      Hey there! Just a tip, the machine should go facing you, meaning instead of moving your arm side to side, you should be able to pull and push, and whit the other hand you just caught the cheese. I hope you can understand my, broken English from Argentina ❤

    Cheese slicing tip from a former deli worker, turn the machine 90 degrees so you are pushing away from yourself, then pulling back. Will make it much easier.

    • @rosesbaker
      @rosesbaker 2 месяца назад +1

      Yes!!! You should be pushing and pulling the slicer, not sideways. The cheese should come off the side so your not having to reach around. I think you'll really enjoy it. And deli meats for sandwiches are better priced... turkey, roast beef, ham, etc.... Good luck ❤🎉

    they have different blades for that slicer and the one you are using is for bread, the one for cheese is smooth, the one for meat had small ridges on it I have this same slicer and I use it all the time

    I think you’ll find the slicer easier if you set it on a rubber mat or damp tea towel. Turn it so you slice front to back, like at the deli. Also cold cheese slices easier. There’s a learning curve. You’re getting there

    You're slicing your cheese sideways darling turn it to where you are pushing and pulling the handle and the power button is facing you and it will be a much easier quicker time for you I'm so glad to see you back and in the thick of it! I think a good rule for your freezer challenge would be to reward yourself x amount of dollars for shopping at the grocery store for every jar you Phil or every item you preserve. Say you get 20 Java tomatoes out of your tomatoes that can be say 2 bucks a jar that's 40 bucks ! Just my thoughts you can adapt it to however but for every preservation project you do reward yourself with the Sharp Shopper credits of your choice

    Suggestion for using your hashbrown patties, either use the ground sausage or the links with the egg/cheese mixture. You can individually cut them using the hashbrown patties as your guide for the portion size. This is just my thoughts, use aluminum pans with covers for your freezer meals writing the item and oven temp on it before freezing. Also you can order boxes of individual parchment paper for the size of sheet pan you need. Lays flat on the bottom of the pan. Love watching you channel!

    Hey Jamerrill have you tried chia seed pudding? So easy to make and you can prepare it in advance and take it with you while on a road trip or before/after a run. It’s also a great source of protein so would work well with your THM eating plan. Best wishes from London, England.

    Jamerrill I tried cottage cheese beat up in my scramble eggs. Now it might not sound appetizing but, it melts into the eggs making them so creamy and delicious. You should try it on yourself and then decide if the kids will like it.

    You can adjust the thickness with that dial. also, place a sheet of parchment and do several at a time. They will drop on the parchment paper. If you turn the machine a bit, you will have more control of the cutting and the pieces coming out. OK...well you figured it out a bit, so great. One last thing....the machine should not be moving so much. The suction cups are not holding properly, so maybe they have something under them, stopping them from sticking.

    Jamerrill, thanks for your inspiration. I do have a question ... I live in Porter, TX and we were in the hurricane path. We have not had power for 8 days. Thankfully we were able to take the frozen meats to my sister's house to save them. We had to decide to save what would be the most expensive food to replace. So, my question is ... do you have a back up power source for all the freezers and what is it? This will be our third time this year with power loss and I'm trying to make an informed decision about planning ahead. Thanks in advance. ❤

      I do not live in a heavy hurricane area. I am in the Shenandoah Valley, which is the mountains of Virginia. We have, however, had extreme weather events, but over the many decades I’ve lived here those have been few and far between. I’m saying all this to show you that I am not an expert in living with extreme weather situations. I believe about 15 years ago we had a Detechos event, which knocked Power out to my farm house for over a week. Derechos cause hurricane-force winds, heavy rains, and flash floods. In that season though I had a very small grocery budget of about $250-$350 a month. I did not have loaded freezers. And thankfully when that event happened, we didn’t have much to lose and were able to use what we had. I do have a portable generator, although I do not know how to use it on my own. In the past when we’ve had a power outage, the power has always come back within four hours or so. The USDA says items in freezers will be good for two days or so as long as the doors remain shut. At this point my plan is to continue to learn and exercise my home canning skills. I would like to have more meat ready on the shelves, then in the freezers. My freezers are a requirement though with my Recipe development and full-time food content creation video work that also provides for the people who work for me and my children. And within all that, I really do feed almost a dozen folks all day every day. So, just saying, it’s a little crisscross applesauce here. If my business wasn’t full-time food, I would probably sensibly have two to 3 freezers. But I manage a lot ha ha. I would love to have a whole house back up generator installed within the next few years.

    When you’re taking something from the freezer in a Pyrex, do you let it come to room temp before sticking it in the oven?
    I usually use the aluminum pans with lids to avoid breaking Pyrex. But I’d love to use Pyrex and waste less.

    Things are obviously very different in USA compared to GB . Here we are told that although it is fine to defrost then cook frozen ingredients, into meals etc & then to freeze the result , it is not reccomended to defrost food , then assemble it in to something like the breakfast sandwiches / French toast breakfast bake , then refreeze it un- cooked . As ever divided by a common language. Jamerrill , you have incredible stamina 😮. 🎉

      Thank you for sharing! From the USDA, “Once food is thawed in the refrigerator, it is safe to refreeze it without cooking, although there may be a loss of quality due to the moisture lost through thawing. After cooking raw foods which were previously frozen, it is safe to freeze the cooked foods.” www.fsis.usda.gov/food-safety/safe-food-handling-and-preparation/food-safety-basics/freezing-and-food-safety#:~:text=Once%20food%20is%20thawed%20in,to%20freeze%20the%20cooked%20foods.

      @JamerrillStewart thankyou Jamerrill for the info . Always good to learn , I do think we can get a bit narrow-minded following rules . Apart from free will , one of humanities greatest assets is its adaptability. Keep on running 🏃‍♀️
