  • In this episode we discover whats left of the Old Pacific Highway on Brisbane"s south side. Theres a small stretch of black top at Eight Mile Plains it's all thats left on the northbound lanes.
This is the third episode of tracing my childhood memories south out of Brisbane. Today its Upper Mt Gravatt to Springwood.
I grew up in a time where a kid could go to work with his dad. He was a truckie, this meant I was able to learn the layout of Brisbane from an early age.
This route is how I remember travelling from the city, out to our home at Springwood.
These episodes are a recollection of my memories as a child and may not be exactly correct.

The restaurant on Logan road across from Garden City Shopping Centre was called "The Keg". We went to The Keg a few months before it was closed down. I grew up in the Mt Gravatt district and there are so many memories in your series of videos, thank you.

Hungry Jack's used to be just outside Garden City in the carpark. Is that what you mean?

That’s the one I was talking about. First one I saw after moving from Melbourne in the mid 70’s.
