great video! bobbi humphrey deserves a lot more attention than she gets. you probably did spend a bit more than the market would suggest on that OG press of "blacks and blues" (i see OGs mostly around $40 in my area), but now you have a clean press of a stone cold classic. you've probably put two and two together by this point, but the similarities between her music and donald byrd's are no accident - both were produced by the mizell brothers, who were the architects of that funky, mid-70s blue note sound. i recommend checking out johnny hammond's "gears" if you enjoy that sound. i'm really liking these vinyl videos - please keep making them!
Looking at Discogs, that album goes all over the place on price. Even though I live in the Seattle area, I’m very familiar with a lot of the Detroit area record stores. I’m taking a guess it’s the Detroit Record Club. Don’t know much about that place. But, the upscale description, that came to mind. When it comes to jazz, I have no idea what is in demand and what is bargain bin. Sounds like that one is the former. Since jazz isn’t my forte, your description of her sounds intriguing and will check her out. Great video Clarence!
Great video! I love Bobbi. I have managed to get a few of her albums, but in my country you can expect to pay closer to $75 for blacks and blues so I would be vey happy with 50. One day i may find a deal... anyway, enjoy!
My brother you weren't price gouged i know i have that album if anything will cost more in the long run everyone who has a copy usually keeps their copy which makes it hard to get so when it becomes hard to get the price raises
Harlem River Drive is one of my favorite songs, has that NYC feeling I love since growing up between Harlem and the Bronx.
I love that song!!! It’s so smooth
Love Bobbi Humphrey!!!!!

Wow!!! I’m glad to own a OG copy!!!
She used a lot of the Mizell Bros. Talents.
Just learned they worked on quite a few Blue Note albums. Awesome production value
