Ohhh Steve, what a phenomenal interview. Learned a lot about Elvis. Good for him sticking to his guns in Vegas that night. As far as why he didn’t go to the studio, who knows. It was 7 months before his death & perhaps he wasn’t feeling well. He hadn’t recorded for yrs in a studio and may have felt he couldn’t complete it. Thank goodness this man loved Elvis because someone else might have not gone to all that trouble with the tapes etc. What a good man and bless him for that. Love the story of the guy in Colorado protecting Elvis’s name. All around fabulous interview. Thanks so very much to the both of you. You’re right, it’s great to learn something new everyday and you work hard for Elvis fans to get the truth and the very best people to tell it. Thanks so much. 😊❤❤🎸🕺🏻🎤👍🏻🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️

    Very interesting discussion.
There seems to be no bitterness in Brent Maher's recollection, which is somehow soothing. Him saying that "there's no reason for [him] to speculate" about why Elvis didn't make it to the studio just goes to show that as well as being a great artist and craftsman, he's also a great person.
    Thank you Steve!

I've been an Elvis fan since '57.
There a saying " Idols with clay feet". No matter how much they are admired they too have their faults. Elvis was no exception. Those who deny this are blinded by the stars in their eyes.
What Elvis did was rude and unforgivable.
I'm reading a book "Elvis And The Memphis Mafia. It's the most definitive book I've read about Elvis.
The boys don't diss Elvis, but give a realistic view of Elvis the human.
My view so far is Elvis was very demanding. This is understandable as he was an only child who was doted on by his mother. It must be remembered that he was young when he found fame and had very little life experience.
Elvis knew how to play people.
These are not really faults. They are part of being human.
This book has not changed my admiration of Elvis. If anything it's made him more human.
I highly recommend this book. But read it with an open mind.

Elvis did many songs as Way Down and as Pledging My Love in several Graceland-Jungle Room-session ... all these songs are made in takes .... and we have these takes ... and what are you telling "us" here? The interview-partner mixed these two songs with several parts to 2 cut songs????????????? Mhm ...... please tell this in understandable words here as a comment. The sessions were aborted because of Elvis’ relationship with Gingerbread.
