@Captain_Insano_nomercy I imagine this is also the reason guys like AJ Styles avoided joining the WWE at that time. As good as they are, and AJ is one of the all time bests, they'd get lost in the midcard shuffle back then
@aninfinitemindofmusicandreams yeah the TNA guys had room to get themselves over, at least until it started to become WCW 2.0, but during that era TNA was a better place to be for a younger guy

Hearing the ins and outs of that industry, paired with his passion and storytelling makes for crazy compelling content.

His content is so relatable to do many people even if they're not wrestling fans. His wisdom comes from living through so many hardships that I can't help but feel inspired. Keep it up maven. You reach so many
Maven....don't ever be bothered by the haters who say you weren't even a mid-carder. You were there, man, you were in The Show. I'd rather be batting 9th on a major league baseball team for just a three game series, than to have never made it at all. Not everyone can be the clean up hitter, or the Main Eventer, but you were there, dude, and I'm glad to see you embrace it. Thank you guys for a great show! Both of your channels rock the content
Even in the context of RUclips, he's doing a great job! Someone like Undertaker has his subscribers because of who he is, Maven has his subscribers because he puts out genuinely higher quality RUclips content than other wrestlers.
Am I the only one who is happy that Taker's podcast is not on the WWE Network or Peacock and is on RUclips because they are not restricted and they do, say and host whatever they want. Even Mark Callaway seems very comfortable. Also, the channel is growing rapidly.
youtube is restricted and Undertaker said in an earlier podcast... that WWE listens in so Matt was picked for one reason because he understands what they could and couldn't talk about.
@@TheTimMalcolm It seems that you misunderstood me. What he meant was that WWE would have told Taker that you should host this and not host this as well. For example, when the undertaker rates his top wwe small guys of all time spoke on his channel and Chris Benoit said, “You think WWE would have allowed this?” Of course not. They will not allow him to mention his name. This is my point. I hope you understand, as I am terrible at explaining. 😭😭😭
He's growing on me. His sense of humor and, of course, Undertaker always picking on him really makes me laugh. I nearly died when he went into the Hogan impression doing a Blue Chew promo. Seriously, I almost choked on my sandwich laughing.
One of the coolest things about Maven and his RUclips channel is it’s become more than his wrestling. Maven is a moment in the WWE history, here he’s a front runner in wrestler RUclips genre, no longer a moment, he a trendsetter and genre leader, thats a really cool thing to have when we’re talking to a wrestler who doesn’t wrestler anymore talking about wrestling
That line struck me too. I so loved that. Lololololol! It made me realize I am 37 and remember nothing from parts of the 90s in such chronological order as people expect Taker to from his own distant past.
Of all the wrestling content on RUclips, this is one of the best segments out there. The dialogue between Maven and Taker is something I didn't expect. Just an amazing watch from start to finish.
If you are reading this Mr. Calloway I don't know if you remember this but when I was 13 I met you at a covenant store in Denver and you were just so nice to me and I wanted to tell you thank you for that. I'm now about to go into my master's degree program because you told me at that age "don't give up keep trying for whatever it is in life you want" and that has stuck with me.
Oh my god, the call was made and it's finally answered. Wow, thank you so much for getting Maven on the show. Lots of memories from 2002 seeing Maven and Taker together, I still remember Maven eliminating Taker from the rumble match and then going on to beat him for the hardcore title. Absolutely loved this
Maven is an awesome dude! Met him 10 or so years ago when he was bouncing at an NYC bar. Couldn’t be the nicest person, thank you for taking the time to talk to me.
Undertaker might be the most genuine guy out there. There is a reason why he is the goat. The way he mixes with people and surely makes them feel that they are not just sitting out there with the Undertaker but just a brother from another mother. He is the guy.
yep!when he retired we became adult and thinking that we might never see him again unless if there are WWE special occasion but here we are.....bless the internet!
Maven got me watching wrestling again after skipping it for 15 years. His personality is so infectious and his ability to tell stories is relatable. I also can’t help but feel like he was a missed opportunity in the WWE. He is so well beloved right now and I even know non wrestling fans who like him. I really think the WWE should hire him as a commentator or bring him back as an interviewer at live events (or backstage segments). Seriously he’s a star and it’s such a wasted opportunity. When the Undertaker is literally praising him and saying his podcast was inspired by Maven - he is doing something right.
He took the words right out of my mouth, I haven’t looked the WWE’s way since i was 13 and ten years later here I am buying 2k23 😂 binging content, and watching wrestling movies/documentaries like I’m 10 again
Talk about seeing two wholesome individuals dedicated to their craft... One for 30+ years and one for 5+ years. This is beautiful to watch... I Don't think I've listened to something over a few minutes long in years. Thank you Mark and Mave for what you did and continue doing. The amount of respect shown by each of you to one another... The world would be a better place with more men like you.
The reason I love Maven’s RUclips content so much is because of his come up. He was just a fan like any of us, went on a reality show and ended up in the WWE. It kinda makes me feel like we’re all one step away if they brought back tough enough lol
I'm 37 years old, male, currently working as a physician in Ohio. I remember most of the TV memories these 2 are talking about. The content is super interesting because that golden era that gave us so many memories is layered with so mnay differrent perspectives which helps people of my generation relive those moments. Keep it coming @Maven and @Taker
My favourite part about this is the fact that back in the day when Mave was wrestling you would have thought that him and Taker wouldn't have been all that good of buddies but they're chemistry and very clear admiration for each others body of work goes to show they genuinely like and care for each other. This isn't abnormal for wrestlers but these 2 I personally would never of picked to get along so well outside the ring. This is part of what makes wrestling great! Super informational and inspiring guys keep up the amazing work!
Pro wrestling is truly a unique form of entertainment. It's one of the last types of theatre with a mass appeal and allows for really unique forms of storytelling that you only would find in fantasy, except it's all grounded in reality.
Thank you Matt and taker for doing this podcast. I know it's been an internal struggle doing something outside of wrestling but it's really helping me get through this tough time I'm in right now. And when I see a new video posted I get a sigh of relief knowing I can make it another day if I listen to the new episode. Matt's great and taker is great, please keep making more videos
Why has this become such a popular thing to do in RUclips comment sections? You don't air out your shit to strangers for sympathy. We all got problems man, toughen up, it's good for you.
@@billycole852He commented it because this is, wait for it..... A COMMENT SECTION. People chat, share thoughts and opinions, insights and experiences. He didn't "air out" anything. He simply mentioned that he's going through a tough time. That's EXTREMELY relatable. Being a total prick to a complete stranger doesn't make you "stronger" or "tougher". You're just a pompous asshole talking shit to someone from behind a screen. If you're this angry and bitter because a man IS strong enough to share that, maybe you need to take some time to reflect on why other people having honest insights makes you so angry. I hope things get better for you.😢

agreed. I think 400k subs later, he’s really coming into his own as Maven the RUclipsr. Lots of people overdo it but he interjects when needed but also isn’t just a ghost
I love when Taker is talking about people turning into fans during his entrance and being intimidated because of the “tenure of the character”, not taking any of the shine for himself and everything he’s done and means to this business. Really humble man. And Maven is an absolute treat to listen to. Loved this show.
Taker and Maven are 2 of the few on YT right now worth my subscription. Great work gentleman. This lifelong wrestling fan really enjoys all of the content you both bring us. Thank You!!
By the way about that rumor that he strike Kanyon hard because he was a gay, and Taker said "someone put that rumor out", this "someone" is Kanyon himself. He was sure that Taker was supposed to bury him, and punish him for his sexuality. This topic was brought at Dark Side of the ring. It is sad that Kanyon was that bitter at that point of his life, to think that way.
Love seeing this collab! Maven’s content is so pertinent because the inner workings of pro wrestling was so taboo for so long that to see someone pull the curtains back at this point is just explosive. People have been so curious for so long and he’s really one I’d the first to do it like he is.
Funny that someone would say that Maven "only spent 5 years in the business, he can't know shit," when that length of time truly is an eternity, as Taker aaid. The Attitude Era was less than 5 years. The Rock's initial run from debut to first Hollywood departure in 01 was less than 5 years, with his overall full time career being less than 8 years. You can get a shit tonne done in that time, and you can pick up a whole bunch about the business, or any stories. Maven giving his view on things is absolutely valid.
you gotta think, they on the road and doing shows multiple times a week almost every week of the year. That is like a 2021 car that has 200,000 miles, when you typically see that kind of mileage on cars nearing 10 years old and beyond
S**t, Brock’ first run was what, less than 3 years?? Correct me if I’m wrong haha, and I’m sure Lesnar did and learned a lot in his first run. People are ignorant to think Mave didn’t learn anything in his short run.
The Attitude Era was where the eyeballs were though. After that got boring. 5 years is still nothing to sneeze at but it's not the same as going through that time.
@@metalswifty23 That's crazy to think about. He truly is one of the greatest "What Ifs" in wrestling history, despite the fact that he's accomplished so much and came back to accomplish even more.

I had to pause here and there to get stuff done, but I found myself itching to get back to it. I smiled, I laughed, I reminisced with you guys and I enjoyed every minute. Please run it back soon!
I think the reason why Maven is so popular on RUclips because he's talking about the Ruthless Aggression era and most youtubers either talk about the 90s or the current product.
No , I definitely think it’s because he’s makes video topics that happen to be about wrestling while other makes wrestling opinions or stories that only a percent of people would understand
He's also giving info aspiring wrestlers need. Travel expenses, what to expect on the road, advice for bags. All good stuff for people looking to get into the business.
Who would have thought 22 years after that drop kick at Rumble 02, we would be sat here watching Undertaker and Maven sat talking wrestling on a podcast. Crazy. 🔥
I haven't watched wrestling consistently since 2008, and watching Maven and his commentary and insight on his time in the WWE is entertaining. But more importantly, nostalgic and informative. Thank you Maven and i'll keep supporting!
The part about an hour in when Taker is talking about psychology is pure gold. I see a lot of wrestlers these days that doesn't get the concept of it at all. A guy will take spinning spiked piledrive from the top of a ladder though two or three tables, kick out of the pin at 2 and start locking up and doing highspots. It's melts my brain when I see that shit.
Yes it feels like that. It's like having a big platter of quesadillas. It's delicious but how can you enjoy that when you have to inhale it all up without tasting it properly and enjoy the efforts the cook made to make it delicious.
@@stalinsoulz7872 I look at it a bit more negatively than you do. It's like a big ol' platter of the nastiest shit anyone could ever eat. Ox assholes or something. I just want a bacon cheeseburger, man. There's no reason nor logic to half the shit that goes on in a wrestling ring these days. On a weekly basis I see dozens of things that make me think "Terry Funk is doing moonsaults in his grave right now." Nobody tries to convince anyone that anything is even remotely real anymore and it just makes the whole thing pointless. Any goof with athletic ability can learn how to do moves, but it takes actually talent to convince people of things. Kayfabe and making people believe in what they were seeing was the true art of professional wrestling and unfortunately, that's a dead artform.
Maven had a great career moment by eliminating the Undertaker at the Rumble, it's unfortunate he couldn't capitalise further in WWE, but as a RUclipsr, Maven is perfect ❤
Yeah because he didn't have to rely on the person who couldn't even book Sting properly because even back in mavens days he was out of touch and maven actually booked himself and we were all deceived. STFU it's not his fault Vince sucked booking even back then
@@ashleyalexander2847Maven himself has said he lacked the discipline to go further and was more focused on what wrestling did for him than that he could do for wrestling.

This just shows the professionalism, respect, and dedication that drove these two people together to creating a truly awesome show for people to enjoy!! Thank you Taker and thank you Maven!!
There are so many lessons in this interview that we can use in everyday life. Helping to make people better makes you better too. Undertaker is clearly an icon, and Maven clearly looks up to him for helping make his career. He helped Maven learn how to respect and lift up anther person making them both look good instead of just looking out for himself. Lifting others up is always a win win situation, and Undertaker understands that, and others should do it too.

What? No disrespect to Maven, but Miz is a 2 time WWE Champion, extremely tenured veteran, and one of the greatest IC champions of all time. Miz is indisputably the greatest Tough Enough contestant of all time. Second is John Morrison.
Definitely needs that spot for being the first, the fact he came up with such big names on the roster, so much so they could fill two rosters with top guys and still have no room for young talents like him at the time to move up..
That answer the phone joke was hilarious. Maven is such a genuine dude. I really appreciate him. We are the same age, I was skeptical with Tough Enough, but he earned his shot. I think his channel is fantastic. Love how relaxed he is
We gotta have Triple H, Shawn Micheals, Edge, Kane, Big Show, Trish Stratus, Lita, Natalya, Randy Orton, John Cena, CM Punk, The Rock, & Stone Cold on the show!!!
I really wanna see Cena as the guest on the podcast because even though they were both top guys for a long time but we hardly got a proper Cena/Taker feud....so I'd love to hear their stories

This episode holds a very special place in my heart as a 28 year old die hard wrestling fan. I just turned 28 last Monday, so i was 5 years old watching the 2002 Royal Rumble. It wasnt my first Rumble, because both of my parents are diehard fans as well, so I was listening to J.R and Jerry Lawler on commentary when i was still in the womb lol. But the 2002 Rumble is the first one i can vividly remember watching, and the Royal Rumble is my favorite match I look forward to every single year. I can still remember both of my parents freaking out when Maven elimentated Undertaker, and seeing the following beatdown lol. But I still watch wrestling religiously, and love both of these gentlemens RUclips channels, and seeing these two go in detail about the Royal Rumble just makes my soul happy. Cheers to all three of you gentlemen for this episode, and cheers to all of my fellow wrestling out there enjoying this awesome content with me!
I can't get enough of the back stage and road stories. Listening to you guys talk about the things that no one ever saw just furthers my love for this business. Am I the only one who is happy that Taker's podcast is not on the WWE Network or Peacock and is on RUclips because they are not restricted and they do, say and host whatever they want. Even Mark Callaway seems very comfortable. Also, the channel is growing rapidly.
This just confirms undertaker is tapped in 😭😭😭😭
RUclips unrestricted 😂
youtube is restricted and Undertaker said in an earlier podcast... that WWE listens in so Matt was picked for one reason because he understands what they could and couldn't talk about.
They would want a percent of his profit.
If you are reading this Matt, you are a great host and without you the show wouldn't be as good. (also we need to get Kane on this show)
He's also hilarious in a goofy kinda way and such sweetheart ❤

He's growing on me. His sense of humor and, of course, Undertaker always picking on him really makes me laugh. I nearly died when he went into the Hogan impression doing a Blue Chew promo. Seriously, I almost choked on my sandwich laughing.

It's all jealousy, they think they somehow have equal rights to do a podcast with Taker. Get over yourself. Matt's a good dude

Absolutely loved this
I love how genuinely humble everyone here is. Undertaker is my favorite wrestler of all time and it's is so cool to see this side of him.
THANK YOU MATT. PLEASE HAVE MAVEN HUFFMAN ON THE PODCAST A SECOND TIME !!!!!!!!!!
I thought if we ever got this crossover it would be on a Zoom call or something, but it's good that they did it in person.
Agreed. Much respect them doing this properly. Not the constant disconnect we see.
Only works in person... those zoom call pods get skipped over real fast regardless of guest
Maven is an awesome dude! Met him 10 or so years ago when he was bouncing at an NYC bar. Couldn’t be the nicest person, thank you for taking the time to talk to me.
The crossover we've all been waiting for is finally here. That's how you kickoff a Monday.
Undertaker might be the most genuine guy out there. There is a reason why he is the goat. The way he mixes with people and surely makes them feel that they are not just sitting out there with the Undertaker but just a brother from another mother. He is the guy.
I am from Mavens channel. So good to see you guys back together.

It's melts my brain when I see that shit.
