Basically everything I know about shooting video has been learned via RUclips, but with no exaggeration this was hands down the most helpful tutorial I've watched to date. Color grading has had me banging my head against the wall so often it had me questioning whether or not I was cut out for this. This video was a game changer, thank you for this!!
This is by far the best tutorial I've seen, and for someone who's only about 9 months in to lightly babbling with correction and looking to become better at it, this is soooo helpful.
Wow! Nobody on RUclips that I've seen has done that 3 adjustment layer color grading approach. It's definitely my favorite approach by far! It helps organize things and clear them up so much! Thank you!!!
This is honestly the best no-nonsense tutorial on colour grading i've seen. I didn't know there was a rec 709 LUT direct from Sony and you've shown me a few tips with the masking! thank you so much!
I never knew about the adjustment layer until I watch the video. Usually I use LUTS on each individual footage as primary color correction. Thank you for the useful tip!
CAN I JUST SAY: im proud that im seeing women doing this line of work and showing the world that they actually do exist cause i only see female photographers but i think this is the first time i see a filmmaker working on color and stuff, and It Was Strange at first
Recently learned that it is possible to add lumetri color before even placing the material on the timeline. Pretty great if you have a pretty complex project, especially multicam
Adopting the trick of using the 3 adjustment layers. Always struggled with the primary corrections on multiple clips this simplifies it so much and it's such a great little trick.
This is a really great tutorial! Most of the tutorials about colour grading these days are just people using their own luts so that they can self-advertise, so this was really refreshing :)
Super helpful tutorial, Becki! I liked the idea colour correction in adjustment layers. I always applied it to individual clips and copied/pasted them over to similar clips. That tip alone's a massive time saver.
I love the separation of 3 adjustment layers. My sorry behind was always adjusting the clips after adding utility luts lol. time to giddy up and create 3 layers. w00t w00t
This was an incredible video. It answered so many questions I wasn't getting answers to after watching countless other color grading videos. Thanks! Subscribed!
Well... This was just plain ol' fantastic!! 👍😊 So helpful and so interesting. It's fascinating to see the different ways people color grade. Thanks for this!!
This was super awesome and helpful!! Thank you!! And I literally busted a gut at the end with the little bloopers.. Thanks for that.. everyone at the coffee shop is looking at me like im a realllllll winner now..
Great tutorial and I liked the pace as well, I know it might be a little too fast for people who are totally new but I appreciate all the information packed into a short amount of time.
Yupp..this was so helpful..i am always confused colouring my videos..colours helps creating the mood and that cinematic look of the video..i am still trying to do this properly.
Awesome video Becki!! Super glad I found our channel! I'm trying to teach myself how to edit to help my wife out, so I have a feeling I'll spend a stupid amount of time on this channel. I'd love to see a more in depth video on the Lumetir Color Scope!! That sounds super interesting! Thanks!
This color grading video is the best so far on entire youtube. It's almost perfect! I've been instructed about the approach to color correct and grade in davinci. My friend been on a expensive course and he been trained by pro who color grade for TV. You are doing similar to this "PRO" way. Congrats!
I don't know if you guys are doing something different in this video compared to past videos, but DAMN, this looks so sharp. Not that you previous stuff has looked soft but something about this video looks waaaayyyyyy crispier. Keep killing it!
To my understanding the changes to the skin tones is called secondary color correction, while the overall look is called color grading (and not secondary correction) primaries: big strokes of correcting and matching footage, secondaries: small strokes focusing on details, grading: giving a final look. anyway just nitpicking terminology - the important take away is to have a consistent and solid workflow like this... great video!
We are just getting into content creation and using Premiere Pro. This video is very helpful to understand the process you use and improvement to our workflow. There is so much we have to learn. Your videos are really helpful.
Very cool! A great way to put it. Most of the time I just stack the effects in one adj.layer, or apply basics on the clips, but this is a more organized way of doing it. Cheers!
Very informative. I subscribed just on the fact that I learned more from this one video than any other instructional video I watched on this topic so far. Nice work 👍🏽
This is awesome great Tutorial, Though I would make a small note for those who shoot SLOG, if you want to take full advantage of SLOG, do not apply the conversion LUT on the 1st adjustment layer, that defeats the whole purpose of SLOG. Use the conversion LUT on the second adjustment layer. So when you do a color correction, you are affecting LOG information and not the converted REC709. Anyways great work, I can see how much effort went to making this video.
So interesting to watch someone else colour grade! I had no idea on the masking HSL secondary - going to try it out on my next project! Thanks for all the tips, looking forward to your LOG tutorial :D
This is great. I'm an Premiere user but have been grading in Resolve lately. I like to edit in Premiere as so knowing your grading workflow works well for me to stay within Premiere.
I've been watching your videos off and on for a while. I'm impressed with how good you've gotten on camera. Bravo. I also love seeing video tech tutorials by women. I'm excited to see what you do next!
I liked the video without even seeing it for 10 seconds!! [Laughing out loud in Spanish] This is the video we all were waiting for, so for that, thank you! 🙏🏼 [Puts palms together in reverence]
Wow! I was blown out of the water. Way over my head but I enjoyed the video. Good job in repurposing some video clips. I do miss the millennium falcon.
Exactly what I needed!!! Thank youu! Just started making weekly vlogs with my hubby and we’re 3 deep (my editing is terrible lol) but getting better following your tutorials and advice 🙌❤️ going to try this technique on our next vid 🤩
You are amazing! Thanks for taking the time to share your process! I've learned so much since I found your channel. I can't wait for the next tutorial! But I don't get out effect
These people are more professional than half the RUclips channels available. They are very professional. Their way of teaching is really great too
This is by far the best tutorial I've seen, and for someone who's only about 9 months in to lightly babbling with correction and looking to become better at it, this is soooo helpful.
I have watched allot of tutorials regarding color correction and grading tutorials. But trust me this one was the most detailed one
Wow! Nobody on RUclips that I've seen has done that 3 adjustment layer color grading approach. It's definitely my favorite approach by far! It helps organize things and clear them up so much! Thank you!!!

Seiyoshin glad it was useful!
Just a newbie here with, struggling learning Premiere and color grading, and now his jaw dropped to the floor. Thanks for sharing!
Wow! I would love an in-depth course... this vid is sooo much better than what I’ve seen so far on YT on grading LOG footage... very practical
Wow that was a lot to digest. I need to watch this about 30 more times. Thank you for sharing.
Separate adjustment layers is a brilliant tip. Thank you!
CAN I JUST SAY:
im proud that im seeing women doing this line of work and showing the world that they actually do exist cause i only see female photographers but i think this is the first time i see a filmmaker working on color and stuff, and It Was Strange at first
😭 thank you!!!!

This is the first colour grading tutorials i ever seen, deeply explanations thanks for this
Adopting the trick of using the 3 adjustment layers. Always struggled with the primary corrections on multiple clips this simplifies it so much and it's such a great little trick.
Thank you times a million. I have watched many tutorials and your video is the first time I actually have a grasp of what I should be doing.
This is a really great tutorial! Most of the tutorials about colour grading these days are just people using their own luts so that they can self-advertise, so this was really refreshing :)
Best teacher yet. Love this video.
I love your work ...I am barely starting to shoot music videos and now am editing and color correcting..your videos help alot. thank you
Super helpful tutorial, Becki! I liked the idea colour correction in adjustment layers. I always applied it to individual clips and copied/pasted them over to similar clips. That tip alone's a massive time saver.
I love the separation of 3 adjustment layers. My sorry behind was always adjusting the clips after adding utility luts lol. time to giddy up and create 3 layers. w00t w00t
The Patels makes it easier for sure, though I’ve definitely been caught adjusting clips!
a year late but by far the most helpful color correction video Ive seen
This was an incredible video. It answered so many questions I wasn't getting answers to after watching countless other color grading videos. Thanks! Subscribed!

Great tutorial and I liked the pace as well, I know it might be a little too fast for people who are totally new but I appreciate all the information packed into a short amount of time.
Coming from Resolve for color grading but now I m using ProRes raw still impossible to use with, your tutorial is particularly appreciated.
Hope the Lumetri Video is coming out soon, this is so helpful.
Yupp..this was so helpful..i am always confused colouring my videos..colours helps creating the mood and that cinematic look of the video..i am still trying to do this properly.
I'm new and this helped me understand it a bit more. My next videos will be a bit better :) Thank you so much!

Great breakdown! Loved how you were able to take many complex topics and distill it to a 16 minute video
she explains it so well... i can see where her beauty is coming from..but nice work..
We are just getting into content creation and using Premiere Pro. This video is very helpful to understand the process you use and improvement to our workflow. There is so much we have to learn. Your videos are really helpful.

Awesome, thanks guys! Did you make that separate video on how to shoot and edit log?
One of the most helpful videos ever! Thank you thank you.

good to know that i'm not the only one who's intrigue on how you color your videos. thanks so much for this.
OMG, a PP tutorial that isn't super annoying, with a massively delayed intro to the good stuff with a person that talks way too slow. Subscribed.
This is a REAALLY really great tutorial! Thank you!!!
