I think my favorite thing about this song is that best part of the song is only heard if the battle isn't the kind you immediately sweep up. You'll only hear the fantastically climactic music in harder fights, which i thing is genius!
This would've been SO EASY to screw up, but the fact that the theme takes itself so seriously only makes the resulting fights more ridiculous. It's like a team of mariachis singing their hearts out about that time Don Quixote got stuck on a windmill and completely missing the irony. In other words, this is ACE.
FretsawOrion It reminds me of how nobody told the singer of Blazing Saddles’ theme, Frankie Laine, that the song was for a Mel Brooks comedy. The fact that the theme is earnest helps sell the idea it’s a loving parody at the end of the day.

Or spamming items on the enemies to whittle their health down as far as possible. Pouring kerosene on the enemies and lighting them on fire with matches, throwing venom glands at them to poison them, dynamite spamming all while healing yourself with Trauma Kits.
I played West of Loathing expecting a funny experience. This theme sold it for me. I love the dramatic build-up and the epic overall feel. It's PERFECT.
I didn't have to buy the soundtrack, because I can just listen to it here and put it on repeat, unlike on Steam. I bought it anyway. For obvious reasons.
This music is on par with The Super Follin Bros in how it seems like it shouldn't be epic, but it is. One of the most epic OST's that has no reason being as epic as it is, like Puzznic, Pictionary or Solstice. You, sir, have earned a place with VGM gods.

it is??? i guess thats why im wrecking everything in my path with my high moxie stat... honestly i picked snake oiler because why the heck not i get free health pots... then it turns out it gives me instant access to summons and i love summons in every game so i coincidentally picked the class id love the most EDIT: so i just finished the game and found everything and did all the quests... i can see what you mean now the snake oiler has things like bad medicine and good medicine which lowers moxie and heals you respectively and strong medicine which buffs you and fan hammer which hits 3 times (4 if fully upgraded) with my already nonsensically high gun damage which i got just from equipment bonuses plus strong medicine and bad medicine hype the damage to an insane degree or if you have that one passive that triples all poison procs you can spam venom vials to make sure anything is finished off in one hit... its a shame though that by late game even with full upgrades my favorite part of the snake oiler that being the snakes becomes a glorified one hit meat shield that cant even hit their target properly (and yet somehow still procs poison... what???)
Great song for a great game, been adoring West and looking forward to Shadows Over after another playthrough or 2 of West! Been on a DbD kick recently and think this'd be a great song to overlay on Deathslinger 🤠
I grew up watching old westerns with my dad and I have to say the fact that every piece of music in this game could perfectly fit into an incredibly dramatic scene in an actual classic film is a huge part of what makes this game utterly perfect
I was seriously expecting to pay at least $20 for it, and I was going to pay that happily. When it came out at a price point of $11 (with a 10% discount on top of that for the week of release), I snapped it up immediately. I'm even considering buying it again from Gog just to have a completely stand-alone version in addition to the Steam client version.
So; I live in Las Vegas, but I have family in Texas. Buddy you BEST believe when I run that I-40 drive through the desert terrain at [REASONABLE SPEEDS] this song is coming on at least twice!
Every other game: We need to have complex puzzles, high fidelity, ultra-detailed guns and complex interwoven plots, as well as massive multiplayer with 20 different classes all with unique weapons and mechanics and have entire marketing schemes built upon being edgy and totally radical! West of Loathing: *witty writing, kickass soundtrack and simple but clever gameplay* Every other game: NANNIIII!?

A tremendous brawl ensued, but slowly but surely, they fought their way to the next level. Cutting through a barricade of skulls, the trio came face to face with two massive skeletal giants. They bellowed in anger, but Edwin was faster and threw a wildhaymaker that stunned one of them, give Alice time to rush in and saw through its leg with her bonesaw, toppling it to the ground. The other one Punched Edwin then and sent him flying, but Doc Alice patched him up rapidly as Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo bill took aim and blasted its head, widening its empty eye-socket considerably. Edwin seized the moment and threw a stick of dynamite into it. For a second, everything fell silent, and before a tremendous bang blew upon the undead giant's skull, ending the abomination down.
We can all agree we will never EVER forget this game's impact on us and its incredible soundtrack because Jeez it is good. forget any western you ever saw or heard of this IS IT. THIS IS THE GAME.

Every other game: We need to have complex puzzles, high fidelity, ultra-detailed guns and complex interwoven plots, as well as massive multiplayer with 20 different classes all with unique weapons and mechanics and have entire marketing schemes built upon being edgy and totally radical!

"Let's do some harm!" said Doc Alice, cocking her shotgun as Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo Bill snorted. Edwin whispered the stolen password, and the trio stormed the tower. A squad of skeletons turned to meet them. The trio opened fire, picking off one of them before the skeletons charged into melee range. A tremendous brawl ensued, but slowly but surely, they fought their way to the next level.
Cutting through a barricade of skulls, the trio came face to face with two massive skeletal giants. They bellowed in anger, but Edwin was faster and threw a wildhaymaker that stunned one of them, give Alice time to rush in and saw through its leg with her bonesaw, toppling it to the ground. The other one Punched Edwin then and sent him flying, but Doc Alice patched him up rapidly as Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo bill took aim and blasted its head, widening its empty eye-socket considerably. Edwin seized the moment and threw a stick of dynamite into it. For a second, everything fell silent, and before a tremendous bang blew upon the undead giant's skull, ending the abomination down.
