If you're still in the area you should definitely check out the Harrisburg East Mall, its set to be demolished very soon but the doors are still open as far as I've heard.
Ate at this place many times in the early 2000,s . At that time it wasn't bad .... Also Old Country Buffet was just a little further down the road.. Long gone memories...
I recall when the Colonial Diner opened as I worked across the street at the Mall and it was so wonderful. You're correct about the neon lighting. There used to be lit neon strips that encircled the rooftop. They framed what were then dark red rectangles, which were designed to mimic the classic diner car aesthetic of the mid-20th Century. If memory serves, this structure was built in the late 1960's and I think was known as "The Pancake House". I'm saddened to see it abandoned, as every visit to this place was just a delight. Nonetheless, I appreciated seeing how it is now.
Sad to see it go. I grew up in Harrisburg, have since moved to Maryland. I remember eating there many times with friends and family. Great job with the video.
I remember eating there a few times. I remember one time me my sister and my girlfriend at the time went there when it was still open 24/7. We had picked my sister up from work and the 3 of us were hungry and decided to go there. We were like the only 3 ppl in there at the time. We got a little loud and said to our waitress we're sorry for being loud and she was like its ok we're use to it.
Back in 2002-2008 me and the guys either went to the colonial Park diner or the cocoa grille in Hershey. We loved the 24 hour places, since we usually went around 2am. Sad to see this diner close but sounds like it wasn't what it once was.
As many times as I've been through Harrisburg with my parents, I've never noticed Coloniel Diner. Is it near Coloniel Park Mall? I've never been to Coloniel Park Mall either.
There is a Abandon Family Dollar down here in Moundsville West Virginia they just close last year. It’s right next to Kroger’s. You should come do a video on that one. I love watching all your videos.
So the family that owned this failed twice, BC @ 1st son says , he was going to buy it , but then his Dad found out, Dad had 1 before but it closed, when he heard another was going to be empty he couldn't wait to buy it , it had new or different employees and time to try it again....
I have to laugh, you wonder why people drive the way they do, don't forget you are in Harrisburg that's Harrisburg a sorry place to live. Sadly to say I was born and raised here and lived here ALL my life and it has really gone down the tubes, it's worse then ever............🙃
sad to see so many mom-and-pop places closing.
I agree

The last time I was at the east mall was January 2016.
Old style diners always had the best food.
That is a crying shame about this restaurant closing up 😢

The food here at the Colonial Park Diner was legit. Many meals at different hours
Seeing this video in my subscription feed was so surreal. I remember eating here as a kid from time to time. So sad to see the place is gone.

i like old school diners. Great video.
Last I ate there was 1.5 -2 years ago and didn't plan to go back. So this is not surprising.

I live around that area and remember eating there. If I can remember, the food wasn't bad in my experience.

Didn't even know they had closed the food was really great
I love going to diners, always a shame when they close up and you get stuck with going to a bunch of chain places.
I agree!
Can’t believe it closed looking really bad
Apparently drivers in Harrisburg are a bit horn-y??
Walls may have been stainless steel. Scrap payout is decent for it.
Looks like an old Dennys
People are in a hurry. We have those speed demons where I live in Port St Lucie, FL.

Do like me an old style diner and looks a 2 for 1 that day nice

Rest in Peace Toby Keith
Would make a good Chinese Buffet once repurposed
Why Did It Close And Why

Its a shame....food was always good there
It closed early summer 2023 I believe

Is this owned or formally owned by same people as one in Lyndhurst nj same name ?!?!
Probably the stainless kitchen backsplash pieces
What phone do you use to record
People take on these diners and don’t know how to run them and this happens to them.
Wallie, did you really just say that? horn up to hit their horns?
