You mentioned at some point how you don't train with treats. I also enjoyed your Don't Praise Your Dog video, maybe you can make one explaining the No Treats Training, we're super curious over here!

Extremely well presented, as The Fun BoyThree used to sing "It aint what you do it's the way that you do it and that's what gets results". The drill is just a tool, the way you use the tool is the most important thing.

I love your videos and how refreshing it is to see someone making a dog training video, with a dog who might not be 100% focused on the day. I think we learn so much more seeing this. 😊

I would love to see how you would work with my weimaraner. After 4 years of trying I still can't get her to heel on lead. I'm now stripping it right back to basics. Any tips for a strong willed dog that couldn't care less if you give her a tug?

Thanks so much for this brilliant video!! The analogies are really clever to explain subtleties that are hard to express.
Angus is 15 weeks now and changes each day I take him out. One day I’m admiring how he’s using his nose to find retrieves in bracken- next day I get a fright when he ranges too far out determined to find the ball 😳 people say he needs to be a puppy, but he’s needing some brakes and recall too - it’s a fine line - trying to read this dog when he’s in fast forward 😅

Would you recommend a little bit of a play session before a training session, to take the energy "edge" off?

As always, it’s great to hear some common sense being spoken - ‘a bouncer not a waitress’, I’m going to steal that one! 😂

I’ve just started watching your videos and love your approach. I have a 15 month old labradoodle whose parents are both labradoodles. I was really motivated in his early puppy months but more recently have been less consistent and so his recall has become quite poor. He’s nearly 25kg and so tend to use a ‘soft head leader’ for work on the lead.
If I persist and follow your training for labradors, will he become ‘gun dog’ trained and can I improve his recall?

Great video and tips. Before you give your young dogs a lesson, do you try and get them to run off some of their energy first, before starting?

Well done Charlie, another example of your patience and calmness during training, a great lesson that more handlers need to take on board throughout the dogs life, also great demonstration of going back a layer, every now and then or if the dog hasn't taken on the next layer.

I’ve recently come across your videos and I think they are fantastic. I’ve trained working collies for years and have just got my first lab pup to train as a gun dog.
I’ve never come across someone on RUclips who speaks so honestly and with such clarity and knowledge on training dogs. I especially like that you are demonstrating a method that works for you and the specific dog you are working with but tell us all that every dog is different and every day we are learning new ways to work with them and teach them in the way they understand.
    Keep up the good work!

That might be the most gorgeous dog I've ever seen. Maybe helped out by the time of day and the sunlight, but wow, what a coloring. And what a great little lad he is.
