I'm moving there next month! Novi Sad actually. I've lived in Munich, USA, Thailand, and Colombia, and of all travels I always remember Serbia as the best place I've been and kept friends there. Can't wait to be out of the US again! I have a year lease already in NS, and will be wanting to get my residence permit, so I will need to get a lawyer. I invest a lot in stocks and I plan to let that compound for 4 years and then live off the interest from then on. I would like to learn more about investing in Serbia though! I'll msg you
XWolven, I stayed in Novi Sad just over a year ago for almost 7 weeks, and the people there were fantastic, the women are beautiful and toned, the food was great and the prices on almost everything are dirt cheap compared to America. So I definitely feel your passion for Novi Sad. It is the absolute best place in Europe I've ever been to, hands down. Peace and love!

The reason its hard to find ADHD meds/treatments in Belgrade, is because in Europe in general, we don’t consider ADHD to be a disorder. We don’t think its good having kids take meds from young age just because they are different and have different attention spawn.
That’s a good philosophy. I honestly believe that the drugging of children in the US is a factor in crimes such as school shootings. When I was growing up in the 80’s, school shootings were unheard of. Drugging children for being “inattentive”was also unheard of.
@Дејан Раковић hyperactive and short attention span kids have more energy, they need activities modified for them to stimulate them and probably sport activities instead of drugs.
By watching videos of people visiting Serbia, I really think the place is something special, a unique culture, a special people, excellent looking food, despite architecture not looking their best in all places. Србија је добро!

Serbia isn't unsafe, in Mexico you always have to worry. Come here first, you can always go to Mexico later. Egypt might be cheaper then Mexico from Belgrade if you stay in an all-inclusive resort, like under 500 euros for 7 days: www.kontiki.rs/
I am so glad that you settled your soul in Belgrade - your love and peace can't be hidden...And it is the same as mine and I live in Belgrade all my life...I still walk around and just say to myself "how beautifull is this city" for just an "ordinary" street or square....because this city is loved for its energy and that is indescribable...Somehow you just feel that life is simple and beautiful, when you feel it - it is addictive Welcome and stay happy 😘
Congratulations on getting your Serbian Citizenship for one year. It's nice that when you walk around you don't see any homeless people sitting around. Glad that everything is working out well for you in Serbia and Best wishes for the future.
Great video mate! I'm so happy for you! 👍 And what a better proof that Belgrade is safe than walking around in the middle of the night for half an hour filming with camera! 😂 You're right, people should change the place if they don't feel quite right. I'll be back in Belgrade in June after spending 6 months back in the USA . I'd like to stay longer like you in Belgrade. I was there last summer and fall. Great show , I have better friends in Serbia than in the USA. You didn't mention how friendly the girls are compared to the USA and Canada. And I don't mean in a disrespectful way. A single man with ethics can meet a super nice girl.
Great work! I was born in Beograd but live in Canada. I am also IT consultant. Belgrade is calling!!! But you better become Red Star fan! Онда, кад сам у Београду, weeezz gonna have some serious fun. 😁🇷🇸🙏

I have a plan to settle in Serbia. I will be launching a company. I'll move to Serbia next year... Will contact you when I'll be ready. And congratulations for residency Visa
You seem to be genuinely positive person, so I'd say you fit in downtown Belgrade well. People are mostly welcoming and congenial but more strict in their values than in the US. As a matter of fact, people in Serbia still have their values; family, church, honor, respect for elderly.. They are usually accommodating, spiritual and not so materialistic and they don't judge you based on your wealth and most of them are generous. It is always a good idea to surround yourself with people like that. Same as negativity, positivity is contagious. You are absolutely right when you say that you don't like what USA has become. Kids are rude and entitled, parents helpless and confused. Government has become oppressive, perhaps even tyrannic. Florida, Texas and few other states being exception to the rule.. Basic human rights are being breached; right to speak freely, right to move freely, right to chose treatment.. The level of brainwashing by the mainstream mass media is incredible, worst than in Stalin's Russia. People have become scared of their own shadow. Racial and political tensions insane, hate is everywhere. From the land of the brave and free, USA has become doom and gloom, one of the most backward countries in the World. But the worst part is that people are broken, spiritless and with no self-preservation instinct. I have no pleasure in stating this, and I wish for USA to be the great country it has been up until recently, but the fact is that it is probably the worst country to be in right now, and it will only get worse. In the past six months the inflation has been 300% (i.e. 2' x 4' was $3 last year and now is $10), the terrible human crisis is happening at the border, unemployment is growing, the buying power of ordinary people has gone down the tubes and the spectacular economy prior to covid-19 is on its last leg. People are depressed, suicide, poverty and homelessness are becoming the national problem. Not saying that Government in Serbia is great, far from that, but it is really hard to be worse than demented Biden's administration. Sounds crazy, but Belgrade (and many other places on Earth) is for the time being place to be, and California is a third World country. I envy your freedom at this moment, while watching your broadcast from North America. I am seriously considering relocating myself and escaping this madness here.

You look like a really good guy. I'm happy that you found your place. I'm planning on retiring abroad next March. Ecuador is my first choice. But Serbia is now on my radar.
Paraguay has a good permanent residence program $4500 in the bank + ~$250 USD in fees if you don't use a lawyer (which I suggest you do to cut through the red tape): residencies.io/ Mexico also has a residency program for retirees since SE Asia is down for the long haul.
@@bradbeckett Thanks for the info Brad - hadn't thought about Paraguay. Will check that out. Spent some time in Mexico and it doesn't suit me. Ecuador is very liberal - now proof of $400/month income and health insurance is what you need for a retirement visa ... temporary residency. After about 2.5 years permanent residency. Next pass the test and get a passport. Least that's what I researched to date. Things changing fast everywhere. Considered Thailand and Phillipines but they are off my list. Serbia, Montenegro and Georgia on my list. Places I really want to settle in won't have me.
Nice video!, my wife and I bought a house in West Serbia , Bajina Bašta, for tourist rental. Business goes good, Serbia is still affordable to make a business. I'm Belgian and can't afford such investments in my home town. My wife is born and raised in Bajina Bašta so that definitely helped us to make the decision. Hope you stay in Serbia and are happy and successful. May our paths cross one day.
I feel the same way. I can compete with US businesses in the same sector really well, more like they cannot compete with me. I still make a decent amount of money for Serbia and live well without all the stress and rat-race of Western societies.
Hi Brad, I am glad you are happy so far, but still be careful who you connect with. I live in Serbia and I would like you to have a great life if you decide staying here.

You have also direct flight from New York City (JFK airport) to Belgrade by Air Serbia. Every Monday, Thursday and Saturday, and in the opposite direction also on the same days.
Didn't realize that. Thanks for the info. Got to put into port somewhere when (if) I go back, and JFK passport control was working pretty efficiently last time I wen through. That was prior to Crazy Time, but it should be even easier now with fewer international travelers.
Air Serbia is currently operating flights from JFK to Belgrade every Monday and Thursday-Saturday. I know cause I was checking flights as I’m moving from the USA to Serbia . Like Brad I dislike what America is becoming . America has changed, it isn’t what it used to be . I lived all over the world and came back to the US in 1997 . Things were great until 911 . Then it just seems that everything was going downhill from there . Anyways I’m moving in June . Brad I have a few questions for you . ( BTW love your videos , keep them coming ) Where or how is the best way to reach you privately ? Is Instagram the only way ? I don’t really use social media platforms ….. sorry I’m old school. 😊 Thanks in advance for your time.

I will stay in a hotel for 3 days in Belgrade and move to Novi sad and visit Subotica. You said let go of your precisions and head out. My long turn goal is to retire and move to Serbia. if you have any advise please feel free to reach out to me.
Dump everything on your way out of the US, don't have reoccurring bills back in the US, sell, give away, or trash anything that isn't a heirloom. Sell your house, don't just rent it out. Start preparing ASAP and the universe will lead you. If you end up not liking Serbia for retirement (winters) you can move to Thailand or elsewhere but try to be as free as a bird. Don't put junky old furniture into a $300 a month storage, don't store your car, get rid of it all. I got rid of everything in 3 weeks and simply had my SUV towed away. People were actually asking if I was planning suicide.

You probably could get a residence permit in Romania: emerging-europe.com/news/romanias-digital-nomad-visa-might-be-the-most-accessible-yet/ I'd say go to Albania but it appears only US passports get an entire year there for free. Maybe try Georgia (the republic of). Georgia gives you a year I believe and it's really cheap. This would allow you to figure out an online income. Don't have reoccurring bills back home or it'll kill your budget.

@NoobMaster69 Yeah fully agrred. I read an article few years back that if someone in former Yugo said they were going to a therapist, they be given a weird look as it is not done there, and most problems weee solved by talking to people....well we know how well that works, not lol

I will be going there soon and once there, arrange the long term stay, open bank accounts, start or open up a Company, find a good accountant and lawyer etc. Then come back to Oz and finish up here....rental lease, move my things over (one pallet only as getting rid of 95% of my things here), closing my electricity/internet etc accounts, apply for Career break with my employer as a Plan Z lol And then go back to Serbia permanently. Why do people have that 'fear' factor about Serbia? I just don't understand. Anyway - great to hear from your perspective. Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Malaysia.
If you search for "Yugoslavia" on RUclips it's literally all bad for like the first 10 pages, there's a travel video from the 80's, then all bad for the next 10 pages. Surely, there has to be a documentary on the good times in Yugoslavia but I believe that information is obviously being suppressed by tech companies in the west.
Drop shipping always seemed like a scam to me. You do the most difficult expensive work (marketing, selling). Then some other company gets all your client list, etc..I always felt all they needed to do is drop me and they had all my clients..smh..I just buy my own stuff and sell it. Then if I fail, all I can blame is myself. I imagine one day I'll be living in serbia at least a few months a year. Buying a plot of land in a few months..and gradually build my house. Then I can imagine being in serbia at least 3 months per year. And we will see how that develops.
How long do you think before we will see a sharp increase in prices (e.g. real estate) in Belgrade? Btw it's very nice to see you are doing well and that you love it there!
I am a licensed real estate agent, and i can tell you that purchase prices already went up sharply during the pandemic. But if you wanted to know if our prices will reach UK,Manhatan or Japan, nope, never going to happen, except for some really, really exclusive and rare real estates :) In our opinion, prices in Belgrade are already too high and the general prediction in our line of work is that they will probably go up for no more than 10% and then fluctuate +-20% depending on the moment, current economy, which part of the city is popular atm, whats going on in the world, etc. Prices that have a bigger posibility of going up more, are rental ones, for flats, hotel rooms, hostels, etc. We've seen a significant increase of tourist in the past few years,so if ur looking to invest in real estates here, that would be the place to do it. But ofc, this is as short as i could try to give you the data..giving you the real info would take much more time 😂
How hard is it if you don’t speak the language? Of course the plan would be to learn the language but how tough is it initially to get by only knowing English.
What is the best way to network in Serbia? You have been very successful in meeting the right people to help you business wise and seem to have a local friend/support network.
As a Serbian I will write my opinion on networking in Serbia. First of all it depends on who you are, what you want to do in Serbia and where you want to live - big city, smaller city, village, mountain... Do you know anyone in Serbia? If you dont know a single person there obviously you have to start from somewhere, someone. If you meet one right person all of your connections could be solved easily. Many things in Serbia get done thru connections and most of the people deal with anything in that manner. People there are very connected and used to this. Its not that people keep in touch just because they will need some favor from each other, but we genuinely care about whoever we meet and then when you need someone to help you out they are happy to help & vice versa. Lets say, usually you can knock on your neighbours doors (even if you dont hang out with them or dont know their name) at any time day/night if you are needing something urgently. Even as a complete foreigner, if you need some help, you can approach anyone who looks normal and ask for whatever that is reasonable. Maybe they want be able to help you, but they wont be rude and will try to give you at least some advice on how to solve your issue. Just dont be affraid to ask, usually people are very eager to help out a foreigner especially. Its a consequence of all of the bad media representation of Serbs and ppl feel this urge to show that its not like that & ppl are inherently hospitable. There are exemptions ofcourse, like everywhere. There are shady ppl who could try to scam you, but it can happen in some irrelevant situation. Like with taxi drivers, or hair stylist charging you 1-2$ more than regular price is and similar. If you dont do business with "big fishes" no one would do something so huge to destroy your life. I have no idea what is your situation so I dont know what advice to give. In general, easiest way to get residence permit is to buy a property in Serbia. Any kind of property counts. It can be a cottage in some mountain, really cheap, and you are getting residence permit. Prices of apartments in Belgrade, Novi Sad are going up right now, like everywhere, so it depends what you want/ can/ need. Outside of the city centers there are still cheaper prices and everywhere is safe to walk at any given moment, public transportation is good, taxis reasonable prices (if regular taxis; many scammers operate). If u will own a car, better not to be in city center, finding a free parking place has become a nightmare. Although its possible if you plan things out first. Houses in villages anywhere, even in those close to the big cities are quite cheap. It depends what you want. Other way to get a residency permit is to open a company. From what Ive picked up, it seems very easy to do so. There are many videos from digital nomads on yt which go into details on how that process goes. I didnt pay attention that much on that cuz I am Serbian. There are also many videos from people who have retired in Serbia and all of those details. Networking- if u have no concrete proffesional plan or anything, start from someone like dentist. Maybe it sounds crazy but people like your dentist, hair dresser, cashier at the local supermarket, maybe some doctor can connect you to basically anyone that you could need. I am saying this cuz dentist are not expensive in Serbia, we all need them, they are very good, friendly and ready to help you out. I am from Serbia, but my dentist has multiple times connected me with the proffesionals from some other branches when I needed them. Or some doctor, private clinics are everywhere in Serbia, literally every neighbourhood has some good private clinic for everything, also quite cheap. Regular control or check up wont hurt you. U wont pay more than 50$ and at the end of your visit to this doctor u can freely say- hey doc, as you see I just came here, I am thinking to look into options on living/ working here, do you maybe know a lawyer or an accountant with whom I could discuss my issue. Chances are 90+% this doc has contact on your person and is very happy to help u out and provide new client to hes friend/ client... Literally anyone you meet can be very heplful, we all know someone or someone who knows someone. Now, making friends is different thing. It depends on what are your interests. It is not difficult if you are wanting to make friends. Just remember, if someone looks shady, or you have this feeling, they most probably are shady. Be open but dont let yourself completely in from the very beginning. Ppl whose stories are extremely grandiose and who are extremely polished could be trying to use you. Dont brag too much, if there is something you could brag about. There are that kind of people who get attracted and they are slick... People are usually very goodhearted and its obvious when its so, if something smells fishy dont ignore it. I am not saying most definitely its someone bad, but dont be seduced by all of the good things so much that u start believing there is no one crooked. If you have the time and means, start slowly. Get used to the surroundings, lifestyle, mentality, culture. You will meet professionals easily and make good friends eventually. Even in small villages you can get very nice people to hang out with you, even thou they maybe dont even speak english. It is very possible, literally anywhere. You can communicate with pan&paper, cell phone, showing stuff around in any way, no one would mind & no one would take it as something weird, crazy, scary, stupid or anything like that. If you go there, just be open & friendly, dont be shy, but dont be foolishly naive. Ah yes, important in networking, ppl will gladly help you whenever you need it, you dont overabuse it. I mean, dont be rude. Maybe u will need a lot of favors from someone and that is ok, ppl will have understandong and wont mind it. But show respect, even only verbally is enough. Or something as a gesture of graditude. Chocolate, flowers, it doesnt have to be expensive at all. Serbian ppl are naive and get used easily, they dont realise this until its very obvious, but then they become pissed at themselves and frustrated that someone is so untactful. It wont damage you in any material/ physical way if u use someone, but u will lose a possibility to deepen this connection with someone who was sincere to you. If you emotionally hurt or abuse some goodhearted person, there is no way back. If someone invites you to their home and offers you all kinds of stuff, food&drinks (without trying to get something from you) just for having pleasant time, this person loves you and u can trust them. All the best, no matter what choice you make in the end :-)

How many banks did you approach before you opened an account at Raiffeisen? Charles Cather told me that every bank in Novi Sad declined his request to open an account because of his American citizenship (presumably because of FATCA rules and the like).
I hired professional help (Sandra) and she took me directly to Raiffeisen which has been good. I was never denied anything or ran into any roadblocks at anytime for anything here.
Nice overview of pros about living in Belgrade... $350 will pay rent for a furnished 2 or 3 bedroom in Belgrade... Elsewhere, it will be less. Food is inexpensive... Thousand bucks a month is plenty for a family to live on in Serbia
350 usd per month? No sorry. Its 650 usd for a two bedroom place here now in the citycentre, minimum, and probably more like 800 for something very nice.
So to open the company with the deposit in a personal account can you put USD cash in a bank account as the deposit? Or does it have to be a bank transfer or in euro's thanks?
Cool city. Rents are insane though and what you get for your money isn't very nice. Is this the norm now for Serbia? Seems as expensive as Europe but not as nice.
That's true for Belgrade and Novi Sad but there are many other places that have been unaffected like Nis and Subotica, so there's still hope for new people.
Have you ever visited Krusevav, little but nice town with lot of "banja's", moutains. Lot of people from Belgrade come here to live because it is 2 to 3 times cheaper to libe here, food on market is also cheaper, taxis are 3 to 5 time cheape and so on. Very helpful and informative, thanks Brad. It seems everyone pays the same monthly tax regardelss of work and income. How much is it, can you share please?
Taxes are a complicated situation. DOO (LLC in the west) pays 15% tax rate while entrepreneurs pay a tax rate that is set for their industry and zip code. Not everybody pays the same. There are ways to mitigate, not evade taxes here just like in the west. If you are smart you can legally pay very little taxes here.
@@bradbeckett I'm asking about the monthly tax payable even if you've had no paid work. There is no corporation tax (as the company hasn't had any revenue), but you personally have to pay some amount every month, right? This is the setting: an IT guy comes to settle in Serbia, sets himself up a company to work remotely, gets his residency, work permit etc, all legal and above board but finds no work and has no earned income in Serbia for x number of months. I'm trying to understand the fixed monthly personal tax payable in the mean time.
THY isn’t that pet friendly coz it’s the only major airlines charging by the weight of pets. Other EU ones charge by the size of the cage. But it’s relatively cheaper than other major ones, depending on your areas. I paid 700 only for a round trip from Belgrade to Houston , jfk to Paris two months ago. Lol

Vraćaj se u dedovinu, ovde se sada SKORO jako lepo živi ukoliko si iole vredan. Naredne 2-3 godine će biti presudne, meni se čini da stvarno ide na bolje.

Thanks for the info Brad - hadn't thought about Paraguay.

Not sure yet... but soon. Please don't forget to subscribe and hit the bell icon!
I am a licensed real estate agent, and i can tell you that purchase prices already went up sharply during the pandemic.
But if you wanted to know if our prices will reach UK,Manhatan or Japan, nope, never going to happen, except for some really, really exclusive and rare real estates :)
In our opinion, prices in Belgrade are already too high and the general prediction in our line of work is that they will probably go up for no more than 10% and then fluctuate +-20% depending on the moment, current economy, which part of the city is popular atm, whats going on in the world, etc.

What is the best way to network in Serbia? You have been very successful in meeting the right people to help you business wise and seem to have a local friend/support network.
Sorry for spamming you with questions but I’m really considering the move
Hi Brad. If you ever gonna need emloyee i'll be glad to work for you 😁😇🤫, I'm Help Desk Specialist. So glad to see that things are working out well for you. Wish you all the best luck man. Keep it up.
We need migrants like you not from middle east salute.
Dobro nam dosao.👍👍👍
Haha we all get out of our comfort zone when we have to work!😂
Nice overview of pros about living in Belgrade...
Honestly hearing some awesome things about Belgrade. Are you thinking of buying real estate?
I will when I can show the bank income from my company.
Wow 👏👏
If you want I can welcome you, I have small apartment but there are free beds as I live alone. I am willing to drive you Kopaonik, Vrnjacka banja, Soko banja, Jasrtrebac if you want to see this part of Serbia (central Serbia). Of course, I am working man so if you are willing I think that I will find a lot o f time in July.
Thank you for the invite. I must remain in Belgrade right now though. I will come see it in the future. Thanks again, Brad
@@bradbeckett When ever you want, I will find free time for you if you want to visit central Serbia, of course everything will fre for you, I don't have a lot of money so I want you to see how it is to live that way. I have for food, for gas, for everythin I need, and I live in center of town and will show you parts of cenral Serbia which is very diferent of Belgrade.
LOL Go where you're treated best. By the way did you meet Erik? is it his company your linked to for contracting help desk?
No Eric Mutt and I are in similar industries but do not work together.
@@bradbeckett Could I get your Whatsapp sometime to talk over at Instagram or something? Things in this video I want to ask about in moving there since I'm moving next month.
How many 7ft tall guys have you seen in the streets?
Americans are starting to get Serbian citizenship, we have come full circle.
I'm still pretty far away from that unfortunately. Almost one year down as of August 13th. Only 4 more to go for permanent residency then if I get that I most definitely will apply for citizenship.
Hi how is it now c word restrictions wise? We are thinking of moving there in the summer 😊
Come!! It's one of the least restricted places you'll find.
@@bradbeckett thank God. Delighted to hear it!
You can get free Vaccine if you want. Im dont understand why you need to pay taxes if you did not have any income...
Zato što ima otvorenu firmu, plaća takse što drži firmu nema veze sa doprinosima za doprinose ide drugačija računica.
If you open your company, you have to pay taxes. That’s something normal. If you buy a house, you have to pay tax no matter if you don’t live there.
You have to pay a minimum tax of about 90 euros per month for having a DOO open regardless of income or not.
@@bradbeckett I already pay yearly 10, 000 euros in tax in my home Country. And I have to pay tax here too? Ah well...
haha very funny video. Definitely an accountant contact would be useful. Thanks
When you did border run 🏃♂️
Did they inforce only 90 days in a 180 day period? Can you leave and come right back?
THY isn’t that pet friendly coz it’s the only major airlines charging by the weight of pets. Other EU ones charge by the size of the cage. But it’s relatively cheaper than other major ones, depending on your areas. I paid 700 only for a round trip from Belgrade to Houston , jfk to Paris two months ago. Lol
I think the universe wants you to swim in that blue fountain...
