If I had to describe undiluted genius, this would cover all the bases, disturbing David Lynch visuals, story telling from the deepest darkest recesses of the mind, musically indescribable, technique off the charts, in all this needs to be seen by everyone who claims to be artistic or a music lover...in my opinion, the most significant audio visual offering by any band at any time, this is more than music, it qualifies as an experience...

Cardiacs is a unique, original mixture of Zappa, DiMeola, SOV madness of the 80s, Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, dadaism and surrealism. I have not been disappointed by anything I've listened to by Cardiacs nor their videos. Everything has been an enjoyable mix of humor and technical proficiency.
This is what you get when you play King Crimson, Devo and Dead Kennedys at the same time. Loud. Why did I just discovered then to many years after the fact? I don't know. ☹️
This one of the most transformative pieces of art I've ever witnessed! No winder I had never heard of them. This is like the basterd offspring of early Peter Gabriel and Klaus Nomi had a baby with the love child of The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo and Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared!
@@samiamiamsamsamiam There were actually two. The first one is called "The Truth about De-evolution". You can find it on RUclips. I'd give you the link but I'm on mobile right now. It's very short and is mostly just the music videos for a couple of songs. It has the same weird vibe as Seaside Treats. The second one is called, "The Men who make the Music." In my opinion it's quite a bit better than "The Truth about De-evolution" in almost every way. It mixes music videos, the same kind of strange skits found in Seaside Treats and live footage together. Unfortunately any uploads of it to RUclips have been copyright claimed so you can't watch it here. However, you can buy the DVD for a decent price or watch it on Amazon Prime Video if you have it.

I'm reaching here, but from the American side of the Atlantic it seems like Cardiacs _might_ have been characterizing stereotypical 1980s British life as more of an interminably-slow death, among other things.

Every few months or so I rewatch this masterpiece
"Everybody laughed, and we're all so happy.
"Jim came running down the hill."
This is bizarre, random, disturbing, upsetting, catchy, fun and totally brilliant all at the same time. So sad I never got to see them live.
See you around, Tim.
14:30 such a Zappa solo... picking up the mantle, love it
Had a very Inca Roads vibe
I picked that up too. Definitely Zappa-esque!

the other level regarding music and visuals would obviously be the resident...

Aye
And they were just as technically precise when i saw them live which at the time completely blew my mind.
That's right Bill, you tell your special joke. You have the power here....
If there is anything on this planet that we should preserve, it should be this.Send the out into space for aliens to know what earth is like.
Mike Patton must've absorbed this into his DNA circa '87
The effort to get it up in this quality is truly worthy of laudation.
God bless your cotton socks, good sir. Seaside Treats is a national treasure of planet Earth.

So awesome. Funny how the best things on the internet are pre-digital.
The Cardiacs sound like a poltergeist haunting Frank Zappa.
The artistic freedom of the past. Not so many create things of disturbing beauty these days. Jim came running down the hill...
Thanks for the upload. Miss you already Tim
Cardiacs are a unique Gem!
I wonder was Tim Smith influenced by early Devo at all? Devo made an off the wall short musical film very similar to this, but in the late 70s.
I would say yes........being 57, I'm wondering how I'm just finding out about this musical genius.....and I love Devo!!!
Whats devo’s film called?
