Bought my first ever cassette at Love Music, and I spent many weekends on the top floor in the early 1980's playing arcade games and the slot car racetrack while my parents shopped for good and interesting deals. Great memories and the people there were wonderful. I was lucky enough to visit in 2017 from Canada, and was saddened to discover the shopping centers ultimate fate. No denying it was dated for the surrounding modern area, but somewhat of an iconic piece of KL history which regrettably should have been preserved.
When it opened in 1973, I was a student at Technical College (now UTM) on Jln Gurney. It was walking distance from the campus. I think the first coffee house in KL (other than in hotels) was at Ampang Park called The Palong Coffee House. It was the place to go if you want to impress your date, as did I and many other students. On Sunday, there was a tea dance at a venue there called The Xcalibur, with live bands, and offering discounted entry fee. Suffice to say, us young lads were up to some pretty silly shenanigans there 😋. Yeah .... only memories remain.
You are right, Mr Idros. The coffee house was known as The Palong..that time I was in Standard Six. I lived in Perak. I was scared using the escalator..ha ha ha. Very very sad..and nostalgic
Terima kasih mengingatkan kembali memori bersama ampang park. Kami duduk masa 80-90an tak jauh dari AP. Kat jalan pasar aje. Kenangan tu ada sikit la. Sbb jiran sebelah pernah bawak kami pergi makan kat satu kedai ni ada ayam masak kuzi dan mee kari. Pastu masa zaman 80-90an situ je yg terdekat nak beli mekdi. Masa raya pun baju banyak gak offer, zaman tu ada hankyu jaya, tapi kami prefer gi kat hankyu jaya jalan TAR. Mmg kenangan kat sini. Design pun mmg 80an. Sayang dirobohkan demi pembangunan
I literally grew up visiting this mall. From the day I was a baby till I started working. I still remember when my office was across the street from Ampang Park, I'd visit it everyday. Once my office moved, I wanted to visit Ampang Park one last time before demolishing. My dad even has memories of Ampang park as he told me that when he was a bachelor he would go there for makan before heading home everyday after work with the bus mini.
Thank You So Much for this Down the Memory Lane Tribute to Ampang Park! Many had grow~up with Ampang Park ... Can't believed 44 years have passed! Thank You So Much & Good Bye Ampang Park! ( 1973~2017 ) ... p.s. Thinking of having an Ampang Park Shoppers' Reunion when the New MRT Station has opened in the future! 🕯🌷🌿🌍💖🇲🇾
I remembered during the late 80’s my dad brought me here to eat at the McDonald’s. They used to have this happy meal with all those iconic mcd’s figurine like Ronald McDonald and so on. Was so happy every time we go for a meal there. I think they also used to have mcd drive thru there. In the late 2000, I was working nearby there until before it’s closure. We went there for lunch, dinner, break fasting, karaoke session, meeting clients, buying gifts, shopping groceries at AFS down there. Now the groceries store has moved to a location just behind my house at Taman Nirwana. A lot of memories but also understand the need to demolish the place. Ah, happy times. Life was so simple back then.
just seen this vc and it brought back fond memories of the old times. When I was working in KL, I used to frequent Ampang Park at least once a week during its heydays. Cozy corner was my favourite dining place if I were to go there. I can still remember the face of Pak Guard Hj Shahiruddin and I hope he's well and good. I missed the good old Ampang Park too...
So many memories from this mall. I live down the road. Slurpees from the 7/11, THAT music store, the BEST curry mee from the food court... the KFC and McDonalds late at night for sneaky supper. My sister even had a shop on the top floor.
My childhood was mostly from this mall. Remember back in the days during the early 80s, my parents would bring me here to go to their highest level where they have bumper cars, lots of cool arcade games and stuff. Cosy restaurant is where we would dine every weekend. Good times
Membesar di sini. Keluarga juga banyak berniaga di sini. Raz saloon and Gab boutique. Setiap tahun beniaga kuih raya. So many memories. Tapi apakan daya 😔
Around late 80s i was a teenager.. after work we will hang around Ampang park.. I still remember buying a tiny Casio pocket tv from one of the shops here..Just curious to know what is Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen which i never heard before.. There was a bookshop where you can get any book.. And my favourite muruku shop.. 😀 Time have changed now.. Very sad to accept that Ampang Park has gone forever.. I will never forget Ampang Park.. 😢😢
memories of dating and meeting someone in that place will never go away ..i miss the simple setup of shopping complex compared to the new ones. The same thing are happening in bukit bintang plaza and other places in the city. Sometimes new are not always good. At this age, I really felt old when places that you considered as your playground vanishes one by one.
Only place to hangout semasa Ponteng Sekolah nak main games early 1990's .. naik bas 270 from ulu kelang melawati to here .. hahahaha .. sejarah beb .. member yang bawak gwa serong skolah time tu .. im sorry .. sekarang im 40 years old .. those days in memory .. happening compleks .. love you Ampang Park
1975..yes. i was with my late parents..the roof top, playing games machine back then. What a fond memorabilia. Sad its gone...i was 10 in 1975. Now a grandaddy at 54. Fond memories 😭
Datok Keramat lalu Damai. Masa kecik² tahun 90 lepas kumpul duit raya makan Mc D ramai² dgn kwn² n beli happy meal. Kakak² aku pun dulu kerja part time di Hankyu Jaya. Masa skolah menengah selalu main video game kat tingkat atas tu... Kedai muzik tu legend, also butik² situ...Guardian ampang park...maybank ampang park, kedai gambar....oh my, so sad la this video. Sekarang ni hanya tinggal nama saja pada stesyen LRT Putra... 😉💗🇲🇾
I'm malaysian leave in helsinki..here, still have a shopping mall "stockman" which started operating since 1930 and it's one of the biggest shopping mall now im northern Europe.
Malaysia dont appreciate old historic bldg what interest them is money just look at pudu jail.its an iconic place yet they demolish and just leave the door entrance
Hehe.. Layan masa tu.
Zaman 80an, ada indoor arcade and then turned discotheque...metrojaya, bookstore, yes it was great place, after pertama complex, Campbell complex, keramat and batu road store ..i miss those days..my first toy was kawada ( later known as lego) bought at metrojaya ampang park... The best christmas tree deco at lobby..
🙏 This was so touching & nostalgic for so many of that generations! Ampang Park Shopping Centre ( 1973-2018 ) will always be in the hearts ❤ of many in the Management , Shop Owners & Royal Customers of that era! May We All meet again in a Better World & Realm ... 😊🙏 Thank You So Much BFM 89.9 channel for this Last Tribute to our beloved Old Ampang Park Shopping Centre! 🕯🌷🌿🌎💜🕊🇲🇾
This was the place where I hang out in my school days. My school bus picked me up and dropped me off in front of Yow Chuan Plaza everyday so being in Ampang Park was my daily routine. Quite an ideal place for young teenagers as they have video arcade, pinball machines, billiards and even a small movie theater. Such memorable place
When I was 15yo, I used to run up to rooftop and play pinball plus other 'mechanical' arcade games. Bought few vinyls from Tina's shop including Wire/Pink Flag. Will miss Ampang Park.
I used to frequent one shop that belonged to one Chinese auntie on the first floor selling CDs and cassettes. Such a lovely auntie to have a conversation with. Once she told me that she never got married and love being single. She showed me her photo when she was in her younger days. What a beautiful lady. I forgot her name though.
First time came to Malaysia to study back in 1989. Stayed in Mingcourt hotel for 2 weeks. Used to walk around hotel area and that's how i came to know Ampang park, walking distance away from hotel. A place where I shopped, dined with no worries, a very safe place back then. Ampang park was always busy with people, a place where families and friends hang-outs. I was very thankful that Ampang park caterred all my needs. I will cherish the moments and memories I had with Ampang park. It hurts knowing Ampang park is no longer exists.

Yeah still in memories after school from Ampang boys school my grandma will be there waiting outside the school n every day we walk through the Ampang park 1985
Used to be a regular at Love Music during my years growing up in KL in the late 80s early 90s.. days of casettes and CD shoppinh in the era when the best music were made. Thank you Ampang Park for the memories. Visiting KL will never be the same without it.
Sedih sgt, Dulu arwah bapak aku selalu bawak aku gi Supermarket Hanku Jaya@Ampang Park, Makan McD dan Main Game Arcade kt tingkat atas ampang park..banyak kenangan kami di sana..sbb kami masa tu tinggal di Kg Bumiputra. Sebuah kg setinggan tak jauh dari ampang park.
zaman kecik2 aku abis kat Ampang Park... Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Breakdance kat situ la aku tgk.. aku jln kaki je pegi ampang park sbb dekat sgt dgn rumah aku.. semua tu tinggal kenangan... 😢
Masa tu tahun 1981 (darjah 1). Tindik telinga pun di sini juga. Banyak kenangan masa kecil saya di sini.
Saya xtahu...setiap masuk ampang park hatiku selalu tenang...kalau tengah sedih saya selalu pigi ampang park. Tapi saya suka pigi ampang park pun masa dah nak tutup dulu.
I have many fond memories here and have made friends with some of the tenants. I hope some of them will be given shop lots at the underground MRT station when its completed.
Am I the only one who thinks that Ampang Park needs to be preserved, just like the first A&W (first ever fast food outlet in Malaysia) and Stadium Merdeka (where our proclamation of independence took place!), but too bad these 3 monuments are going to be annihilated in the name of development... Sad...
Bergetar dada aku masa nak ending video ni..bye..bye..Ampang Park, i will always love you😭😭😭.. Sweet memories terlalu byk kat sini..selalu main kete langgar, mkn mcdonald, lpk kedai makan,curi2 masuk wayang, main kat tangga dia paling best unik sgt semua tu tahun 1984/85. Naik bas len seng 20¢ je sampai 😂😂,bass mini masa tu xsilap 30¢.mkn mcd rm3 burger set dpt dah..
aku pernah bkerja d DUNKIN DONUTS ampang park ni pd thn 2011 - 2013 . aku kenal pakcik security ni org dia pakcik raja . kenangan yg x boleh aku lupakan bkerja d ampang park ni .
Well what to expect, Malaysia is known for demolishing old buildings, its hard to make them sustain. Why can't we follow like Singapore? Singapore still has their Lucky Plaza and now its still there. Ashamed on the KL city council and the govt.
I have been there before. It's sad after 44 years of operation and the curtains were closed finally. Feel sorry for all the traders where their shop lots were like a second home. Some of the workers and staffs may be too old to find jobs elsewhere. 😔 😔 😔
tapi Kimisawa tu kejap je bukak. Emporium makan tu mmg legend la. Satu lagi..sy lupa namanya. Lepas Emporium Makan kurang popular, kami sekeluarga shopping kat satu tempat, masih di Bandar Klang..tak silap Ocean Mall. Still there?
Pernah tgk Allahyarham Sudirman buat concert kt ampang park, masa tu kecik lg, masa bapak ajak family pergi kl mesti singgah ampang park, kenangan betul, 😭😭😭🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
We used to stay right across Ampang Park in a little 3 (or was it 4) storey flat. That was in late 70s. Lots and lots of memories here. Good bye Ampang Park...

A sweet memory down the Lane 1980s.. Long lost contact my housemates..where were u all my dearly friends..
Ampark Park adalah tpt membeli belah yg pertama yg pernah sy jejak sejak sy kecil lg kerana berdekatan dengan flat kg baru, rumah cousin saya. Banyak memori bersama cousin sy yg pernah bekerja d sana..

Old school malls that still stand today are very interesting places, its a shame they arent maintained to the level you expect as they are part of our modern history, Komtar suffers from the same problems.
Lepak dgn member kt snooker.. nak balik bas dh takde.. sambil tgk hustler2 main snooker, tido atas kerusi.. esok pagi kul 6 blk naik bas.. kenangan ampang park

I miss Ampang Parl. As a young man, I used to hang around here a lot. I am now in my 60s
Banyak memori di Ampang Park. Tempat saya mula kerja- masa saya merantau datang ke KL.
pancake ikan kt level bawah tu mmg jd kegemaran zaman 70/80an dulu....
Kenangan kat ampang park mmg banyak.. Hilang segala galanya memori..
In Klang, Emporium Makan already in demolishing process, also for MRT construction. All 70s childhood and teenage memory gone with the wind.
Call me Ah Bu Wah!! You still remember Emporium Makan! Ya..shopping raya here. Remember Kimisawa?
@@zuwairiabdaziz1414 yayaya... Kimisawa.
Still there?
@@zuwairiabdaziz1414 sebelum ocean ialah Rich, lepas tu barulah Ocean,. Lepas ocean gulung tikar, adel lagi. Tapi dah lupa ape nama supermarket

Old school malls that still stand today are very interesting places, its a shame they arent maintained to the level you expect as they are part of our modern history, Komtar suffers from the same problems.
