Thanks to your video I decided to buy the game, people said the game on 3080 would run max at 2k, I'm glad they're wrong. Now I'm gonna enjoy it with my 3080 at 4k.
Definitely. I would still recommend using DLSS 66% at 4K to keep VRAM at bay, but so far after like 5 hours, it's been smooth sailing. If you have trouble with frequent/heavy stutters, drop the 'background model detail' setting to the equivalent of high (still higher than PS5 since that uses between medium to high).
So much for needing 12-16gb vram.. runs amazing on our card.. I’ve only just started but I think I’m gonna go with 50% dlss at 4k maxed. It all depends if pop ins occur on high model backgrounds or not. If there’s no pop ins on high I’ll do 66% high models instead. Thanks for the vid.
I've been looking for a video like this. Recently got a 4K display and was worried how the game would perform given the 12GB VRAM recommendation for 4K in the system requirements. This definitely put my worries at ease
Was worried my 3080 10gb wouldn’t be enough! Was waiting for someone to post this. Much appreciated. Are you pretty much playing through on 4k? And have you been getting close to using 10gb vram?
@@GBeastyB At least playing through a large amount of chapter 2 (prob the biggest open world section from memory anyways), I haven’t been running into issues at 4K. The left side of the VRAM number on the overlay is the allocation and the right one is the actual utilization and as long as that right number isn’t spilling over 9-10gb, I think it’s good.
I would say there is pop in if you are swinging the camera quickly but in normal play, not much really. I haven't gotten to the 6 or so other regions (many smaller iirc) to test but this is one of the largest ones without going halfway through the game.
Yep on Nvme - 32GB RAM I’ve heard some people say that the stutters get better after a couple of hours? I let the shaders compile at the beginning but i’m still getting dips to 45-50 fps
@@tony_darkness Maybe DDU your drivers and try the shader compilation again? I know that even at 4k you will be going down to like 55-62fps if your camera is like wayyy out in the distance to the next major area.
@ I forgot to mention this is at 1440p at low-medium settings. But that’s a good rec - i’ll try the DDU (i’ve never done that) and recompile. I might roll back to the last nvidia driver as well
@@ActionBreh Unfortunately, you cannot turn off AA in this game so you are stuck with TAA/TAAU as alternatives. I think they both look not as good. TAA still has a halo like effect even at 4k 100 res scale.
Bought the game without realizing my gpu isn’t compatible… (I ran part 1 with a rx580 and it did very well) but I guess it’s time to upgrade A used 3080 seems like a good price to performance for me I don’t need anything crazy and i suspect these cards will last a long time
The only caveat is the 10gb of vram and power depending on what part of the world you are in. If you don't mind not tweaking settings with vram in mind, it definitely still pushes through modern games grunt wise either at 1440p or even 4k with upscaling. I would get either a 4070 or a 7800xt if that doesn't push budget too much to have that piece of mind unless the 3080 is too good of a deal.

My god looks like this one is so much better optimised at release than remake. Thanks for vid!
this was helpful. My specs are pretty damn near identical lol

Thanks for this! I really can't see any texture pop in from your video. Have you noticed any in person? Because it's NOTICEABLE on PS5 Pro.

3080 Ti here. My FPS has recently tanked hard during Upper Junon. I wonder if my CPU being a 5950x is a bottle neck.
I’m having pretty terrible performance on my 3080 (i9 9900k cpu) - i’m way below the settings in the video, any ideas?
Are you on an nvme drive? I hear there are issues if you are on anything slower.

Whats the best looking option? DLAA/DLSS or the other one?
@@ActionBreh At this high of a resolution, I do think DLSS looks better than both TAA options.
@@Rarewarefan64 idk DLSS looks blurry to me in most games, idk how it could be better in this one

@@ActionBreh you should try dlss 4 then (the new Transformer Model), looks so much better
finally the game is not blurry unlike the ps5 💩

too bad I have a 5900x cpu.. so that would mean fps drop. Hope it still gets around 60
It should be fine overall. I was running a 5800x and a 3060 ti and it's been gpu bound at 1080p still.
I use 12100f, 3080, 32gb, 7000mb/s m.2. Running at 4k highest quality, all 100%. The picture is very good. 50fps is smooth for me, no lag
