Great video Mark and what a result with the mot!! Just got belts done in time before it could have let go and it's all running like new now! Looking forward to seeing the next one Mark, stay safe and see you soon on the next one
Hi if the car works as it should and you have to change the timing belt kit, it's just a matter of having the same ratio between the lower and upper wheel before you start and when you're done? So it doesn't matter where you put the markers? And the engine doesn't have to be in tdc? Or have I got everything wrong?
I did a KA recently and I use a £25 cam locking and crank pulley lock. Worked a great, although it did mean taking the rocker cover off to lock the cam.
That is the problem with those locking kits you do have to take the rocker cover off and obviously change the gasket too. I think this wa6 is better to be honest.
Hi mate you really don’t have to take the rocker cover off to lock the cam there is a hole for a pin on the sprocket taking the cam cover off to lock the cam at the over end helps if the timing belt snapped and you need to Time it back up does that make sense?
Thank you so much for this video, ive got a 1.2l ford ka and I can hear it ticking and it recently started smelling like a 2 stroke 😂 guessing the belt has stretched as I didnt realise but the person i bought it from at 60k miles hadnt changed the belt so its got 80k miles on it 😬 changing it over this weekend, will definitely be watching this video a few times while I do it 😅
Hi mate no problem glad to help please out don’t forget you will need the locking tool set from eBay just search for fiat 500 timing belt locking tool good luck 🤞🏻
Re around 13 mins 40 seconds, the timing mark on the bottom pulley does not perfectly align with the mark on the crankcase as suggested. I know this from using the locking tool (which I purchased for around £12 from ebay) and in fact the video image shown at around 13 mins 40 seconds is about spot on in relation to using the locking tool (i.e. the mark on the bottom pulley is indeed slightly off from the mark on the crankcase), so please disregard that mark is my suggestion! If one does not have the correct lock tool, the best thing to do is create your own alignment points.

Well done Mark 👍 caught that belt just in time
Excellent job Mark - you did very well doing that, hope the owner was pleased. At least they will be able to see all that was involved!
Thanks Trevor yeah he was definitely pleased and this is why I video so much of what I do to show what’s involved 👍👍

@@ResurwreckAutosUK yeah it does. I always thought it was a bit overkill taking the rocker cover off. It seems much simpler the way you did it.
@@Love500 yeah definitely you will try now 🤣👍

@@ResurwreckAutosUK okay I'll grab that too, thank you!
Done mine and found the crank is actually a bit to the right of the mark on the cover. Used the timing tool and it only goes on when past the mark
Well done mark I always see ££££££ signs when I’ve done a cambelt and it starts😀😀
well done mate doing my belt Saturday

On other videos I've seen when the holder is used to keep the crank in place the line doesn't line up with the mark... Seems to go just past!
Nice Thursday vid! 👌
