  • After numerous comments about Mexico City being dangerous, I decided to do a video to show it is not Dangerous. I go over 3 key reasons people have a misconception. I also cover the reality of the city as well as 3 key things those traveling here should keep in mind.

I really enjoyed your perspective on Mexico. A lot of negative is highlighted about Mexico due to the cartels. However people do live normal lives in Mexico and do normal everyday things just like in America. People arent commonly always in some panic mad max danger the way Mexico has been portrayed. Just learning common sense and staying out of trouble is the best thing you can do. Cartels don't care for tourists or anybody visiting in Mexico they are interested in getting their "product" to USA "clients" the money they are getting is bus loads compared to what expats, tourists or any Mexican resident would have. Petty crime and regular crimes like criminal gangs are the ones you should worry about just like in any country of the world. I have never heard of any of my family worry about the cartel. Cartel do have their strong holds but you wouldn't really visit those regions unless you are looking for trouble lol

You look really happy in every video you make. That means your life is wonderful there. You don't see many happy faces here in the States; people smile, but that smile doesn't reach their eyes, which means their souls aren't as happy as their faces appear.

Great analysis! Regarding your point in bucket #1, that’s precisely what our President emphasized in her letter to President-elect Trump. She expressed that while Mexico can assist at the border, the root of the problem IS domestic, and the U.S. must address its part. No demand, no supply-exactly as you said.
She also pointed out that the U.S. needs to stop arming the cartels because it’s our people-the Mexican people-who bear the brunt of the violence and suffering. Addressing both demand and the flow of weapons is essential for real change.
I know many might say, ‘Of course, you live in Polanco, a high-end neighborhood,’ but that doesn’t invalidate the rest of your analysis. The sentiment is spot on-if you avoid trouble areas, you’ll navigate the city just fine. Honestly, that’s true for any city in the world

As a mexican i appreciate the depth of your analisys, i get tired of westerners just telling us the cartels are our fault for supplying drugs and migrants but never acknoledge their part on the consumption of the drugs and weapons traficking, not to mention the DEA role in all of this. Great video you have a new subscriber :)

Thank You for giving this información to your followers. I am mexican and i love in one of the most beautiful island of México.
    Cozumel.
    To add some información.
Yes. The cartels becsme a huge problem in México. Such as colombia, bolivia, Venezuela, Perú and now ecuador.
But, something all these countries have in common. Is: the money$$ dollars come from u.s.a. the consumers ( drug adicts ) are in u.s.a.to clean all that money the american Banks like Wells fargo sospicious of cleaning money from .. ) and others and Also the real states bussines.
Plus the corruptión in both sides of the border.
That is why the cartels in all these countries are very strong.

I enjoy your videos. I’m Mexican have been married to my American wife for 32 years and she loves Mexico, we are in Az. because she is helping her parents. I believe this is a very important video you made, because unfortunately Trump has flooded the media with fear of Mexican and Latinos, I know that if I go to Chicago I’ll stay in the safer part of town, Salt Lake City Utah I won’t go to West SL in night and is the same were ever you travel, there is crime everywhere. So thank you so very much for this video.

Living in Mexico is great, people are kind and in general happy. Living within their means ( many low income), very family oriented.
May not have all the fancy stuff we enjoy in the USA or Canada, but they have each other.
    Suicide rates, low.
    Depression… what’s that?
    Family support is the key.
    …And that’s the truth!

    • @goingwalkaboutnow

Thank you for the feedback. Due to the altitude, the city is at 7500 ft, which is very high, mosquitoes do not breed. In their rainy season you may get a few if they have hotter weather.

Thank you for your feedback . It’s never too late to learn anything, I’m 65 and started learning Spanish via Duolingo when I was 63, I’m not fluent but I can get around pretty well and have basic conversations on pretty much anything. Give it a go, you might find, like I did, that you really enjoy it!

Yes, many parts of US can be dangerous...but we also didn't have 37 US candidates running for office murdered in the last year. I think a lot of people are worried that if something went bad... the Mexican law enforcement etc., may not have your back. Your points are well taken, though. Just not as high of a chance of a road stop shake down in let's say, Europe. 😉🙂

They were murdered because they were interfering with the cartel drug business aka shipping routes. The cartel usually gives you a chance to back out but many were brave soldiers and well they met their end. Mexican residents usually dont interfere with cartel.
