I graduated in 71 also. I loved stills and csny music. Although the music was always there I was starting my life with getting married and getting a job. Wow what a ride it’s been. Everything has changed but the music is still here. When I’m in my truck I crank it up. I have a box full of CDs 💿 that I play. Thanks for the memories and the music. 🎶.
funny..... because as 'handsome' as you say he was.... his best music was produced as a result of getting rejected by the likes of Judy Collins, Rita Coolidge, et al. :)
I graduated high school in 71. We knew the music was great, but, looking back, there was just so much creativity and innovation, we missed some of it. Though this album received a lot of play, it was so good, that it was under appreciated.
I have been in intensive care in hospital for 10 days now after a motorcycle accident. Listening to youtube of CSN (live acoustic) Manassas, Gary Moore, Clapton, and many others has helped me getiing through this trumatic ordeal and pain. Michele and Min visit everday and bring love and cuddles. I ma a lucky man. God Bless you Stephen Stills.
Met him once on a golf course in L.A. Took him aside and told him he was truly my favorite 'music man'..He laughed , smiled and thanked me. I will always cherish his music..and him. Thanks ..
He's been a favorite of mine since the first time I heard his voice & remember when he was part of the Buffalo Springfield !! I graduated in 1969 I feel.so VERY fortunate to have grown up inn the time that I did ESPECIALLY the Music ☮️🕊️
I have always loved Steven's music,, his voice,, I watched the story he told about" What it's Worth" meant... Also he told the story about living South America until his teens... Quite interesting ,!!
A song about managing loss, in the strength of knowing that it has to be done. Many of Stephen's songs reflect this aspect of his life. Strength in adversity. And yes, this Manassas album is indeed a thing of wonderful memories to me as well, during my many years of 'flying solo'. Strange how much one can learn, doing so.
Taste is personal but he is the only musician whose every song is worth me listening to. Right from Suite, he caught me. 4+20 haunted me for several years. It seems to me that he was not a happy man for many years but I think we all hope he has found peace within himself now. An imperfect wonderful musician - I’m the same; minus the wonderful musician bit.
One of the coolest things to do is to dust off some ancient vinyl records from yesteryear. The album cover always tells a story and you can even remember where you were and who you were with when you first played it....
Gran compositor....voz personalisima......talento a raudales..........uno de mis musicos preferidos y además se atrevió von algún tema en español Nunca lo he visto en directo, pero si a Grahan Nash y David Crosby en un teatro de Malaga...sur de España
One of the few people Hendrix recorded with. For good reason. He knew a damn good musician when he heard them. Some of Hendrix's favorite guitarists were Stephen Stills, Terry Kath (Chicago) and Billy Gibbons (ZZ-Top)

Another verse appears on the "Carry On" box set in a demo medley with Hold On Tight: Then perhaps it is I, who is trapped by illusion For the first time in quite a while I doubt myself. All of these words, are like any other words Only echoes of shadows within myself. And I must learn to live....
Really love this version but am in love with the stripped down acoustic version "Just Roll Tape". Excellent pics B&W. Awesome job and thank you so much for posting.
Chris Hillan- of Byrds fame? I have a first cd from the FBB back when. Yet to listen to anything from Manassas - I will have to look for something by them from back when.
Same here. An Incredibly Talented Musician, especially on Acoustic Guitar, and yet a very Pretentious Man, IMO. Love the Art; Hate the Artist type of thing. I believe Stills should've stayed with Manassas and shelved CSN. Too many EGOS in CSN and/or Y.

One of the greatest songs of that era which means one of the greatest songs ever
Nobody writes great songs like this anymore
Love all of Stills Stuff and always will!!!!!!!
Stephen Stills is a musical genius and so handsome!❤

Stills is more appreciated as time goes on . What a great message , learn to live without you now .

another '71 grad....and yes. everything you said.
In a strange way us young people of that time had SOOOOO much good music to listen to, we were kind of spoiled with all of the quality...
Don’t all generations think the music of their youth was the best? No matter, this is great.
i must have done something right in a previous life to have this one delivered to me today, how many years later....and just when i needed to hear it.
Perfection. Period

I hope you recover soon. Music is medicine. Peace.
Hope you're in good shape by now Elizabeth, gary was a brilliant guitarist, and the lizzy a top band.
I hope you’re doing better!
I hope you are okay Elisabeth.
Stephen and Neil had a bond that Crosby and Nash never really fully understood.
Met him once on a golf course in L.A. Took him aside and told him he was truly my favorite 'music man'..He laughed , smiled and thanked me. I will always cherish his music..and him. Thanks ..

It’s amazing what / who we learn to live without as we move forward in life … As only Stephen Stills could put it.
Holds up exceedingly well….the whole album is just phenomenal….
Beautiful. Thanks. The entire "Manassas" album is awesome infact.
YES!!!
I spent my teenage years in Manassas..We were excited when the album came out.

What a great talent Steven is
A masterpiece. Thanks for posting it.
as good as it gets ....masterpiece
I can kick myself for not having seen Stills at Hofstra University in the early 90’s.
Extraordinarily beautiful, still, 45 years (!) after I first heard it (coincidentally while living in Manassas Virginia).
Ill leave my ❤ here. RIP Bruce
One of the best, Steven 💘
Great song of Stephens!!!!!

A wonderful talent who has brought me so much pleasure over the years. Thank you Stephen.
Most beautiful song by SS.
Great song from a magnificent ablum.✌
I grew up around Boulder when they were recording. My friend captain was at liquor store in Netherlands and neil was there.

Brilliant. One of the best "break-up" songs ever. It is even more haunting on "Just roll Tape".
Thanks for posting! Beautiful photos and such a wonderful song! ♥
He's someone I would love to meet. I love him with just a guitar.
Pretty song.
In Memory of David R. Margetts , 9-2-2019 , Rest In Peace my Kind and Gentle Friend .

My favorite version of my favorite Stiils song. Just amazing.
Another favorite of mine!

I LOVE in "Suite Judy Blue Eyes" when Stephen sings in Spanish a bout CUBA, Jewel of The Sea...
I LOVE YOU STEPHEN STILLS...!!! Voice, Guitar, Sounds
And so begins the task
I have dreaded the coming of for so long
I wait for the sun to remind
My body it needs resting
And I must learn to live without you now
I must learn to give only part some how
Camping on the edge of your city I wait
Hoping someday you might see beyond yourself
The shadows on the ceiling hard but not real
Like the bars that cage you within yourself
And I must learn to live without you now
A s Icannot learn to give only part some how
(Pedal Steel Guitar Solo)
And I must learn to live without you now
I must learn to give only part some how
All of these cages must and shall be set aside
They will only keep us from the knowing
Actors and stages now fall before the truth
And the love shared between remains growing
And I must learn to live without you now
As I cannot learn to give only part some how
Thank you my friend .....that was very thoughtful and I appreciate it.

Musical genius creating his own distinct generational sound.
Thank you for enriching our lives with your wonderful, beautiful, music. You are the very best . Much love brother.
Saw CSN at Bangor Maine in 1999.
Stills was awesome to watch play and sing.
I got him on the sidelines of a Patriots Jets football game at Harvard Stadium so he could take pictures of Joe Namath. I was on top of he world.
Such a great song and group!!!!👌👍
Thank you Stephen

I must learn to give only part, somehow.
As I can not learn to give only part somehow.
His lyrics dig deep..
This is the version recorded with Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young

is this song part of a narrative between two cowboys?
Are you kidding? It's about his break up with Judy Collins.
You are mistaken, but perhaps reminiscing of when you saw the movie Brokeback Mountain.
