Ribbon fish are extremely easy to catch off of the Garden City and Myrtle Beach Piers, especially at night. Just start off with a little piece of shrimp or even a mud minnow and drop it down just a few inches below the surface. Move the bait around a little bit to get their attention and you should have a strike within a minute or two. Once you catch your first ribbon fish, cut that ribbon fish into pieces and use ribbon fish itself to catch more ribbon fish. You should catch at least one or two every 5 minutes, and some can grow as big as four feet and they are sought after by all kinds of people, especially the bait and tackle shops that sell them as trolling rigs for offshore fishing like you would use a Ballyhoo down in Florida. Perrelet the Asians are always fishing for them, because they are considered a delicacy in their Cuisine, plus they export them back to China and make a ton of money on them.

I use about the same rig except i use a slip bobber and let it take the bobber under like bluegill fishing. They are a tasty fish too. great vid. enjoy it, thanks

So I'm a catfishin guy from Pittsburgh, we run inline rattles alot, would those help out too for noise? Nice video! Always wondered how to use the glow sticks. We come down every August for a week. Hoping to catch a bunch for cut bait for surf fishing.

Thank you! You absolutely can use those it will work great. Give them a try as well I have a shorts series (contemplating reuploading as one video) that shows how to clean the fish. After trying it properly cleaned up, it's a really great tasting fish but also makes great bait like you mentioned. I've caught stud trout and flounder off them!

@@CarolinaShoreFishing awesome! I'm hoping to actually get into some good fish. Havnt had too much luck in the past couple years, a few small accidental sharks and I've had ribbon fish on and they came off. Never really had any knowledge. But I've been soaking it all in now!

I'm not a saltwater guy strictly bass fishing so I use the same techniques everywhere I go. Off this same pier I caught 2 of these fish on a shad rap. The locals said the were really good sized and kept them for stingray bait. Boy they trashed a new shad rap for sure.

How much they go for? I hear they're pricey here since the king fisherman seek them. I'd rather cut up and use for better fish!
