to realized he become a Monster this early

I love the ending. You can feel the sadness and horror Odysseus must’ve felt, processing what he’s done.
I have reached the point of obsession over Epic the musical. I have listened to both sagas more times than I can count and literally had a dream about this song last night.

I like how the end, when you don't end the sentence and just walk back, it is as if Odysseus got the realisation that he was, indeed, a monster

This captures everything about that moment in beautiful, gutteral detail. The vocal shift in the latter half is just brilliant. And at end when he couldn't bring himself to say "man" because what he has just done is so horrifying.... Perfection.

Stunning creative choice at the end, going silent and then backing away slowly with a lost stare into empty nothingness, brilliantly depicting the sense of being simply lost that Odysseus himself must be feeling at this point in the story. Brilliant work as always.

I think the fact you leave out the last word at the end of the song makes it all the more amazing, like a villain singing this song is stopped by someone trying to talk to them out of doing something bad and finally striking an emotional nerve.
