The lady laughing is Patsy Kensit, she was married to Liam Gallagher shortly after they became big but I remember her best for being in the movie Lethal Weapon 2 with Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. Her dad was friends with the infamous East London gangsters the Kray Twins and Reggie Ray was her godfather. Her dad was also involved in the Great Train Robbery back in 63 where over £2.5 million was stolen and like the Krays spawned tons of books and movies.
Absolutely love watching you react to all the things you do, especially videos involving WILTY. The expressions on your faces & Jodi’s excitement at the end was amazing to see. Best wishes 👍
You got out bobbed, the more outlandish the more likely it's true, if he ever says I washed my car with a sponge & soapy water in a bucket, I wouldn't believe him, but if he said I've a group of trained gorillas that dip my car in the river like dunking a biscuit in a cup of tea, I'd believe him
Just watched 6 series of Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse gone fishing ,36 episodes of pure genius entertainment bbc ,laughed and cried ,just 2 masters of comedy on river fishing adventures ,wonderful ,you’d love it ,
Parting Apple's is an old trick and I'm not surprised Bob has learned it over the years . The amazement on Greg and Richard's faces ( both well over 6 feet tall ) makes this one . Bob is a real character and a must see whenever he's on one of these shows .
Bob took notice and asked his Uncles and Aunts, I had two Uncles who could do that but never asked how. What a twit, entertaining on the simplest way is above and beyond. Bob is up there with Eric Morecambe and Tommy Cooper. And yes I know Eric was part of a double act, but Ernie knew it was his easy way that did it, and yes they were sticklers for rehearsing.
I used to work as a buyer for a greengrocers. Tasting a sample was routine daily and I used Bobs method. There is the odd stobborn one but generally it is easy.
I wanna see the next 20 minutes after this was recorded, I am pretty sure Jodi rushed to the kitchen to try it maybe succeeding, maybe giving it to Nick and pestering him to do it for a while lol Seen this one a lot but always fun because almost everyone doubts it can be true. Great reaction as always, thank yous!
Loved the contrasting end to this one; Jodi’s face lighting up like a little kid “Nick! We need to do this, quickly go get some apples” 😂 Nick: “no I think we need to practice off camera” 😂
We used to do this all the time when I was younger, I’m so surprised they’d never heard of it - mind you I grew up in a farming community in Cumbria so big strong hands were the norm.
Yep. I saw how to do it once years ago and tried it. It worked but was damn hard. Not easy but definitely possible. No doubt it gets much easier the more you practice.
Remember the rule of thumb is that the thumb is for gripping not for ripping 😂 I hope y’all try it. If you look at the apple around the stem you will see two sides are a bit higher than the other two sides. Those lumps are where you place your thumbs. It will split along the depression.
Prudishness has never more been a quality than today, in a world that likes to publish its every intimate and personal detail. I find Jodi’s sensitivities endearing. And she’s not alone.
Thank you Nick, please keep making Jodie feel awkward lol (i love you both). Bob broke an apple again on Taskmaster a few years later, but the host, Greg Davies was less impressed, because he was on David's team in this episode, so had already seen him do that.
Bob is the real life most interesting man in the world..guy was on TV 30 years ago doing some crazy wild stuf...hes a real life comedy rockstar. grew up watching him and Vic Reeves
Bob is so special. I was 34 years old when I realised a human smaller than me could tear an apple in half… I still don’t understand how he’s the only person I’ve ever heard talk about this aswell.. He’s a time traveller or something man I swear.
I remember seeing this WITLY live and thinking, no way that is impossible, which Bob proves he can actualy do, and does! About a year later on, on another British TV show, an American who I think was Hawiian said she can break open a coconut with her bare hands... and again she did it! That was even more amazing than the apple!
I had tea at my friends house when I was a kid and his mum (who was a tiny woman) tore an apple in half exactly like this and gave us a piece each to share. I told this story for years and no one believed me until this show came out and they saw Bob do it!
I live alone and was watching this with half of the room in pitch dark. Imagine how high I jumped when I heard a little girl's voice at 05:53. It took me a while to realise it was from the video...😳😂
My grandfather did this numerous times when I was young,it impressed the hell out of us. Then we would try and fail every time ,I have done it as an adult for my niece and nephew, they had the same look of disbelief on their faces as we did !
Apples have 2 bulges/bumps at the top either side of the stalk, make sure your hands are on these bumps and you are pulling apart to split the apple between the bumps.
Bob doesn't tell lies, the things that man as done is out of this world. He grew up in the times when anything went as children to keep yourselves entertained
Once I first saw this clip (as you can imagine) - I tried and it damn well worked! I can just imagine, one of you going to the class and saying: "I'm not in good mood today" pick an apple from case and crack it open... Looking around - who's the nxt smartass, LOL
I used to crack walnuts with one hand, thumb and forefinger...only took half second...ended up having to break them open for a few workmates or work buddies at work, might try the apple
On another apple note the Roman Emperor Nero could poke his finger straight through an unpeeled apple...My God men do think about the Roman Empire a lot 😮
Tearing a phone book in half isn’t terribly difficult either… If you’re able to crack the spine just right. Yes, I’ve done it. If it doesn’t crack a certain way, it won’t work. Try it… if you can find a phone book anymore.
Go for it, Jodi. Remember, twisting means tears. You too will be pulling apples in half.
The thumbs are for gripping not for ripping 👍🍎
"parting apples" is the technical term
😂😂

@@annother3350 Yep, that's what it's called in the trade.
The best part of this entire clip is Greg Davies' face when Bob finally does it. He is a 6'8'' behemoth with the face of an excited child.
I agree Jodie's face was a picture and screaming it's a perfect Perfect split, was a joy to behold.
Bob is a national treasure ! Great reaction, thank you

Bob would SO have gorillas wash his car. He's do it just cuz he thought they could.
When Nick said lie, my heart sank. Now I know how Yoda felt in the swamp scene.
😂😂😂

Yeah, if I can do it, most dudes can.
The other good one for impressing drunk people is ripping a telephone-directory in half with your bare hands... all in the technique.
Apples*
You don't need to put an apostrophe there. What is it with people shoving unnecessary apostrophes everywhere?
Bob took notice and asked his Uncles and Aunts, I had two Uncles who could do that but never asked how. What a twit, entertaining on the simplest way is above and beyond. Bob is up there with Eric Morecambe and Tommy Cooper. And yes I know Eric was part of a double act, but Ernie knew it was his easy way that did it, and yes they were sticklers for rehearsing.
@@blackdragoncyrus The classic "Greengrocers apostrophe", in the true sense :)
This was the one I was waiting for you to react. Incredible
I have a colleague who does this very casually when he is having an apple at lunch.
I used to work as a buyer for a greengrocers. Tasting a sample was routine daily and I used Bobs method. There is the odd stobborn one but generally it is easy.
Sweetcorns are also deceptively easy to snap in half
David Mitchell must have been sitting on a cushion, Richard Osman to his left is 6' 7" and Gregg Davis is 6' 8"
I'm so looking forward to your next WILTY video, guys - the one where you, too, are parting apples like Bob.
I wanna see the next 20 minutes after this was recorded, I am pretty sure Jodi rushed to the kitchen to try it maybe succeeding, maybe giving it to Nick and pestering him to do it for a while lol

Nick: “no I think we need to practice off camera” 😂
Imagine them practising off camera! Funny.
That needs to be on camera for a reaction🤣👍
It was great.
'Frighteningly powerful hands, that I found out to my own cost'. David's a naughty boy.
I've seen a produce manager do the exact same with an apple in a local supermarket.
It's so nice to see you enjoying fun with Bob.
Patsi Kensit there from Leathal Weapon 2. She played a South African.
So good, and so funny😂😂❤️❤️love Jodi for wanting to try to do it immediately 👍🏽👍🏽
We used to do this all the time when I was younger, I’m so surprised they’d never heard of it - mind you I grew up in a farming community in Cumbria so big strong hands were the norm.
Bob is magic 😄You mentioning Austin Powers makes me want to watch them all again - I love those movies so much!
I love u 2! Your the first thing I watch when waking up, puts me in a great mood for the day!
I’m so happy!
Well, we know what the next video has to be - Jodie splitting the apple.
I do this every day. It even works with a rock hard Granny Smith. It's more technique than strength. And yes, it breaks into 2 near perfect halves.

I EFFING DID IT! LOL. wtf I feel like Hercules lmao
Bob is so special. I was 34 years old when I realised a human smaller than me could tear an apple in half…
I still don’t understand how he’s the only person I’ve ever heard talk about this aswell..
He’s a time traveller or something man I swear.
Lol, good video, thank you, Bob never disappoints. Do it, gotta see you guys attempt the bare handed apple split, I would deffo watch that!!! 8-)
I could not see a way that it was possible to split an apple by hand so I instantly said it was a lie, even seeing him do it is still incredible
Absolutely love you guys! Jodie's reaction is priceless ! Her excitement is like a child on Christmas morning lol
At 7:02, as soon as Lee catches the apple, Bob pretends to split it, but he didn't have it yet. 🙂
That pure excitement when he did it was amazing 😁
That took a lot more strength and effort than I thought it would.
Imagine having Bob as your uncle growing up.
And yet to this day I've still never tried to do this myself with an apple lol
Yes! I definitely want to see you both have a go breaking an apple. I've not tried yet but plan to.
I had tea at my friends house when I was a kid and his mum (who was a tiny woman) tore an apple in half exactly like this and gave us a piece each to share. I told this story for years and no one believed me until this show came out and they saw Bob do it!
Love Bob! He has the BEST stories on WILTY.
Greg's reaction makes the video. He's got a new hero :)
Yes memorizing the lyrics to a sing and performing your own dentistry are the same thing lol
The moral of this story is, Never underestimate a Brit with an Apple!
You said yourself "the rule of thumb" 🤣
I live alone and was watching this with half of the room in pitch dark.
Imagine how high I jumped when I heard a little girl's voice at 05:53. It took me a while to realise it was from the video...😳😂
I cant remember wgen, but I had seen this done a couple of times before. I knew when I first saw t he should be able to, and he did.
My grandfather did this numerous times when I was young,it impressed the hell out of us. Then we would try and fail every time ,I have done it as an adult for my niece and nephew, they had the same look of disbelief on their faces as we did !
😂🤣😂 ever doubt Bob, unless he’s lying😂🤣😂🇬🇧
I'm watching this with headphones on and at 5:54 I genuinely thought there was a kid in my house lol
That caught me out too
You both have great ears to hear one of our kids!
You've got to try it Nick....the boss has spoken 😂😂😂
This is how you win a lady's heart. Break an apple in half in front of her and she will instantly be smitten 😁
Apples have 2 bulges/bumps at the top either side of the stalk, make sure your hands are on these bumps and you are pulling apart to split the apple between the bumps.
No matter how outlandish,Bob’s probably done it😊
Jodi's reaction was brilliant.
Bob doesn't tell lies, the things that man as done is out of this world. He grew up in the times when anything went as children to keep yourselves entertained
In the 50s in glasgow lots of greengrocers would do this for the kids.
Once I first saw this clip (as you can imagine) - I tried and it damn well worked!
I can just imagine, one of you going to the class and saying: "I'm not in good mood today" pick an apple from case and crack it open... Looking around - who's the nxt smartass, LOL
Jodi’s a teacher but doesn’t look exhausted with bags under her eyes. 😮
Yes you have to try it. 🍎🍏
I remember my dad being able to do this as one of his party tricks, so I knew it was possible. It's certainly not easy though, I can't do it!
I used to crack walnuts with one hand, thumb and forefinger...only took half second...ended up having to break them open for a few workmates or work buddies at work, might try the apple
I just imagine them like "where did you put the cracker?" then you walk in "I'm here when you need me"
My dad used to it. Freaked me out when I first saw it 😮😊
Twisting equals tears. Thumbs for gripping not ripping. Remember that and you too will be parting apples.
If you can find it, Jo Brand cake story. Really funny, and it broke David 😅
"we have to practice first" lol
Never go against bob lol
0:39 So disappointed when Nick didn't launch into Barenaked Ladies.
I found out I could do this after watching this clip..give it a try it's easier than you think!
Don't challenge the missus to do this, she'll make you do it and fail after she completes the task.
Patsy Kensit’s laughter 😂
Proper British legend….. National Treasure
You have a bad memory ,rememberdavid giving the spoilers 😁
Still waiting for your video of you guys splitting an apple apart.
You don't twist an apple to pull it apart the same reason you DO twist a rope: - twisted fibres builds friction and locks the fibres in place.
On another apple note the Roman Emperor Nero could poke his finger straight through an unpeeled apple...My God men do think about the Roman Empire a lot 😮
I can peel a banana with my bare hands 💪
Don't be ridiculous, no you can't.
We British love Mortimer tales.
So many people claiming to be able to do this. I have never seen anyone , before Bob, even attempting it. And I used to work in Produce
Remember….the thumbs are for gripping, not ripping!!
I’ve been able to do that since I was a teenager. I’m 65 now but not tried it in a long time….
It's true........... Because I can do it 😂 😂😂😂😂
I think you need an apple size appropriate to size of your hands. if the apple is too small for them you cant apply enough force.
I've never 'parted' an apple either. I've cleared 5 hours on Wednesday to practice. 😂
Dont ever doubt Bob
If it was a softer fruit it wouldn't work, because it would just squish - pears, plums, peaches, oranges. It has to be apples.
That's easy to do. My dad did it sometimes and after watching his technique I tried it myself. No problem. Just a twist.
Don’t bother guessing, it’s Bob - it’s always true!
If you have trouble splitting the apple, there are videos on RUclips to show you how!
Well, there is another reaction channel that tried it and the wife broke it clean in half, the husband just ripped it in pieces. 😃
you should watch his show Gone Fishing!
I tried this after I saw it the first time and it's actually not hard to do. It's just something that doesn't occur to you to try.
Half point to you Nick. You knew you’d be wrong 😊
Chanel name checks out
It’s possible. I do it all the time. Once you do it once/figure out the technique you will always do it.
My grandad could do this so I knew Bob was telling the truth!
Tearing a phone book in half isn’t terribly difficult either… If you’re able to crack the spine just right. Yes, I’ve done it. If it doesn’t crack a certain way, it won’t work. Try it… if you can find a phone book anymore.
The last phone book we got delievered was about 50 pages long -- even I could do it!
