Tux-Away was the name of the Rumble seat rain cover. I have only seen original ads for them so thank you for showing me a real one in place. Keep up the great work. Also Ford had the TRI-Moto passenger planes in the 1930s and it is reported a few still fly today in Africa. Made of corrugated steel with wicker seats to save weight. Also the Germans used a twin of that for all of their top brass throughout WW2. Junkers JU-52 also known as Ford Tri Moto.

I remember a hearing a family story that my Grandmother flipped her Model T over on its side somehow and used her lace-up high heel boot to kick a hole in the canvas roof to get out. Not sure why she didn't just climb through the window.

Dad would have loved this portion of the museum. I took him to the Gilmore years ago but they hadn't built the "dealership" buildings yet. He was born in 28, so he would have definitely have related to everything in there.

Edison and Ford were big pals. They would go camping together. Ford made a camp mobile. I imagine Ford gave the car to Edison. Edison was something of a charlatin. Tesla hated him. Tesla and Westinghouse went with AC and destroyed Edison and DC.

@@What.its.like. I don't recall if Edison invented anything. Certainly not the light bulb. He took others ideas and perfected and marketed them in the main. He tried to stop AC by electrocuting elephants in public. He wanted to put a coal fired DC plant on every corner because DC could'nt be transmitted long distances. Tesla on the other hand wanted to transmit AC through the air like radio waves.

Hi Jay!: That collection of A's is FABULOUS! SO MANY RARE Model A's! The oval windowed coupe was a factory body style, but I am not sure about that open truck. My favorite is the A-400 (1931 Convertible Sedan}. Second would be any of the Deluxe Phaetons. You will notice that regular phaetons have 4 doors. but the deluxe was a 2 door phaeton. The blind window sedan was called that because there is not a third window in the back for the passengers to look out of. Ford did make a 4 door sedan with windows there, I think I saw one in the video. The blind window was probably a little more "fancy", just like the RARE town car. If I am not mistaken Thomas Edison's Phaeton was the very first model A. It originally had the sedan body shown in the picture of the first viewing. T.A. liked open cars, though, so Henry put the phaeton body on it. The engine should have the #1 stamped on it, for the very first model A engine (production). Going to have to get me a Model A!!!

Good video, the Gilmore is a special place for all gear heads. But the Model A section is so special, the collection is price less. Last September during the Model A Days weekend, I rode on the School Bus with Paul Shinn driving, he is a Model A wealth of knowledge. Someone had mentioned that this bus was driven from California to the museum. I’ll be back this coming September A days. For my pick of the A’s it’s the 2 door sedan convertible 400A, wished you had looked at this car, it’s a great example of this rare model. I’m partial to this Model, I have one in my garage.
