When Ed is charging his flicker thingy, you can do EX running bear grab. He's pretty much borscht if you do that!
Against Ed's reversal specifically, it has a whopping 13 frame startup. This means that a well-timed light can recover in time to block a reversal attempt, or simply connect if Ed doesn't do a reversal. For Zangief, the best normal for this purpose seems to be crouch LP.
Against wake-up reversals in general, I'm not sure Zangief has great options. There are "safe jumps", where you jump towards a downed opponent with specific timing such that if they do a reversal, you land in time to block it, but if they don't, your jump-in connects. This usually requires a specific amount of frame advantage on a knockdown... and good knockdowns aren't exactly one of Zangief's strong points, so I don't think he has any safe jump setups in his kit.
I would like to point out, however, that the situation is in your favor regardless. If they do a reversal and they hit you, they get like 1300, 1400 damage? But if they do it and you block, well... I'm sure your loyal fans can help you figure that one out :)

OMG Thank you so much GigaHands for your very informative and funny comment lol. Did not think about using EX running bear grab like that, I will try it next time I see an Ed player. This comment might be my favorite comment ngl :D

Yo nice vid, it's cool to see the improvement, sick double ko. Here are some tips. If you want to watch a good gief watch Siberian lab. He's a really good gief who has informative content. For a poke combo, if you Dr mp it'll go into the rest of the target combo but you have to hit confirm it as the last hit is very minus. Your crouching lp and standing lk are also deceptively good pokes they also aren't as prone to getting di'd. Also using jhp hits earlier and does more damage while bellyflop is more for cross ups, also jmk is a good jump in button. As for using supers as a reversal using lvl 3 is much better than lvl 2 in a large majority of cases. Especially with the recent buffs that give gief more super meter in general. One last thing, for the Ed mu it's tough. I think it's one of the worse mu's gief has. You just gotta work your way in. Stand and crouch mk are good pokes he also has weird aa's so jumping isn't half bad against him. You can use di to call out his projectiles up close and psycho snatcher just be careful not to do it too much because he can bait di with psycho snatcher.

Seansagley This is the type of information I've been looking for!!!! Thank you for the information. I have never heard of Siberian lab so I will watch some videos and see If I can learn something. Also, I wanna say that the first time you commented I didnt know what you meant by mp and lk but after doing some studying I am proud to say I know what you mean now. So thank you also for helping me learn all this stuff :3

You have a wake up drive reversal now! I recommend to back throw to light SPD.
