The usb is most probably only used for charging and its data pins are not connected to the processor so no update or hacking unless you open it and have the tools to dump the ram and maybe flashchip. To resume, it looks like it won't be an easy hack for most and considering it is obscure maybe no one will even try.
You took the words right out of my mouth. It would be a great unit for Shmups though. You could open it up and hack it from the inside but that would take far more knowledge then I’d be able to help out with.
They have 3 Contras at my neighborhood Target, been there all month. Made it to the register twice already with it but that $50 price point made me leave it behind. After seeing your unboxing, 3rd times gonna be the sale for me. That sucker looks good👍
Arcade Contra, oh the nostalgia🎃 WayForward iz a great Dev team🎨 Former CAVE artists need to get together. I'm still having fun with AKA To Blue Freedom Finger looks cool. For Aesop Rock to do the whole soundtrack i wuz Shmuped away🤯! Thankz for the nature parts🍃🍁🍂 Have a great weekend Mang
Hadn't heard about that Contra pocket player before. I have one or two of their other products and I've never really been super impressed with the quality of it in terms of actually being able to play the games, but that Contra one has a lot of visual appeal. It looks like the D-Pad on it probably isn't doing you any favors though. I grew up on the Arcade version of Contra and it definitely controls very well in my opinion. I actually prefer it to the NES version. Still, nice looking little device, I might have to get one some time if the price is right.
I kept checking my local target when I could and the my arcade contra player was finally there. They had one on the shelf and it was priced at $50. Even though it does come with a link cable for 2 players or what they call "CO-VS Tech" $50 is too much for this. But I really wanted it so I bought it. I've seen more of these pop up on eBay but it looks like my arcade just threw these out there without warning. Overall despite the D-pad I do like it and think it's worth getting at $20-$30.
I got that email yesterday too man...we all need to keep after these companies that release physical games to make a Rolling Gunner physical. Strictly Limited maybe?
Someone just told me their in the works of releasing the game with another company, hopefully it happens, I had a feeling this would happen a few months ago when they refunded me most of my money.
rolling gunner will have more chance on strictly limited, limited run or super rare games for sure or maybe with play-asia too, the business plan of physicallitygames was not good and many people didn't know this site it was the major problem in my opinion i got a refund also.
I've been waiting for the my arcade contra pocket player to get released. It's weird because it seems you just randomly found it at target and I can't find it anywhere online not even on the my arcade official website. $40 is kind steep but if I see it online or in store I'll get it.
I did find it randomly, Its weird how its not online anywhere, its not even on target's website (i didn't see it anyway) kind of expensive for what it is but its still pretty cool, the nes roms would have been better but I like the vertical screen
It DOES have a rechargeable battery included. But weirdly, it doesn’t come with a charging cord, so unless you actually read the instructions you might never notice the ion battery is an option.
i saw that orginial contra pocket thing too. but......... i found the orginial 1987 arcade and 88 super contra and now its in my room! hahahahahaa but i dont have the super contra game broad yet im looking

That is a shame since it has a vertical screen but what do you expect from a device that takes 4 AA batteries 🤣
Damn. That’s not the answer I wanted to hear.
@@TheDannylarson it does also have an internal rechargeable battery. No clue why they included both styles... appeal to some weird 90s kid nostalgia?
Actually just spotted this in my target and was hesitant on getting it and now I'm sold 😊

I remember seeing when Freedom Finger was announced. Looked unique. Nice pickups!
I like the mechanics on freedom finger, a soundtrack would have been nice with this one, not sure if they did an ost with this release of not?

I like the console look of it. The colors are killer!

Are you still looking? I have one that I could sell you at cost. It’s good, but I’m not 1000x in love with it. So if you’ve been hunting....
Weird in this day and age that you need to use disposable batteries vs. built-in rechargeable li-ion batteries. Overall a good review pardner.

Got one yesterday at target works pretty good
Nice pick ups.
did the Contra have any Save or Continue features or do you start from the beginning every time?
Is the 50$ Mario game rare? I was at target and got to last one was I lucky?
I still haven't seen them in stores but I do think its interesting, if you can load roms that would really push me to find one
@@TheDannylarson if you can hack it you can put whatever you want on it I saw someone put Mario bros 3 Pokémon super contra and Zelda
