When I put my tester on where u said the needle doesn't even move I may need a digital tester
when you put the muli meter across the points you must disconnect the points first or it will not read
Thanks for the informative videos Kevin! Recently picked up a 73 G4 trail boss, early style motor. Great information about the KE parts, exactly what I've been looking for, thank you! Are there any grounds needed for the motor to start? Doesn't seem so or maybe not seen in your video. Cleaned the frame before tinkering with the rest, so now I'm ready to see if it runs. Do I need to plug in the key switch? I'll get spark just from the coil wiring? Also, is the kill switch normally open or closed? Thank you for your time & knowledge 👍
Matt Lee most of videos cover trail boss 100
Matt Lee you are welcome
Kevin Bergeron great! confirmation on harness & adaptability between the years makes me happy. I was hoping Kawasaki would have used similar jigs & parts like they are known for.
Matt Lee some magneto are different but I will doing a on the difference and how to make new design work on the old one
Kevin Bergeron this is what I want to know. I want to weigh the option of trying to make my old system operational, or replacing the system.
Do u know where to get the coil for the kd80?
toss and reel fishing the ignition coil
You are welcome what kind of stuff are you looking for
Hey buddy I really really need some help I have a 1987 Kawasaki kd80 it is in real good shapeI bought it from one of my friends and needed a lot of parts on it but the whole wiring harness was took off of it when I got it so I bought the condenser and the points it already had a magneto on it but I don't know if I got everything hooked up right does it had to be grounded out somewhere inside of the crankcase please help me out
Do you torque the inside or outside nut to 36 pounds
There is no inside nut only outside
Its not the same on a 1981 ke125? Mine is cylindrical... im confused i just bought the bike with a no spark condition. It has 2000km ( im canadian) so the points looks like new but my coil is connected to nothing but my spark plug i think the previous owner ripped it off without noticing it. Any ways i need to change it i dont know if its the right coil for it. Its pretty hacked up i beleive the guy who had it changed the whole plug wire with one extra long that looks like its comming from a car.
mastermoi some are different points wire black goes to ignition switch then to kill switch
mastermoi just because they look new they can still have ash on the points
Well, looks like i got myself a fully fonctionnal ke125 for 200$. The power wire to the coil was going nowhere. As soon as i plugged it I got spark
mastermoi awesome congrats
Kevin Bergeron hey man im back at it again with a no spark situation. I rode the bike for 7hrs and for the last 5minutes of riding the bike seemed less and less healty. I found out that the two yellow wires that goes to the voltage regulator melted on the exhaust. I tried welding them back together but still no spark. No that i look at your video i came to think that it might not even be my probleme because youre able to get some from only the black wire connected to the coil on your video am i correct? Now is it possible that those 2 melted wired made some kind of electrical short being in contact with the exhaust piping and mess something up? Sorry if my english is not perfect im french and thanks for making this video and taking the time to reply
how can i send you a pictures of my promblem bc i need help with the wiring of a coil

I cannot find the coil for the KD100 anywhere
Hard find because they never go 6volt coils I haven't seen a bad one on these bikes points and condenser and don't buy the Chinese version they are junk
@@2strokeguru mine is missing completely, most of the wiring is non existant but I got it cheap what do you think I ought to do?
I can't read the comment
@@2strokeguru oh sorry, my coil is missing and the wiring on bike stops after the motor only leaving the connectors for the cables to continue, I watched the whole thing on here but im still not sure of what everything is, also thank you for responding honestly I didnt think you would

Where can i get a ke100 1986 magneto
Would you take a phone call? I'm doing my best trying to sort this out. MC1M. It was my fathers first dirt bike. I'm trying to restore it and I'm a small engine novice. Trying to get a good spark and diagnose this thing is difficult because I can't find a service manual for this bike. The best I got was a service manual for m series.
email me and i will give mynumber luggnutz76@yahoo.com
Hey Kevin I went to a leaner jetting on my main jet. And now I’m getting a throaty sound at full throttle what does that mean?
What size jet did you use and why did you need to rejet
Kevin Bergeron I’m only able to get the bike up to 30mph and I was getting some oil residue outside the exhaust port from the engine and I decided to leaner.
I went from an 80 jet to a 75 jet. I live in Colorado at 6,300 feet altitude
peterson what I would do is put the factory jet back in it clean the the carburetor check the compression with a gauge and reset the timing
Kevin Bergeron how do I reset the timing on a CDI. And I was still going slow with the factory jets
Can a point system converted to cdi .?
yes i have videos on this topic you must watch the complete videos
Kevin Bergeron. thanks
Kevin Bergeron .please send video link
Bashir Hussain very welcome

you are welcome happy to help some times it takes awail for me to answer i normally get to anser questions after hours
Hey Kevin where can I buy the points and coils for the ke100
ebay sells new
What exactly are they called I know eBay has the breaker point and the condenser but what's the 3 coils called I think one is a charging/lighting coil and the other 2 are the 3v coils which I cannot find cause don't know what there calling them
the part you need points and condenser your coil should be fine its verry raar the coil will fail 6volt system
The coils are bad with broken windings like someone didn't know how to take the flywheel off
magneto thats the name of the part magneto
So u think it's most likely points and condenser
yes the points and condensor 99.9%present i havent seen a bad coil
There is a diffrence in Phillip's an jis
Size of the screw driver used to fit the screw most screw are ph#3 on dirt bikers and 4wheelers
Yeah the ignition coil
have you tested the ignition coil the reason i ask i havent seen a bad on itsa 6 volt coil built to 12volt standards super strong points and condensor go all the time
first wire to coil second wire to kill switch
Has anyone ever told you that you sound like the waterboy?
Make fun I'm just trying to help people
i need help
what with
