I always thought that I had to learn to love the ball head, but thought I was missing something. Out of frustration, I tried a geared head, and the difference was stunning, in terms of accuracy, precision, stability, fine-tuning, and ease of use. Years later, I wouldn't even think of going back.
@paulcampbell7518 I must admit I was in the same mindset until trying this 👍🏻 they really are a game changer. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment 😊🙏
My K&F geared head is out for delivery today. Going to be fun. Thanks for reminding me about Howdy Doody! Watched him and Buffalo Bob as a kid. I had the marionette also.....
Really interesting review of the Kentfaith geared head tripod. It was great to see the comparisons made between the two. The level of precision and control it allows when setting up shots looks incredibly useful, especially for landscape and nature photography. Thanks for putting it through its paces in the gorgeous woodland location too - really showed off what it can do.
It’s a great piece of equipment Darren. The only downside that prolonged me from getting it was the added size & Weight, but I’m so glad I took the plunge as it’s so precise 👌👍
I have always avoided a gear head because of price, but K&F generally do great products at great prices, I might look into getting one, great images as always.
That's a great, detailed review. I've been a geared-head user for about 3 years and as so may have said..."I wouldn't go back". Yeah, its heavier but it's nor really that noticeable in the grand scheme of things. Also, I need to get myself to Ogwen Water. Just up the road and not been for years and even then I never ventured off the main path round the reservoir. Looks well worth an explore. 👍
Hi Gary, yeah must admit it's a game changer I think 👍🏻 You've never gone off the path at Ogden 😳 it's well worth it, there's also a few waterfalls there too 😉👍🏻
@@GingerCaptures I don't even think I've ever visited it with photography in mind! Blasted down from Top Witherns loads of times on the mountain bike in my youth but that was a long time ago! I've just had a look; 5 miles from me as the crow flies. I better pull my finger out and get up there soon 🙂
That looks a fantastic woodland mate, I've a few days off this week, is that up OW way, might have a wonder up that way. Good review on the geared head like you say would ve great for panoramic shots.
Firstly, nice images. While I see the benefits of a gear head , especially for woodland and waterfalls (which I very rarely do), I would be interested to see when you are using it in a more open environment and see how it compares to the ball head. Also, there is the size, weight, and cost to take into account.
Thank you, I must admit it's a game changer in the woodland, and it will be coming with me to the Lakes in due course to see how it fares 👍It's also had a bit of a drowning today a the waterfall I've just got back from see we will soon see how robust it is 👍
I really enjoyed your review. I'll definitely check it out in the future. Personally, I have the Sunray Gear Head, and it has served me well. However, it only has two knobs and rotates at the top and bottom. Your images in the Goblin's Layer composition were fantastic, Darren, and that last shot was sublime. Well done, mate.
That's a very interesting little scene there with the fallen tree, really nice couple of images there, looked great with the misty conditions. I have had a few K&F products for review myself and find the quality surprisingly good so i am sure the geared head is no different. I have to admit like you i loved a ball head but having tried the geared head the pros far out weigh the cons.
Cheers Lee, yeah it's taking a bit of getting use too, but must admit there's no lens creep and loving the hands free part especially for vlogging it too 👍🏻
Hi, yes it certainly would, with a smaller neck too it will go vertical 👍🏻 with my tripod being a wide neck, it catches when it gets to around 60deg 👍🏻
I have the Sunwayfoto geared head like Paul B, but as he said, it's prone to wobble after a while which is OK as long as you're not in a strong wind, I've had images come out soft and wondered why, but it's obviously the geared head. I bought one of these to replace it, but took an instant dislike to it without using it, but I am seriously thinking of getting one again and giving it a go, because you can't beat a geared head for ease of use, enjoyed the video and review mate.
A three way would be just as good with an arca panoramic head attached, these are available on the bay £20 +, these improve any tripod head. K&F Concept Geared Head GD3W would be good for Architecture, no improvement for panoramic use. It is slow to use.
Yes it would 👍🏻 as I mentioned it was my first time using a geared head as always used a ball head so was a bit of an eye opener for woodland photography 👍🏻
I wonder if I should do a review of mine? I have put mine back on and I am trying again although I paid for mine lol. It is OK, but it is heavy, says a guy who carries the heaviest tripod on the market. I find the knobs to be heavy to turn, might be because it is new but they are not light to turn. I agree, the build looks impressive, the packaging is excellent and they are a must for landscape photography. I am so pissed at Sunwayphoto, that is brilliant, or was, but it just moves all the time due to poor build quality. Uhmm, maybe I am too honest? Great images mate but I didn't see any goblins which was disappointing.

Another benefit of a geared head is no lens droop with a big heavy lens. I’ve used a Sigma 150-600 on mine and it didn’t move a milimeter, rock solid.

Ha-Ha Yeehaa ! lol, Nice one about the geared head, hope you enjoy using it as much as I do.
Nice one mate. We knew you'd love it once you'd tried it. Don't think you'll be using the ball head too much any longer. 😂
Well well well isn't this a turn out for the books ha ha. They are brilliant bits of kit mate, but what an amazing woodland that's looks 👌

Must admit its taken a bit of getting use too but as you said the precision is fantastic 😉👍🏻

Thank you, must admit I've always been a ball head person but this blew me away to be honest 👍🏻
Well done mate, great review, knew you'd change your mind when you had chance to properly give one a go 😂
Especially for woodland I can see how much its beneficial Mr 🥰📷👍🏻

Thank you very much 🥰🙏 the last image gets even better in the next video, as I revisit the woodland but we start off at the waters edge 😉👍🏻

Great location and lovely images of that tree. Pity you couldn't get a Goblin to pose too. 🙂
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Cheers Mr 👍🏻 maybe next time 👍🏻
Curious, if this tripod had would work with a small telescope. Just wondering if it allows you to point straight up....Thank you

Thank you for your insight 🙏 yeah Paul swears by his apart from it going a bit loose, he is also giving this one another go 😉👍🏻

Benro do a riser for flat top tripods to avoid fouling with geared heads. About £25 and problem solved!
Hi, yeah since doing the review I have got one to cure the problem 👍 and works a treat, thank you.

The Goblins only come out at night 🤣👍🏻
