    Hi Debbie, You make your pie crust just like the recipe handed down from my great grandma. Years ago not long before my mom passed, she had me make pie crust over and over again to make sure I had "the feel" for it. We had a lot of pie during that time, all different types. My grandma and mom were blue ribbon pie winners many times. They were both diabetics, as I am also, and you couldn't tell they were sugar free pies. I am grateful for the many memories of baking with all three, yes even my great-grandma. I also use my food processor, it makes it easier. Thank you with all my heart for your videos, I learn so much from you. You are so calming, and sweet.

    Would love that pie made with apricots. We had apricot trees at the cabin, mother made pies, also she would send us to gather sacks full of choke cherries for jelly. Good old memories.

    OH> MY> GOSH! THAT is love on a plate. Great video, I appreciate your time in making it. I loved to watch your hands putting this masterpiece together. Also love the sound of your voice. I'm not a pie maker, but you've given me something to shoot for, so I'm going to try. If my pie turns out even half as good as yours I'll be happy. THANK YOU.

    This looks so good. Love your demonstration of how you make the crust. I was wondering if you have/use fresh peaches how you prepare the filling would differ, if indeed it would differ at all?

      I just peel, slice and cook. Then no different.

    • @DebbiesBackPorch
      @DebbiesBackPorch  6 лет назад

      Oh, and a little citric acid or lemon juice in the bowl as you peel helps the peaches keep their pretty color.

    Do you use splenda when making jams and jellies? I am interested in sugar vs splenda ratios as I am diabetic and want to try splenda but don't want to mess up. Where do you purchase splenda by the bucket? I remember seeing it one of your videos but for the life of me I can't seem to locate it again!

      I buy big bags of Apriva which is a generic sucralose. It your want to make sugar free jams and jellies, use Pomona Pectin. It has the directions in the box. You can get it from Amazon. I have never had it fail.

    May I ask, why put the Lard in water?

    • @DebbiesBackPorch
      @DebbiesBackPorch  5 лет назад

      That is the easy way to measure it. Fill a measuring cup to 1 cup with water. Add lard until the water line comes to 1 1/2 cup, you have a half cup of lard.
