Eiichiro Oda certainly is hyping up the final saga a lot, particularly in how he compares it to Marineford. I don't doubt it'll be big, and considering the characters involved, particularly characters who haven't done much during the entirety of this series, it definitely feels like it's going to be an epic finale! Let's hope it lives up to the hype.
Y’all said the same thing about Wano :/
@@Thenoble1j and it did.
@@Thenoble1j bro he literally says wano wasnt supposed to mirror Marineford. relax

You could also compare Thriller Bark with Punk Hazard as not only are both those arcs are set in unique locations, but both reveal important information that becomes relevant later in the story, with the Punk Hazard information being revealed in Dressrosa and Wano, and the Thriller Bark information being revealed in Whole Cake Island and Wano. For similar reasons, you could also compare Sabaody Archipelago to Zou in that both those arcs have massive revelations on the One Piece world and for the Straw Hats.
Agree on the Punk Hazard bit.
Something else to note is that Thriller Bark and Punk Hazard both focus on a villain who is hiding away in their "lab" or sorts with a variety of bizarre henchmen, created with the aid of a doctor working under them at the time of the Straw Hats arrival. Both villains are also keeping prisoners on the island who literally cannot leave or they will die. The inversion here is that Thriller Bark does this with "magic" whereas Punk Hazard does this with science.
You could compare Fishman Island to possibly the final arc of One Piece. As the information there predicts what might happen near the end of one piece.
x1a
Every arc has that lmao
and also these arcs really not being prominent
A nice inverse I pointed out, when the new emperors were announced, is that 3/4 emperors were previously from Rock’s Crew, but now 3/4 have some relation to Gol D Roger.
And funily enough the one not related to Rocks was related to Roger and now the one not related to Roger it's Blackbeard, wich was a part of the Whitebeard pirates, who was related to Rocks.
And 4/4 emperors are connected to shanks lol
Considering that baby shanks was at god valley, then all 4 emperors were related to rocks
Well then maybe the next four emperors maybe releated to Monkey D. Luffy. If we live to see that, that is..
The final panel is just crazy to think about and imagine what goes through oda’s mind when drawing it
I imagine it'll be Luffy with a really big smile on his face

That last part pulls a huge amount of emotion from me for some reason. Lots of people are happy that this saga is approaching its finale but im sure, a bunch of people, probably those who grows up with the series, are not ready for the last panel of One Piece, myself included
Yeah man, i remember seeing the cover of a magazine in a store when i was 10 or 11 with luffy pulling his cheek/mouth and me and my friend thought it was super funny.
Then started watching it on tv starting in 2001/2002 or whenever it was that it started airing.
Then started to read the manga in 2010 and been a weekly reader since.
Am turning 32 this year so this story has been a part of more than two thirds of my life. While i am very excited to see how the story plays out and finding out everything and the final battles and whatnot, i for sure will be shedding a tear when i see the last panel cuz damn, will it have been a long time.
@@diablejambe3460 i feel ya bro
@@diablejambe3460 similar here. Though I'm going to pay a DJ to play Binks Sake and I'm going to get hammered at a bar when the story ends. Hopefully others join the merriment.
@@diablejambe3460 I share your story. 30 now, read OP since 11. The thought that the story has been a part of my life for 2/3 of it is insane...in all honesty, the ending will probably feel like losing a loved one.
fuck that I don't want to die before i see the end
I just hope we get Smoker vs Crocodile.
Alright, the idea of Luffy putting the hat on Shank's grave got me a little, especially when you remember that the first cover story post timeskip ended with the shot of Ace's and Whitebeard's graves.
Will we actually see Smoker win a fight? I'm here for it.
@@stephenderry9488 No idea, but it makes sense thematically. They are both Logias (I don't think we have had a proper Logia vs Logia fight since the timeskip), we could have the OG good Marine Officer fighting the first Warlord we saw in action on the Grand Line, and the two have history.
If Smoker wins, he could even be "redeeming" himself after Alabasta, and he could even ride that wave to Admiral Level after the final confrontations.
Let’s not forget that at the end of the Dressrosa Arc, it was stated that the newly formed Straw Hat Grand Fleet, would be a part of a future incident that would shock the world. They might be getting involved in the story soon and again 😮
The final fight will be huge. BB pirates, revolutionary army, World Government, SH grand fleet, cross guild & all the supernovas
@@M8V3N187Zunesha shows up
I already knew about the Alabasta vs Dressrosa parallels, but the idea of the final panel of the entire manga being just a shot of the straw hat similar to how pre-timeskip ended would be so brilliant to end an epic tale spanning probably 28 years and 1200 chapters
I always saw Punk Hazard having several parallels to Thriller Bark, on a time crunch, bad guy has complete control of the island and doing evil things. Also at the end Doffy and his forces try and third party them like Kuma. Also Zou is kinda weird because it doesn’t have a clear parallel, some Skypiea, maybe some Long Ring Long Land, for anything just the length and the set up for Whole Cake like Long Ring Long Land did with Kuzan and Enis Lobby.
What I'm hoping is that when the Marineford mirror happens is that every single person the Strawhats have helped come to join in the fight. After all, it'll likely be the last grand battle of the series, so why not go all out and have the entire Grand Fleet, both official and unofficial, come together one last time?
Barto club gonna go crazy
No I think Luffy should no show all his cards so early
@@sanusisanusi6716 if they survive in the seas they don't have a navigation they have a Granny 😂😂
I feel like Thriller Bark mirrors Wano in a way that "What if instead of a captain losing their crew to Kaido" with Gecko Moria's backstory, we have the inverse with "the crew lost their captain to Kaido, sorta" from the backstory of the nine scabards.
And also how they pulled themselves up to challenge Kaido again winning this time, instead of lying down in the First half of grandline utterly defeated and becoming a shell of what Moriah was supposed to be.
(There Moriah The Captain lost his crew to Kaido and settled down and never won until he was found and defeated by Luffy, here Scabbards lost their Captain Oden to Kaido but didn't settled down and eventually found and teamed up with Luffy and won against Kaido, so much parallels)
Thinking about it, I think it’d be cool to have a marine-ford like battle on the pirates turf instead & with different goals etc, especially if the emperors are involved
It could happen on Elbaf sense we are yet to see it
Any and all interaction between Luffy and Sabo will give me chills and make me cry.
Ace shouldn't have been killed off for their character development. Dadan could have been a better sacrifice to inspire the 3 to train
After reading Chapter 1083, that tidbit about Oda just wanting to draw character silhouettes, and the story becoming longer as a result, is hilarious. We’re in the last saga of the story, and he still can’t help himself! 😂

Wano did live up to marineford's highs in my opinion. Best backstories yet, best fights till now, the most power creep the show has ever got till now, emotional, hype etc., Especially in the manga where we see G5, power system expansion, laugh tale etc., Personally I have it slightly above marineford, but the gap is very very small.
I am with you on this one
Conclusions could've been better and more fleshed out like info on Ryuma, Zoro's lineage and what happened to him after he defeats King, Yamato slowly meanwhile showing signs of noticing Momo's weakness during all these revelations after their fight with Greenbull and thus decides to stop for sometime in order to train momo, instead of suddenly deciding to stop in Wano right when they were departing. Info on Oden's other sword and perhaps more on how much more powerful Mihawk really is, and reactions to Luffy becoming an emperor would've fleshed it out really well.
@@xsupremeyx9923 marineford did some things better, wano did somethings better.
@@niteeshj1097 Marineford was pretty well fleshed out from beginning to the end but no major fight happened other than Whitebeard vs Sakazuki and perhaps Blackbeard vs Whitebeard.
Most of it was drop in deal damage and fall back to see what the fuck happened in chaotic way
But in Wano alot of major fights happened seperately, and was not chaotic, Hence we saw moments from multiple fights and saw how war changed accordingly to each win or loss.
It was simply alot more technical, and hence Wano had way better fights than Marineford's drop in powerful guys and see what the hell happens meanwhile the focus remains on reaching ace only.
Wano on the other hand had one goal, defeat the beast pirates or be defeated, not something like take ace out and get the hell out.
Some other interesting parallels between WCI and Enies Lobby is that both arcs feature Luffy fighting the "second in command" with Katakuri and Lucci (Lucci is still technically under Spandams direct command) and both end with the SH having to escape the enemy's territories.
This might be a multi island war, the strawhats on egghead, blackbeard on winner Island, shanks on elbaf and buggy is on the way, the four emperors are all within a short sailing distance, so I wonder if this arc is going to be based on naval combat or at least jumping from ship to ship throwing stretchy punches
I want some more ship to ship combat if possible before the last battle, it's a pirate anime.
I absolutely adored Whole cake island as it had the ship to ship combat.
Enies lobby was another close one as the small but nimble Merry made it way through impossible odds against 10 Big Naval ships and meanwhile even damaging those ships as well.
Straight up called me out when you mentioned "crippling addiction to fictional pirate content!" 😂😅😢
3:05 Law and Vivi being regular heart princesses 😂😂
Also my theory, Luffy Shanks and Coby team up against Blackbeard like God valley incident with Rocks against garp and Roger.
just thinking about the last panel gave me chills lol i can't imagine how much im gonna cry when we actually see it.
Whenever I read "croco-boy", I always hear it in the voice of Ivankov 😂
I have a theory as to why shanks waited before going to laughtale. Could it be that before roger got executed he told shanks joyboy would come to change the world. He told shanks that the Gomu gomu no mi was the key to joyboys coming. Roger had the power of the gomugomunomi and after being executed shanks already new about devil fruits and that is why he told buggy that his trip to laughtale would have to wait because rogers devil fruit was now somewhere out in the world. He spent that time looking for the devil fruit until he found it only to be eaten by luffy. Shanks might have token it as something of an accident at first but then could have realized that this could not have been an accident thus believing that luffy had a chance of being joy boy. (Up to that moment shanks might have thought he could’ve been joyboy and to confirm it he had to eat the devil fruit to find out) (another reason as to why roger died of an unknown illness was because using the gomugomunomi gears lowers your life similar to luffy in enis lobby) now that luffy has became joyboy and the giant elephant announced joyboys return we can assume that shanks with his insane observation Haki and possibly voice of all things heard it too and has realized joyboy has returned.
Zombie 28 was on the run from the law so he came up w genius disguise of becoming Zombie 29. But now that you've put him on blast he needs to go on the run again. Nice GLR. Realll nice..
I have an idea that in Wano when Luffy died, his vivre card would have started burning then. His grand fleet would all start moving in on his position at a sign like that. We're more than likely to see the grand fleet arrive at Egghead.
I remember when I first started going through one piece a few years ago I would keep track of how many times Luffy got a body part stuck in some sort of structure which was then used as the reason why Luffy isn't able to help whoever else on the crew is having their fight. Used to make me very upset because of how often it happened and I hatted it, I lost track somewhere along the line and thankfully it hasn't really been a thing post time skip which is good because it was so annoying and never made any sense to begin with.
fun little joke teory for you: Luffys strawhat is secretly a ancient weapon that was so terible (in the worlds goverments eyes) that all mentions about it was whiped from history simularly to basicly all knowledge about luffys devil fruit.
the power of the ancient weapon? inspiering people to go afther their dream, and helping people reach them in different ways ;)
It kind of feels like the war will be a fight between the yonko all going for the one piece at the same time. Either running concurrently with the Revolutionaries finally fighting the WG or right after
A war for the world. Freedom, control, domination, all clashing at once.
the final fight for one piece will be a 4-way emperor davy back games, hosted by buggy in a marvelous carnival-style island, including a carnival music number hosted by buggy like big moms
10:41 It only just hit me that with Buggy / cross guild now joining the race for the one piece this will directly lead to Zoro fighting Mihawk.
I'm definitely a firm believer of the shanks won't survive one piece theory. However I didn't even think about him placing the hat on a gravestone, that would definitely be a wonderful thing to do
I was not expecting the feels at the end there. Good job Liam!
Hearing oda just really like drawing unique characters is what’s driving him to write one piece; all while being able to write an amazing story is honestly impressive.
I always thought whole cake was a mirror of both water 7 saga and thriller bark. Unique location, Lola giving nami her mother vivi card in thriller bark and that mother being big mom. The suducing woods parallel with the zombies of thriller bark.
Enies lobby paralleling Wano is very sound and all but let us not forget: Long ring long land! Just think:
3 Davy back challenges, 3 acts of Wano
Animal themed foxy pirates and the animal kingdom/beast pirates
An antagonist who, instead of killing opponents, presses them in submission/service
Weird long animals and weird Zoan animal smile fruit users
An island with geography that changes or has changed greatly based on rising tides
Afro Luffy and Gear 5 Luffy. Just ridiculous or ridiculously strong?!
After the fights are seemingly over, cue the admiral! A blue pheasant or a green bull
And finally, take a look at the title page for 310
So now I ask you the most serious of questions: was Foxy the real Kaido all along????
On a slightly more serious note, great video and thanks for the content as always!
(But seriously, long ring long land end game be real tho)
Wild theory : Enel will come back and save Luffy from execution, the same way a lightning bolt saved Luffy from execution.
As long as Enel helps The Strawhat Grand Pirate Fleet during The Final War Arc I’m down for anything that would realistically set that up; great idea! 😸
So if we are following the logic about the final arc having the marineford look a like arc. Wouldn’t that mean that Shanks is the one starting this big final war since he was the one stopping the last one?
personally I feel that egghead resembles saboady, and whole cake represents enes lobby
Ohh! The part where you compare the arks and wonder about sky-people worshipping ground like ground-people worship the sky was genius! I liked that a lot
Actually Hody Jones had nothing to do with the huge ship trying to kill all the civilians of Fishman Island. It was Vander Decken who was upset that Princess Shirahoshi rejected him 😂 haha!
Princess Trafalgar D. Water Law
My favorite
I think the last Panel will show us Oda in his office saying: "You want the last chapter? You can have it. Go and find it. I left everything my mind could offer in this place!", igniting a new Age of Adventures.
From that panel the framing kind of makes it look like the rock is a man lying down on his back with the hat placed across their face. Maybe wrapped up in bandages before being burned on a funeral pyre.
2:10 I never realized that 😂 but it was also gold that allowed him to power it up
Final panel of the manga should be the Straw Hat being worn by Rocks D Xebec if we are looking for mirrors.
7:46 To be fair to the one animator who drew the zombie 36 on the left, they could have been attempting to draw Zombie 367 but the 7 was omitted from the frame. Whoever told the animator that the 7 should have been omitted should at least be docked some pay for such a heinous decision, and one might say that the animator should also have their pay docked for going along with such a bad decision, but firing them might be a bit too far for being unable to fit a 7 onto the screen.... Though you are right Mr internet man... removing zombie 29's(who some say is the best character in all of one piece) existence in the anime is something that all the staff who were working on that scene should have gotten fired for
New world review and grand line review videos within 30 minutes Liam is out here grinding !
With the Dressrosa vs Alabasta character comparisons, you forgot they both have a crossdresser who specializes in kicks and that they both had somebody from the main villain crew switch sides & aid the Straw Hats (Bon Clay & Baby 5).
I have a funny theory. What if, if the key to use the one piece is, is luffys straw hat? that would explain why the roger pirates laughet so hard because roger gave it to shanks who did not come to laugh tale :D I know its impossible but its funny
Now, im waiting for Fleet Admiral Sakazuki to make his move.
When you started talking about the end of one piece and the last panel my eyes just teared up a bit 😢
There is another parallel between Wano and Thriller bark, at the end of Thriller Bark Kuma appears (a very strong enemy) and beats up everyone and at the end of Wano Ryoukugyu appears (another very strong enemy) and gets beaten up.
Also when Kuma appeared he disposed of Perona who was something like a commander to Moria and Ryokugyu did something similar to Kaidos commanders when he appeared.
So, in the beginning, you’re basically just referencing the checkered fate theory. It seems to be a pretty solid theory
Man I love that fresh change of perspective that your way of thinking brings to the whole theorizing world of One Piece. And Oda sure can extend a story to a whole other level of LONG, but the whole 'mirror arcs' idea sounds pretty legit to me! One question though, If what happens after Egghead is supposed to be the mirror arc to Marineford, how will Oda fit all the places we need to get to in one long-a** war arc? We need to get to Elbaf because reasons (Like Usopp's dream and the whole possibility we have some serious info over there in Saul's personal Library of Ohara and maybe a road poneglyph ), We need to get to Laugh Tale and Road Star maybe, probably destroy Mary Geoise and the red line at some point... So how? I mean yeah Marineford had several mini-arcs in it like Amazon Lily (and the whole training arc for all the crew), Impel Down etc. But still, we'd need a lot of time to visit all the places stated above.
Don't need to go to all locations, potentially only need to go to Elbaf and Laugh Tale, while revolutionaries take care of Mary Geoise and Navy. SH specifically don't need to go there and the primary antagonists can simply follow them and stop them in their way. War also doesn't necessarily need to be at 1 spot, it can be a massive in terms of scale all around the world on multiple fronts. Point is, SH don't need to go everywhere, there are really only 2 locations that are a must, Elbaf and Laugh Tale.
@@Raigekon Okay, makes sense 🤷🏻♂️
Everything has accelerated quite a bit in the final saga, I don't think it's gonna take 200 chapters per arc in the same place anymore. Plus Oda totally will let it run longer than he said if that's what he needs anyway
Hard to believe all this time I've been looking at one crazy mirror flip involving my favorite anime pirates (though I saw it with Alabasta/Dressrosa)
i think if theres so much parallels, the final panel is probably someone lifting the straw hat to wear it, so the hat is upside down but moving upwards, kind of like whoever is going to wear it, is going on an adventure
GrandLineReview can you do a video on random powers in the one piece world that are not devil fruits or species specific? Like Miss Goldenweek
So, funny thing about WCI is that it mirrors not only W7/EL but also Arlong Park. Remember, Sanji met Nojiko and Nami met the Germa. Sanji's moment with Luffy is more akin to Nami's in Cocoyashi Village than Robin's at Enies Lobby. Just thought it was interesting that the arc about Sanji takes points from both the women he fawns over most
Disagree with a few of the comparisons. Fishman island is pretty much a narrative extension of the arlong arc as it sees the crew effectively fully formed but taking a detour to help a friend deal with Fishman supremacist causing trouble in their home town. Whole cake is oddly enough a blend of the previous rescue arcs. Like with nami a crewmate leaves and claims they don't care about luffy in a attempt to keep him and everyone else they care about safe from their childhood tormementer, like with Robin said crewmembe is basically a prisoner and setting them free requires more careful planning than the strawhats are use to, and like with ace luffy is trying to save someone who grew up believing his life had little value thanks to their blood fathers, yet see that they have value in how much his chosen family cares for him. Wano surprisingly has a lot of skypia in its DNA. Facing off against a figure who's basically positioned as a god and through his defeat luffy proves to be a savior, said figure proves difficult fight in large part because of his haki, luffy works around that and arguably is carried into win by the specifc properties of his devil fruit, and more information on the poneygliphs are given. Egghead has some water 7 in it as what should have been an easy island turns into a direct confrontation with the world government over the life of someone with knowledge that could threaten their entire system.
Bro that bit at the end about rock wearing the strawhat killed me
The final panel would be buggy D crown being crowned as the king of the pirates
I still think that the final panel will be the whole "Wealth, fame, power" but with Luffy. The first panel of post timeskip was the hat on the rock so i feel the first panel being the last panel makes the most sense.
You're prob spot on about the final panel. I could def see that.. Thinking about the end 😭

10:07 BROOOO THIS IS CRAZY.... you pointed out how he said IF he survived....but technically he DIDNT he died and then came back as NIKA!!
I think you missed an interesting parallel between wanno and thriller bark: the thriller bark antagonist was defeated by wanno's antagonist
11:14 just thinking about One Piece ending makes me tear up lol
If the last page of One piece is the strawhat flying through the wind just to fall on some random boy head I'll cry myself to sleep
Some other parallels I noticed between Enies Lobby and Wano is that they both involved the Straw Hats fighting against the "strongest" of the enemy's respective faction,i.e. the strongest Cipher Pol and strongest Pirate Crew), and that Luffy, Zoro and Sanji all needed to reach new heights of strength to win against their opponents (which also all happen to be Zoans). Also I don't know if this counts as a parallel, but Luffy's bounty after Enies Lobby was exactly 10 times his first bounty, and his bounty after Wano was exactly 10 times what it was after Enies Lobby.
I view Wano as the Skypeia analogue and WCI as the Thriller bark analogue.
Wano and Skypeia are also both isolated. Wano sank into the ocean (mostly) while Jaya shot up into the sky (mostly). One had an ancient weapon and the other held the location of an ancient weapon. Both revolved heavily on the memory and inherited will of a dead hero (Kalgera and Wyper inheriting his will vs. Oden and Momo/Yamato inheriting his will). They are the only two sagas to use different currencies. Both end with the citizens praying upwards to Luffy. Skypeia mentions the Sun God and Wano has Nika. The dead hero had a foreign friend (Kalgera and Noland/Oden and Whitebeard/Roger). Both involved the overthrow of an outside government (Strawhats/Shandorians/Birkans and Strawhats/Scabbards/Kaido's group). It's not perfect, but still.
And Thriller Bark + Whole Cake Island both had theme park vibes to them and involved, at their core, a rescue mission (rescue Brook's shadow and rescue Sanji).
GLR referencing Negima is everything!
Dont forget the most important upcoming mirror arc, short square short land.
There are so many pieces on the board right now that I will need a dry erase board to keep track
There is also Luffy’s fight with Usopp & Sanji are mirrored where with fighting as a duel Usopp yelled out how he felt the opposite of him being a lair, & with Sanji he lies about his true feelings while Luffy just refuse to fight back while Sanji kicks him
Oh my GOD the final panel being the hat Shank's grave would be INSANE

Fr, op gonna break Internet this year mann
It's honestly hard to wrap my head around One Piece ending. It's just been going for so long and it's stayed consistent. I didn't get into it until about two years ago when the anime was animating the Oden flashback. I was caught up not long after that and started reading the manga until I was caught up there. I have been reading concurrently since, never going more than two chapters without checking back and reading.
I can only imagine how the people that have been watching since they were young feel. I've known of One Piece and seen the characters multiple times growing up. It's probably been 15 years since the first time I saw something from One Piece, but it was just any other anime to me back then. Now thinking back I regret not giving it a chance sooner and not being able to grow with this community, that said, these last two years have been pretty cool being a part of the community.
what an ending for a video! actual goosebump moment
Got to love the fact Oda is the best retconner to make everyone thing he planned all this ages ago... this is another awesome film from Liam
Kuro was a precursor to CP9 and Smoker is a precursor of the Admirals... also, sidenote, Warship Island and Erik the Whirlwind were kinda precursors to Zou Island and Jack the Drought.
Egghead is ImpelDown. 2 government islands. Freeing someone (vegapunk and ace). Buster call is saturn and kisaru. CP0 and CP9
@GrandLineReview Adding to the "New World Arcs kind of mirror PTS arcs". If if comes to this: All I wanna see is a (doublespread) glory shot of Luffy leaving an epic fist-mark on Imu's face

It’s not mirroring, its spiraling. Thats why things don’t line up 1-1, they align on the golden ratio.
