  • Today we share the experience we had on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail when we visited Old Forester in Louisville. It was a very cool experience and they have done so much to share their process and make it memorable.

    I've completed the bourbon trail tour several times. Although this tour looks like one of the best on Whisky Row in Louisville, it seems very modern compared to the original distilleries along the trail. I especially liked the Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, Makers Mark and Jim Beam tours.

    We were there during their break so we couldn’t go in. Nice to see what we missed. We did try 1910 and 1920 at a bar then bought 1910. Which was great.

    This is great! They were closed when we were up there so we missed out. While you’re up there, check out Wilderness Trail Distillery. That was one of my favorite tours. (Plus Cooper the cat is adorable and has the tour path memorized😂)

    Old Forester is a solid tour. I really enjoyed it. Others I enjoyed were Angel's Envy, Bardstown, Heaven Hill, Woodford, and Buffalo Trace (I realize this is not technically part of the Bourbon Trail). Bardstown was probably my favorite stop. The overall experience is very awesome. They have a beautiful facility, great whiskey, a really good restaurant. We did the rickhouse thieving there and I would highly recommend that.

    Brown Foreman is as good, consistent, and as high value as you can get in my opinion. Everything I have had from them is great. Cooper’s craft 100, OF 86, OF 100, 1910 and 1920. All are great value and 1920 is my favorite Bourbon that I own, other than a C921 batch of ECPB. And even that is pretty close.

      Coopers Craft 100 really is a hidden gem. Can't get enough of it. Reminds me of a lower proof 1920

    When you first posted your sort of "preview" video of your tour, I couldn't wait to see the individual distillery videos. Now I don't want to watch them because I want to go back to Kentucky and go on the tours myself! Maybe I'll run into Jaime in her new job in the OF gift shop lol.

    Big question I have on distillery tours: What are you guys doing (brands) combat the shortage of white oak trees for barrel making?

    • @WhiskeyRow
      @WhiskeyRow  2 года назад

      I can't speak for Brown Foreman, but part of the tour I cut during editing was the part where she talked about all they are doing around conservation, tree planting, etc when it comes to the barrel wood
