Yeah, it's one of the downsides of polygamy. It's a feminist's paradise lol.
You wouldn't think it, but a relationship where the women outnumber the men tend to get what they want. It's actually why some women are attracted to polygamist relationships, the sisterhood while challenging is very comforting. It's nice to have another person in the house helping raise the kids and such, and there's less pressure to have sex when you're not in the mood. Overall, it's a lot less pressuring in comparison.
Not saying polygamy is better than monogomy or vice versa. More so that for some people the polygamy lifestyle really works for them. I know my wife and I enjoy it a lot. My wife has autism so it's difficult for her to be romantic or intimate and it makes her very frustrated because she does like romance and such just very very rarely. This is what caused us to consider polygamy. My wife wants someone she can have a sisterly bond with like she did with her siblings and someone to share the home with; while I want more romance and someone to be more intimate with.
This makes us both very happy. The fact it is helpful financially is the cherry on top. It's hard to explain but having another woman in the house and the life changes we made accommodate an extra wife so far really made things easier. I recommend any woman considering it to date a poly couple at least once. You don't have anything to lose, and in the end you get a good story, and if it goes well then you get to date a very macho guy who is financially and lovingly capable of taking care of more than one women.

Only time I've heard of it this way is with a group I think in the Himalayan mountains. One woman marries a group of brothers to help save land being split through the generations with inheritance. The minute he saw a control issue... So many of these relationships are based on the husband determining everything. That's the only issue I have with plural marriage.. Is it really what the women want or were they raised to believe that is the only way.
Raised to believe it's the only way. I was raised Mormon and even though they don't actively practice day to day polygamy since the law changed... They still believe, teach, and preach that it is God's way and that God is also a polygamous man. They believe they'll be required to live this way in heaven. It screws with your head when you grow up hearing it over and over. It would've been worse if I had to watch the lifestyle modeled daily around me.
*When I left mormonism, I decided to try on a polyamorous lifestyle because I wanted to date many men at one time and see if it was possible to:
1. Be 100% honest with all involved (especially myself)
2. Love multiple people at once.
3. To care for the needs of all involved in win/win/win/win/win agreements.
Answers:
1. I was totally honest but it was hardest to be honest with myself because it became easy to run from person to person to get my "good times" and leave when someone started to get whiny or clingy or just unhappy because I had other options.
2. Yes, I was able to love multiple people at once.
3. Absolutely not. Turns out when the tables are reversed, men get JUST AS "clingy/needy/desperate" as some men claim women are. It's not a gender trait. It's how humans act when they aren't getting their needs met in a relationship and when it feels uncommitted/unstable/risky. I spent more time calming men down from their fears than really digging deeper with them.
Conclusion: Even though I'm a super caring, empathetic female, I couldn't pull off multiple partners at once in any way shape or form that came ANYWHERE even close to the quality or depth of a healthy monogamous marriage. And I can't imagine men with limited communication skills+lust involved+lower empathy than most women could EVER successfully please all parties in full honesty. No way. I quit my experiment so I could bring all of me to one person.
They were essentially groomed by their own parents if they say they grew up in a polygamy home and were raised Mormon especially. The person above my comment..... you were groomed and abused and I'm so sorry.

If it works, it would only be in cases where there's lack of sexual interest by the majority gender or people who are all just emotionally detached who essentially don't care much about how it all turns out. The nature of "relating" is to care and invest ourselves with others though, so if people succeed in detaching, they are simultaneously failing to relate deeply so the relationship won't feel fulfilling. Big thumbs down from me about polygamy relationships if kids are involved. especially. It MIGHT work if all involved were trapped on an island somewhere and everyone helps raise the kids but in modern life the kids get neglected by this lifestyle by the parent that is spread too thin.
