When I was a teenager, I was riding a Kawasaki Trail Boss (illegally) on the road and got chased by a cop. I got away by heading off road into a hay field and then pasture kind of like this video. I hid the bike, took my tee shirt off and walked home. Turns out, my parents were out sitting on the steps and witnessed the whole thing. My father complimented me on my escape and noted that it was a good move to take off the tee shirt. My cousin happened to be walking along the road and also witnessed this. After the cop lost me, he went back and asked my cousin if he knew who I was. My cousin said, “Never saw him before in my life”. Family. 😁
Credit where credit is due! These are the BEST videos! Please keep making them! When the bike goes around the gate in the grass that really hit a soft spot by the way! Keep up the good work!
NICE! KE100 was my first bike as a kid. Rode that thing a gazillion miles, wrecked it a ton of times, rode it on a National MX track and could clear a 100 foot step-up, even raced it (yes - 50 mile woods enduro style) and it never let me down. Was fun beating old guys on their CR500s back in the day squirting through really tight wooded sections. Love the video, brings back memories indeed!
Holy crap. The quality of this video blew me away. All the time lapse, slow motion, some hyperlapse. Man that must have been a ton of work. And the bike is also just epic
I took a small engines class in high school where we had to bring in our own projects. After we finished my buddy's snow blower we needed a new project. I remembered we had an old bike that had been sitting in our garage for 20 years. A 1976 ke100. It was parked because the clutch was fried. Took the jug off and cleaned it up, tore apart the clutch and replaced it with kevlar plates, cleaned out the carb, and cleaned up the bike. 9 years later it still purrs like a kitten and I love cruising back roads with it.
Just saw this.... I have a 1972 RV 125 from my dad. It sat in his pole barn for 30 years.. I cleaned it up and put some fresh gas. Kicked it a couple of times and boom!!! It started. I'm thinking about redoing the entire bike but haven't had time... Loved watching you do your thing on this one...
I found a junked 1978 KE100 back in 1997 with a seized up engine. bought it for less than $30 and it took me 3 months to source out all new old stock factory parts (engine parts, exhaust, wiring harness, switches etc.) and another 4 months to fully restore the bike on my own except for the machining and the sandblast and repaint of the chassis. Now, I still use it for offroad, trail and leisure rides and for some quick errands. i never had a single major breakdown at all.
Deepak gs, I'm a 2 stroke fan of: chainsaws, string trimmers, outboard motors, and, push mowers...never had much luck with 2 stroke dirtbikes or 4 wheelers. The one exception is a banshee, of course. Lol
Turd Ferg I've got an old snapper with a robin 2 smoke, and a mid 80s lawn boy with the omc 2 smoke that's electric start. Both are self propelled, I might add. Lol
Gave a mates KE 175 a spin in '78 while mine was being repaired. My god the grin I had after that ride, the bike was a total balls out nut job animal!!! Loved it! The KE 100 wouldn't have been that far behind, Kawasaki's were renowned for not hanging about. If you had one back then, I bet you wish you had kept it👿
I just watched your total rebuild of the 396 for the beautiful chevy, I really enjoyed the video. Best entertainment by far. Thanks for your excellent work.
@@rogeronslow1498 kinda neat ,I've never done it but changing the timing is as easy as grinding on the disc shaped valve. I had a 76 for a few weeks before it blew up. I thought it was kinda neat to see the disc turn with the side cover off and throttle open
These guys have been doing a great job in giving the viewers what they want, which is the "money shot" of starting the engine, and now seeing some running and driving/riding really makes the rebuild process satisfying. There are few things more fulfilling than rebuilding something and then getting to use it.
Don't stop making that, the people love you for doing it that way you do. Greetings from germany, Please do some more motorcycles or two strokes. You had a great choice in choosing your engines well in that series.
My Kc100 i had in the 80s accelerated like a madman until 60mph then just sat there not a penny more ,I loved that little beauty,so lightweight and slim. 💯😎
My favorite Hagerty time lapse so far! Riding around the closed gates onto backwoods paths are exactly what these bikes were made for! I've got a 73" Suzuki TS185 in similar original condition that I need to do this to.
I just picked up a 1990 ke100 with 1800 miles on it and its gona be my first street legal bike!! I put a 80cc 2 stroke on a bike and thats all it took for me to be hooked on motorbikes!!
Yea i know that even carbed engines have throttle valves in the form of butterfly or slide valves, but only fuel injected engines have throttle bodies (and injectors)

When we were young, my cousin had a Kawasaki KE175 and I had a Yamaha DT175. We used to race each other and argue about who's bike was faster. Haha. Fun little bikes.
the efforts exhausted and creativity that go into these time lapse vids never ceases to amaze. thanks so much for keeping up the hard work in the shop, and on here for us to enjoy! Anxiously waiting for the next time lapse installment!
I had one of those, a 1974 Kawaski KS 125 2-stroke rotary valve with the carburetor mounted on the side like this one. Had a lot of power for such a small displacement. Enjoyed it greatly riding on the fire roads through the hills.

I love how Davin is so dirverse he could fix a washer and dryer, and with the efforts of the filming/editing crew I'd watch it. Good job guys.
Lovin the variety of the engines you show on the rebuilds & the humour in this vid.
This was my first motorcycle in 1985, when I turned 15. Words just can't describe the fun and freedom one feels when getting their very first ride!
Really appreciate all the work that goes into a production like this!

Your timelaps videos are getting really good , I LOVE WATCHING THEM ,keep them coming .
Finally someone washing the engine before disassembly (not the parts of it afterwards...). Thumbs up!
Liking before watching cause you know the time, skill and effort that goes into these vids.👏

Timinator62 don't forget the 2 stroke smell
The smell....the noise....perfect
and the occasional piston seizures gave emotion to the riding experience
Without a muffler they sound like jet engines.
When you love 2 storkes you don't call it noise, its pure music for the ears.

Hagerty time lapses make every petrol head's day better! Absolutely luv it!
Job well done. One more of them lives on.
People who are able to do this kind of work are absolutely amazing. I have no idea how they do it.
It's not difficult, just love what you do. that's all...
Did I see a carb. Inside the engine I did I did see a carb in the engine
Under the side cover. Very unfortunate placement.
Leave it to Kawasaki to place the carb inside the engine case
Carb was there to support disk based intake system used by kawasaki
It's because it's a rotary valve engine, not a reed valve design. Pro's and cons of each.

Wow this is the 1st time I saw a carburetor inside a crank case. It's weird but kinda amazing.
They're called Rotary Valve engines.
A labor of love, artfully filmed. Most would not even consider restoring such a modest machine to such a degree; that makes you a breed apart.
Davin is such a legend

Ha, i thought it was me but that throttle body did walk away. Apparently 1 person didn't appreciate it 😂
On these older engines, they use carbs rather than throttle bodies and injectors :)
😂 Thanks. I just won $20!! I knew a man would correct me. But just so YOU know, carbureted engines have throttles as well.
TRD jojo all engines have throttles... its throttle bodies that only fuel injected engines have
Yea i know that even carbed engines have throttle valves in the form of butterfly or slide valves, but only fuel injected engines have throttle bodies (and injectors)
This is what RUclips should promote: quality content. Loving this channel.
