I greatly enjoy playing as Eltharion because I enjoy using the Mistwalker units a lot. Usually I stick to Yvresse and abandon the Darklands, but I don't disband Eltharions army - I take the long way and mess with some other potential enemies along the way. I usualy go more north just to smack border princes for quick traits from vamps 👍. Otherwise it is a fun campaign in my opinion. Oh and keep up the good work, love your vids/streams
I tried something a bit different with this campaign, but it made for a fairly interesting narrative. I had Eltharion sail back west at the start of the campaign, but landing midway on the journey to Ulthuan - at Estalia. The climate wasn't entirely favorable, but it was an okay little corner to start an empire in the southern realms, which allowed for a less cumbersome contact between the Yvresse Ulthuan homeland and "overseas possessions". From there it was just a matter of stabilising my holdings in Ulthuan and coordinating from both patches of territory to begin conquering Bretonnia.
Hey @LegendofTotalWar I have been loving this series it’s very useful and your assessments are spot on. I do have a question of what do you think about climate and its impact on the campaign? I just did a badlands eltharion and found myself pretty frustrated with the climates after 30ish turns. There are no green climates except for the 10-15 settlements around gronti. Unless you go to the darklands. I found that frustrating and annoying but do you have some tips about dealing with yellow and red climate or is it just not as high impact as I think it is? Please let me know! I won’t be a internet person and get mad for disagreeing hahaha

I don't know but i feel CA did this starting position exchange for grimgor for a reason
Grimgor came out of the darklands, he's heavily impleid to be from a former slave tribe to the chaos dwarves, his new starting position brings him much closer. Gorbad Ironclaw was a badass i'd like to see come back and looking at the wiki it looks like he came into power in Black Crag, plus his beef is entirely with the empire and they desperatly need some love.
Warden's Cage is often less reliable than desired. Large entities knock targets around wasting precious seconds, and if target is too fast, all that time might have been used to catch up to target. For a more reliable Warden's Cage I highly recommend "Wardens Cage Tweaks" mod. Instead of a snare it makes the target unbreakable and lasts entire battle. If you can win the battle, you get the target imprisoned.
What are some early game tips for attempting to hold both start locations? If you decide to focus on Tor Yvresse, how do you get Eltharion and his starting units back fastest? Stuck full speed boating for a few turns?
I really wish they hadn't downgraded Yvresse's marble resource to pastures, It's hard for me to justify holding onto Yvresse when it's significantly less valuable than before.
FYI, the short-term victory conditions changed in WH3 IE vs WH2 ME. No longer a need to conquer the Dark Elves so the campaign has changed in that way as well
Got the long campaign victory on legendary/veryhard at turn 60 with nothing but t1 archers, spears, 2 eagle claws at most and 4 mistwalkers across 5 armies. Didn't need a single unit of cavalry or sisters let alone phoenix or dragons. Since ranged units allegedly got nerfed, i assumed i'd need to at least get silverin guard to be able to hold the line but silverin guard are basically chosen and never really needed them in the first place. The main reason why battles are too easy with high elves is that even without any AP dmg, t1 archers easily shred t5 armored units with silver shields. If simple arrows couldn't penetrate heavy Khorne armor - as it shouldn't - i'd have had to think of a different way of dealing with them, swordmasters, sisters etc. It really is a sad waste of a very cool roster when t1 archers can basically carry the entire campaign. I recruited an army full of mistwalkers and attacked Lothern just to see the units in battle. I should've needed the Knights of Tor Gaval. They should be dying fighting Be'lakor not be in the roster as a souvenir. Edit: Let's be honest, ultimate campaign victory is as interesting as the end game scenario. Which is a meh at best.

@@Murasame13 Why not. You conquer border princes, Skavenblight, and move to attack Morgur, and finally you attack Grom in Massive Orkal. Result: your empire is connected, and your position is way better then if you try to fight separately in Ulthuan and Badlands.

Great timing! I just started an Eltharion campaign yesterday. I got a question for anyone who wants to answer. How do you manage the income in the early game with the two armies? I was wondering if I should use Eltharion in some kind of hit and run tactic just to gather money and experience while I secure more cities on the doughnut with the other army
I had to use two understength (15 units each) armies to help manage my economy until I could wipe out Wurzag, which is bloody hard when he has a Waaagh! going on Legendary difficulty. The real advantage though is that AI armies will always rush to engage you because you have fewer units meaning less time spent chasing them around. Also using Influence to get ALL the trade agreements ASAP.
Sacking/razing in the Badlands is a good strategy for getting a good war chest going - it still gives you Supplies for your upgrades, but doesn't expand your borders too far before you've built up your Ulthuan territories sufficiently. It also takes some of the heat off of your own Badlands territory as armies will generally focus on ruin-dwelling over engaging - a delaying tactic while you focus on building up your capitol, which gives you the funds to stretch your borders deeper into the Badlands.
fun thing ive found is getting the mod to increase cavills starting trait to one of the better ones and then saving him once he gets to lvl 15, can have an army full of henry cavills with mistwalker traits in any elf campaign
Hey Legend, are you aware of the soul quench exploit where you can cast it and then move when it starts to cast and get a free cast with no cool down? I am sure it works with other characters but it is great with Eltharion!
AI Eltharion always go back to donut,I never see him in that area at all I don't sure if it is same as some lord like empire's lord that get full province if they are AI or his main army just all die everytime
If you decide to just focus on Ulthuan and leave the badlands, is it best to just purposely get Eltharion wounded since you can't disband legendary lords? Otherwise it'd take like 10+ turns to get him back to ulthuan
And another Settra campaign. And another one where Settra has found pointy ears to glue to his crown. And again, Settra does not serve except for ice-cold Asur vengeance. Settra is pleased. And so am I. My Nagarythe campaign fizzled out because the Shadow Walkers still are badly balanced and the faction has annoying climate requirements. So why not give Settra a chance? Been a while since I played high elves proper.
I like keeping the badlands, sacking everything I can until Eltharion is leveled up, I've indoctrinated a few LL and gotten enough money coming in that the economy is kinda broken, then leave and go back to Ulthuan

Is the athel tamara cheese still working for IE? Where you get bonus gold depending on the amount you have in your treasury
Legend Eltharion is my favorite legendary lord, thank you for the advise
i'm loving these vids.
are you taking requests? i'm kinda curious/hesitant to start a grombrindel game
If you mean these campaign reviews, then yes, he does take requests as he says at the end of the video. Also if you mean these campaign reviews, I believe he's already covered Grombrindal.
I'd say there are 4 options, you can also sail the second army to estalia or tilia and conquer a city there.
There's no incentive to do that at all. At that point you could argue that ikit claw has a 2nd option by sailing to the southern chaos wastes for a harder game.
@@Murasame13 I agree it's just like it is a seldom occasion when you start the game and have another starting army that's able to go anywhere.
@@Murasame13 Why not. You conquer border princes, Skavenblight, and move to attack Morgur, and finally you attack Grom in Massive Orkal. Result: your empire is connected, and your position is way better then if you try to fight separately in Ulthuan and Badlands.
What would you say is more fun. Eltharion s vortex campaign in Warhammer 2 or mortal empires in Warhammer 3?
The vortex campaign is like a short campaign with a small map and it is not very hard to play. Wh3 offers you just much more. But the vortex campaign can be usefull to learn the game
@@m_rcus2785 I never played a ME campaign. Is it also story based like Vortex? What I mean by that is if there are still cutscenes and some interesting quest on the way. Thanks for answering by the way
@@dmitrijzajcev9480 No, IE has no narrative. They may integrate some narratives as they get closer to a finished product, but I don't expect that any time soon. RoC is the only narrative-driven campaign in WH3
@@dmitrijzajcev9480 No sadly not. It is actually like the normal campaign of the game.
Eithario's vortex campaign is annoying to me because of a time limit. I don't like the game telling me how fast I should develop my land.
Will you make a community post about livestream?
Will You Upload it later in case one cant make it?
@@Dio_07 Luckily so far most faction reach to me for trading lol so less influence spent!
I am sure it works with other characters but it is great with Eltharion!
yes I'm aware of it.
Hey guys I forgot, how long can you keep someone jailed for again?
And thank you for the video Legend
Infinitely. Until the faction dies basicially. I think they even stay in there, if you make peace with that faction which the prisoner is from.

Morathi next?
doign that campaign right now! thx
i had Be'lakor locked up for the longest time, seems fitting
So if you do the Ulthuan exclusive campaign, then Eltharion has to disband and lose 5 turns, no? Isn't this a pretty bad starting deficit?
so you can't sell yvress if you take a different settlement?
Eltharion is the only High Elf I find fun. Just personally.
Alith Anar calls you a dirty drukhi.
Do a skrolk review next please
what does it matter what legendary lords are where ?
AI Eltharion always go back to donut,I never see him in that area at all
I don't sure if it is same as some lord like empire's lord that get full province if they are AI or his main army just all die everytime
No "See you next time fuckers"? A bit surprising, but I'm certainly looking forward to the stream :>
As always, I want Boris, but also Thorek.
Is the Eltharion wall build time reduction ability still bugged?
If you decide to just focus on Ulthuan and leave the badlands, is it best to just purposely get Eltharion wounded since you can't disband legendary lords? Otherwise it'd take like 10+ turns to get him back to ulthuan
You can disband him by booting him for another Lord. In the character screen I believe.
Very common thing to do
Just replace him with a generic lord then disband generic lord
You can replace Eltharion with a newly recruited lord. And that one you can disband.
Clan Eshin next !
not covering settra anymore Sadge
S.E.T.T.R.R.R.A.A.A.!.!.!.!.!
how does the prison mechanic work in multiplayer? can i put me friend's legendary lord in permanent timeout lmfao
can't even confederate the other high Elfs since I don't own Warhammer 2 but is it really worth spending $80
Buy it on sale high elf are great and if you get their dlc you are getting almost all the units of dark elf too with lizardmen, skaven that are fun to play too
Currently playing his campaign have spent the better part of the game running away from scarbrand And ended up in lustria
Swaniawski Trail
The badlands are horrendous. Takes two turns to travel between most setllements. Horrible. I always just head back to Ulthuan.
Anyone else notice these gradually get longer and longer lol
Is it still possible to make exorbitant amounts of money by jailing a lord, and indefinitely besieging their last settlement after giving them your gold?
I thought that was fixed but maybe not
