Glad you enjoying it here, as a Serbian I lived in NYC 16 years and I decided to move back and no regrets !
@@nycdogs same thoughts here
Brad, I've been following your channel since the very beginning when you arrived in Serbia.
I'm very glad you stayed here because Serbia needs GOOD PEOPLE and we recognize them immediately.
That's why you're very welcome here and we consider you ours.
Congrats on your permanent residence!
Thank you for speaking so well of my people. We are far from perfect, but we are generous and friendly. I miss that special friendliness so open and without pretending . Much regards from a Serbian in Canada.
Serbian people are famous for their hospitality, they are tolerant, merciful and all those nice things

An American moving to Krusevac, that is so cutting edge, talk about breaking new ground, congrats!
Greetings from FL!
It's all about finding the right fit for you, wherever that may be. Thanks for the greetings from Florida!
Kruševac is very cool :)
Kruševac’s got Ribarska Banja (Fisherman’s spa) that with its healing water is one of the best attractions around Kruševac town.
I want HOT water not slightly above luke warm. Any idea where I can find that?
lol my hometown! I moved to the Netherlands from Krusevac two years ago and I miss my home. Krusevac is a very nice and vibrant city.
La Grande Serbie éternelle.

Cudos to the person holding camera for probably walking sideways or backwards all the way through busy Knez MIhailova street. Good job champ!
Yea, I was thinking the same. 😂
KUDOS to the guy, indeed!!!
Serbia is the currently the only country in Europe where everyone is welcome! That’s what I love and always loved about it. This part of southern Europe is amazing! Love the southeast Europe aka. Adriatic Area! Bravooo Brad!
@@AN09AN Not for long though, everything has and end.
Everyone, but native Serbians.

Thanks Brad for the update great job
Stay tuned for a new video soon...
Congrats on your permanent residence!

@@bradbeckettBrad, Can foreigner’s purchase land to build a house on ?
Generally yes if you are from a country Serbians can own property unless it’s classified as agricultural land then you cannot. So it varies depending on the zoning of the land.
Good for you I am from cape town enjoying Serbia we planning to come to see Serbia on two years time my self going up in Switzerland but from Serbia now living in cape town part time in Dubai is very interesting thank you for update
Sve najbolje druze
It's been a while since you uploaded. I'm glad to see that you are alive and kicking
Thanks. I kinda miss it but on the other hand I am happy with my life and what I have thus why I upload genuine videos so casually. Whenever I have something good to report basically. If I start getting traction again I might make more interesting videos about Serbia and beyond.
I have been watching you from the beginning. Thank you for sharing my wonderful country with the world. It is truly a magical place 🥰🫶🇷🇸
Good to see you man.
Hvala! It's good to be back.
So glad you came back to youtube! Hope you are doing fine, you look good and calm.
Thanks! It's great to be back, and yeah, Serbia has been good to me! 😊
Good to see you again. I first moved to Belgrade in 2007, but these days I spend much of my time in Russia. I still may move back to Serbia one day, but with the rents the way there are I have completely ruled out Belgrade in terms of renting. As you say, better somewhere like Subotica which will have a high speed train link to Belgrade soon. Or maybe i'll just buy an old house fairly near a city, renovate it and spend no money on rent at all. Happy new year.
Užice is good and cheap, good people ;)
@@radicr I draw the line at Uzice 😁
Lots of smaller towns still affordable but property prices have gone trough the roof all over Serbia
I am so glad to hear that your doing well and like it there. Thank you for update and work! God bless!
Good to see you’re doing well!
The legend is back!. Thanks for the update.
Brad. Wow, I've been following you since your first vid in Serbia. I'm looking at you from the Caribbean. I would really love to get up there someday. Be well brother.
It's amazing how much things can change in four years, huh? I hope you come and check it out one day soon! Thank you for your support!
@bradbeckett for sure brother. Keep posting we'll keep watching.

Yay a Brad video drops! Hello from Florida.
Thanks for sticking around... you should make the move before the next disaster in the US. Doubt anything will really change under the new regime.

Great that you got permanent residence finally
Living in Serbia is a great experience and I no longer have to worry about not being able to live here long term. It’s such a relief!
2020 really changed a lot of peoples lives. It’s great to see your doing good😊
Absolutely. 2020 was a transformative year for many of us, and it brought both challenges and opportunities for growth. It's amazing how digital nomads can adapt and thrive even in tough times. Here's to continuing on this positive path forward!
what is like i paradise, some say its boring, some say its awesome
So glad you posted an update. I really enjoy your videos, I sometimes go back and rewatch some of your older ones. I need to get out of the United States.
Start reducing your personal possessions by listing them on Craigslist and OfferUp from your home and save up cash. This will signal to the universe you are ready to leave and a path may clear. It did for me. Takeaway: become a minimalist, cancel subscriptions, save cash, make your move and live somewhere cheap. Look into the Thailand DTV visa, it only requires a savings account showing $15,000 USD ONCE for a 5 year visa.
Hey Brad, happy to have you!
Hvala! Thanks for checking in!

I really enjoy your video's. Thanks for uploading 🙏🏻
The food is mind-blowingly good in Serbia and all over the West Balkans
Please stop using that propaganda term “western balkans” - we are southern Europe to be exact southeastern Europe - aka. Adriatic region.
Let’s not buy into their BS by calling it western balkans. All the best brother :)
Good luck to you my "San Diego buddy"! I'm "too old and too cold" for Serbia, so I've relocated to (the deserts of) Palm Springs, CA - instead of my native Serbia(Pancevo). I do miss Serbian food, though; Serbia is foodies' paradise!
San Diego here, originally from Nis, it’s too cold for me. California really spoiled me.
Glad to hear things are still going so well for you! 👍
Good to see you back on RUclips Brad. Bureaucracy is no longer an issue here it's been at least 6-7 years. Serbs treat foreigners very well. I was born in an area with a lot of foreigners married to a Yugoslavian partner. When the war started the police came to inform them they can leave the country, none of my foreign neighbors left us. I also like the fact that you always say we/us, which means you are one of us already. 😊 Thank you!
Congratulations Brad!! & Happy new Year! 🥂
We are looking to go there, not sure when or how as I am a Malaysian, I can't just buy an air ticket & go. Anyway, that was a helpful and wonderful video. Thanks

Thanks for the well wishes! Serbia has been a great choice for me.
God Bless you 🙏
It would be cool to run into you! We visited last January! And will be back in July. We want to move there too! BELGRADE is wonderful!
Congratulations. As a serbian myself *from the city of Nis) i can say a lot of people are chaotic and do not bring or present their required documents when applying. Therefor a reason why it went faster with you. And maybe in addition they want to impress a foreigner. We plan to relocate to Serbia in a few months. Wishing you all the best.
I heard About The People's Of Serbia They Are Very Kind & nice
Thank you for saying nice things about us. All true though 😊
Congratulations!
Thank you! 🙏

Very good video about ordinary life.
It is an ordinary life that I am enjoying very much. 👍
@@bradbeckett I meant to say everyday life, not that is just ordinary. I think it is beautiful.
Congrats bud
Couldn't make living in Serbia, moved to Florida, for 17 years and counting. Belgrade is expensive as Miami. I'm glad you like it there. Welcome to Serbia.
If you like Florida weather, I highly recommend Thailand. 🇹🇭
@@bradbeckettis Thailand safe? How expensive? Thinking about retiring there.
The bureaucracy in Serbia has got MUCH better in recent years, and I've been here more than 25 years. In the last five years, because of online services, I have almost never had to wait in a line or run paperwork around town, it's a huge improvement, I just think a lot of locals still haven't caught up to that. Also, some stuff has way LESS bureaucracy than in the West. You can buy or sell property and the procedure can be done literally in a couple of days if you are a cash buyer. You could never do that in the UK for example. Of course there are many downsides to the way Serbian bureaucracy and the whole system works but that's another story.
I u drugim zemljama ima negativnosti, kako sistemi funkcionišu, npr. zapošljenje, zdravstvo, školstvo, poreski sistem etc.
Good to see you again! You brought it up, so yes, I ve noticed the weight gain. Looks good though. More mature. Cheers!
Serbia took refugees from Croatia and Bosnia in 1990s, too. I was one of them.
Greetings from Serbia :) You are welcome :)
Thanks 🎉from Miami 🇺🇸. Miami super expensive . A average apartment 1 bedroom 2400$
Hi Brad great video
Thanks for watching. I’m glad you liked it.
@@bradbeckett Very helpful, Serbia was on my list but one of my close friends died there during covid, he was a famous serbian astrologer. I was too sad to come, he is greatly missed.
would be nice to see Novi Sad and any other towns of interest to live in
smart guy
Good to see and know you’re still here with us. 🫡 Times and opportunities change, but Serbs don’t. 🍻
It’s so funny you say that. I took a Serbian friend to the PTT Museum in Belgrade and there was a very old photo showing Serbian telephone line men from the 1930’s or somewhere around that time. I said if you shaved their mustaches and gave them fade haircuts nobody would notice they were from a different period of time. I agree. Serbs still do generally look the same or very similar to their great great great grandparents.
@ that’s for sure, I also feel like it is easy to recognize us (Serbs) abroad, even by the looks only. 😀
But in my previous comment I tried to refer to other stuff as well, not only the appearance, but the way we respect tradition also, and the way we warm-welcome every single foreign guest that comes to Serbia, no matter how many of them… That way we feel we’re not left alone, like we’ve been for many, many times in history. The best example is the story of great Archibald Reiss.
Yes please bring in more foreigners in to Serbia! Since it's the last bastion of somewhat normal people in Europe, now we should bring in more people from the broken western countries to make it look and feel more like the place where they came from!
Great plan! Spread the news about Serbia!
Always funny to see Americans living in Serbia

The taxes aren't that great in Serbia though. As a European, Bulgaria was a better option for me as a consultant. 10% flat rate really makes a difference.
Serbia is a great country, the food is better than in BG and the vibes are super nice.
I own nothing but control everything. If you know you know. That’s why I’ve just been quiet and just enjoying life not trying to make a career out of RUclips or social media in general thus why I post so casually and went traveling with Serbian friends for a little over 3 months in 2024.
Hello Brad, looking good, feel happy for your permanent residence,AND this ME as a Sister or Mother speaking:How can you walk in the middle of the winter WITHOUT your winter Jacket?!!!!!!!!!!!!’No no no..❤🤐🧐
Waiting for the video about Krusevac.
I made this one walking around Krusevac: ruclips.net/video/OzqmMFyM9es/видео.html
@bradbeckett ah I have already seen that. I forgot. But it would be nice to make a video about that video, attractions etc, how fun is there. Some suburbs
@ I haven’t made a video to promote Kruševac because I know several Serbian people here trying to buy apartments but already being out competed by entities with cash. I don’t want to introduce further competition from foreigners.
@@bradbeckett ok, I got you. Thanks!
@@bradbeckett btw, have you been in Kragujevac? I have been there last year, and I really liked it. If you been there, how was it comparing to Krusevac?

Welcome
Србине!
We watch you and other like you because we think Serbia is a bad place to live in. Sometimes we need an outsider to remind us or to point out something that is nice about Serbia. Remember most of the people here were in living memory one or more of these things: War, sanctions, food lines, lack of electricity, lack of food, embargo, bombing revolution etc, etc. Thank you for being a part of our crazy country.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I moved here last summer and also gained weight!
Hey Brad, can you make a video on why you left USA and why you wont go back? Interested in that back story.
That’s a great idea and that’s one of upcoming videos I want to do. Don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss it. 👍
HI Brad, is it not 3 years in Serbia to apply for Citizenship as well as PR? Is there some reason you opted for PR instead of citizenship directly? Or is obtaining PR a pre requisite to applying for citizenship?
Can you apply for citizenship straight away with the PR or you need to live for another more years?
I was in Belgrade during the last week last year. The air pollution then was really bad. Has it gotten any better?
It’s bad in certain areas if the wind blows that direction. Somebody said they are moving back to Australia due to their pollution and I thought they were insane until I went to their apartment to buy their spare MacBook Pro. Then I saw how bad it is in some unlucky areas. When I lived in Vracar area of Belgrade I didn’t notice it at all. It’s a hit or miss. Definitely not a Singapore but also not as bad as burning season in Chiang Mai, Thailand either.
its bad during heating season, people burning wood, summer is nice
Are you still in Serbia krusevac? Would like to meet up because I also moved here. Would be fun to share experience and a Rakija.
can you say why u didnt upload a year? will u upload consistently now?
❤💯👍
Well, we Russians really boosted up everything, but you can find nice flat in some nice, safe and cozy serbian non-capital or Uni center city for 200-250$...
Electricity is 20$, water, 5$, optic internet 20$...central heating is expensive, but just find a flat with AC heating...
1:15 how do you plan to obtain citezenship without dropping your current one?
Easy 😂Dual citizenship is allowed
You’ll see 👍
Advice to someone that just got dual citizenship and wants to leave the rat race of US? How can you find a remote job to support yourself until retirement kicks in? Best of luck.
Suggestions on how to stay in a serbian village with locals to experience rual life?
Yes. The Pple are lovely. Had a nice time really at Belgrade. I saw Africans work at KFC and I was surprised to see blacks work in Such settings. Coz I know most locals would be given that job in other countries. Rent is on the high side in Belgrade.
Gee, has it been that long already?! Congrats on your PR!
Thanks! 🙏 Time flies when you’re living the good life.
Come and visit Zemun, you will love it❤
The most important thing for me in this video is that you look as if you settled your life a bit. Previously you looked more nervous. 😄 Even if your life takes you elsewhere I hope you had and still having a nice time here.
I agree, I wanted to stay long term really bad and before only had one-year residency at a time. At any time, Serbia could have not renewed my residency but that won't be a problem from now on. Thank you for supporting me!
Lot of Italian shops in Belgrade.
You need a warm jacket ❤
You have to go to visit Zemun, the best people, foor, music, vine,
I used to go bowling with friends in Zemun. 🎳
Was this filmed in a studio? The audio is perfect.
I used DJI MIC 2 and the voice isolation filter in Davinci Resolve Studio version. Thank you 🙏
What took you so long..?
I was thinking of moving there after living there for 1.5 years in the 1970s. The rents are definitely a deterrent.
Check out apartments and homes around Subotica and Nis on 4zida.rs use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to right click and translate to English.
@bradbeckett Thank you for the information. I am fluent in Serbo-Croation. My family, on my mother's side, are Serbian. Most are no longer living, so this final homecoming would be my Swan Song. While I had offers to stay with friends, it would not work out long term. Thank you for doing the leg work. It is very helpful.
Bring all your documents and you should apply for Serbian or Croatian citizenship by descent if you don’t already have it.
@@bradbeckett I may have access through family and marriage.
