I am very much enjoying it. It allows for flexibility of gaming consumption in my house which is perfect for me. My wife can watch her shows and I can play games at the same time.
What I do is connect a bluetooth headset to the ps5. Once on the portal I change the audio output to headset. Just like that you’ll be able to use a different headset on the portal.
So you literally have to pair your bluetooth headphones to the console that you want to be remote from.... er... not sure this is a solution, rather a limitation.
I was the ultimate Portal hater until I finally tried my friend's. I ended up buying one and I've been very happy with it. I completed the Tomb Raider, Rise and Shadow trilogy of games all on the portal and it was an excellent experience. I love being able to play the portal from the couch while I've got MLB or NBA on the TV. It has worked well also on the go at my parent's house over their WiFi.
What did you hate on it without trying one in the first place? I see a lot of negative comments all over the internet. And the effect is that undecided people read these hate comments and don't buy, not knowing what they are missing out. My advice for the future: before being "ultimate hater" about something, think about the influence you may have and inform yourself
@bigpapa870 the speakers are very loud, I can tell you that. Even on the lowest volume, they are quite loud. The quality is decent i my opinion, but this is subjective, so you should test the device and hear for yourself.
I’ve had it since launch and absolutely love it. As someone who has two PS5s hooked up at home, I mostly use it while away from home and it’s awesome in that regard.

Mine works flawlessly, even on games that require twitch responses. I have my PS5 directly wired to the router. Gig speed download, and I paid to increase my upload speed to 30 m/bs as well. I can play in any room of my two story house with zero issues.
I think for a husband and father this is the perfect product. Honestly I hate when I have to turn off the PS just to let my kid or wife watch tv when I'm in the middle of a game....
I was surprised how light and comfortable it is to hold. I have average mid tier Internet speed and it worked well enough. It's good for simple games that don't require fast reaction time or having to read notes and text on a small screen.
Yep exactly. I picked up one recently almost half price 2nd hand. I use it at work during breaks and it works almost flawlessly. Despite what was said in this video I love playing Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2 on this.

Most people don't realize that you can't connect to a 2.4ghz wifi channel. The connection needs to be through 5ghz. It doesn't matter how fast your connection is, you will lag if you connect to 2.4ghz.
I have the Sony pulse explore buds … paid £200 for them and although the sound isn’t on par with my AirPods Pro 2, still has strong sound clear audio quality and you can connect them to your phone via Bluetooth and listen to music and game audio simultaneously 👌
I personally couldn't wait to get rid of this thing. I have my ps5 connected to 1gb ethernet and I've got great WiFi but, I still couldn't get smooth gameplay. I also didn't think the screen was great. Too much motion blur.
you ain't wrong about the screen. i played mine last night when i bought it and so far no button latency but the frame does drop which is annoying given the fact i also have 1gb internet wired to my ps5. Maybe one more update and it should be better/tolerable to others

Remote Play on my phone or tablet has awful lag (video only, audio keeps playing). Mirror Play, a third-party app, works beautifully so I think my solution is pairing a DualShock 4 to my tablet and using that, despite the juggling of two devices. Wish I could trust Sony’s tech to match a third-party developer but I have no reason to.

Ive put getting one off, i won't take it out, but I do think i would just sit on the sofa/bed using it rather than hoarding the main TV. Looked at the steam deck, but it looks too faffy, and im getting older, im good with tech, just not with software downloads and patches for this and another for that. With this, i can just pick it up and play.

Yes, I also tried my Portal oversea and was surprised that it works pretty well. (PS5 connected with LAN and Portal is on WIFI) FYI country that I tried is Thailand and South Korea .

Sometimes its great to be wrong, and I was because I thought this was a bad move by Sony but I'm glad its paying off for them. I don't have a use for it for the reasons you state but clearly there's plenty of demand for it. I still think that if they'd made a full on "Switchstation" where you could install and play truly remotely then the appeal would have been even greater.
I was desperate to have one and finally got one the other month, but unfortunately it just didn’t run very well on my wi fi set up, just constant stutters and judders made pretty much everything unplayable unless I was in my study next to my router. As soon as I left that room it was unplayable, even just down the hall and in my living room. I was so desperate for this device, it would allow me to play my PS5 so much more having a family, but it just would not function properly and I tried absolutely everything and all the tips but they made no difference, I even paid £180 to get a guy to install a Ethernet port in my living room so I could hardwired my PS5!!! It’s really sad as my other mate who also has the same sky router as me said he’s works flawlessly in all 3 stories of his house and he hasn’t even hardwired his PS5!!
Who is your internet provider, and do you have the highest speed? I have Xfinity and I never have connection issues. Oh yeah, one more thing, do you live around a lot of trees? When I lived with my mom she had and still hs bad connection due to her area and being around trees.
I bought mine 1 day after launch and I had issues w with resident evil village, I couldn't fire my weapon. Looked on the net and people had similar problems. The solution was to turn off adaptive triggers which put me off taking this device too seriously tbh
Even tho I have two TVs, I find it much easier to spend time watching things my girls want to watch together while playing with the portal to get my gaming in. The device is working out lovely
I wish it had more features, Id like it as a back up controller for the Ps5 in a pinch or for 2 player. Also theres should be some games that take advantage of the device in the way that Wii U worked, just for some Novelty experiences. An Astro game would be cool for that
In my work i have REMOTE PLAY in the computer and i never had any issues playing in the PC, the only thing is bothering me that the PC monitor is not 4K, So i only focus in trophy grinds and collecting only.
I said the same thing i said back then... Its a terrible value buy & extremely niche. The dualedge has more long term value & is all around a better product imo. Non-replacable joysticks on this device was either: - an embarrassing oversight given the technology already exists in their dualedge controllers - a purposeful omission so they can sell a "pro version" with this feature for $100 more next year. Its an extremely limited device, with a mediocre screen & guaranteed stick drift by around the 12 month mark or sooner & only comes with a 1 year warranty Meanwhile the dualedge has tonnes of actually useful functionality, has replacable sticks & can be sent back every 3 months for a replacement under warranty to prevent having to even buy new sticks (source... Ive been doing it for a year already)
