    Thank you so much! We were totally confused and ignorant about transportation in Israel. We were lucky, our friends took us around mostly by car, but couple of days we had to travel on our own. We wanted to pay in the bus, but both drivers refused to take cash and brought us where we needed for free! That was such a difference from Toronto! Although one of them was scolding us in Hebrew for 5 minutes (well deserved) but did not kick us out anyway. Looove Israelies! Tough outside, but always helpful and warm. ❤

    This is a great video. Everything these days is on the phones,apps and internet,. it's good to see that this option is available for those of us who are not technology savvy! You explained very well and it all made sense. Thank you for this video.

    Small note: on most modes of transport it's possible to pay for multiple people with one Rav-Kav using stored value. I wouldn't recommend it because usually it will display a Hebrew-only screen asking how many rides you want to pay for, but just saying it's not strictly necessary to buy one for each passenger.

    • @adamredwine774
      @adamredwine774 Год назад +1

      I was thinking the same. If you swipe it once, and then again, it will ask if you really meant to swipe another time and how many more tickets you want to buy. It's not "obvious," but if you know what's happening, it makes sense.

    • @oatoat948
      @oatoat948 Год назад +2

      Would be good to have a option for English menu on the screen to avoid confusion for international visitors. When I rescanned it came up a red picture to go to the driver. I walked up to bus driver and hand signaled 3 tickets and he pointed to the scanner and said good to go. I wasn’t really sure what happened.
      If you could please make a video about the info on the payment screen and how to pay for multiple people. Thank you for the video!

    I just returned a couple of days ago. Wish I would have seen this video before I left.
    We always rent a car( that's a whole other video!) But we did decide to take the train into Machane Yehudah. We did find the instruction somewhat confusing and didn't realize that there was a 5 nis charge to buy the card and that each one of us needed a separate card the instructions could have been better. Having said that, the train was very convenient and clean.
    As a side note, my son joined us who lived in Israel prior to covid and his card still had a credit on it! He takes the public transportation everywhere and all over the country and has had no problems with it as far as I know.

    While I was recently in Israel, I was told my RAV card can be used and topped up for eight years before it has to be replaced with a new one. Is that correct? Also, the RAV card machine at the airport is totally different to the machines at the tram stops, which can be confusing.

    About children under 5, they ride for free only if they are accompanied by a ticket holder adult and only one child for each adult ticket holder so one adult with two children under 5 will need to buy a ticket for one of them. The second child is entitled for a 50% discount but you´ll need to have a minor profile to get the discount, something that is not possible with the basic Anonymous card and is too complicated (if even possible) for a tourist.

      We (2 couples) had been in Israel from middle September to end of September this year. We only had 1 RAV KAV Card and used it together on the domestic and overland busses. You just have to put in the number of travellers in the machine on the bus, and the whole fare for (in our case) 4 people was substracted from the card. PLEASE NOTE, that if you take the tram in Jerusalem, EVERYONE needs to have his own RAV KAV Card !!!

    Thanks for the information. Will there be a chance in the near future that Israel decides for 'contactless payment'? (Payment with credit cards / phones which charges directly from your bankaccount.) It works the same as any contactless payment in the supermarket but in the public transport you have to check in and check out to set the price.

If l purchase a daily contract for, let's say, up to 75 km does it mean that all of my journeys added up on that day must be no more than 75 km or is it just that 1 single journey must be up to 75 km but l can do multiple journeys up to 75 km on that daily ticket? 🤔🤔🤔
