Ive seen 100s of shows from huge bands to hole in wall bands. When i saw CTE it was without a doubt the greatest live performance ive ever seen. KROQ Weenie roast 2017.

Remember god is with you! Even if you feel like he is not, he is always by your side. Life is tough and I hope it gets better. What helped me was forming a relationship with god. Telling him the up’s and downs in life. That has helped me in my mental health journey so much. Anyways god bless you 🙏 ❤
The first album I ever picked out for myself was, "Thank You, Happy Birthday", which coincidentally I picked because it was my 11th or 10th birthday. My cousin who saw my interest in music, (and pretty much paved the way for me to explore music in its vastness), took me to a music store and told me to pick something out and it'd be my present. I think I remember him looking for a People Under The Stairs album and one of Guru's (Rest in Peace) Jazzmatazz CDs, while I spent longer than I should've just trying to find one. After what was probably my 5th lap down all the CD aisles, I finally saw Thank You, Happy Birthday in big red sharpie writing.. which was mind blowing given the timing. I walked up, pulled it out of the cd stack to check it out -the front reminded me of Where The Wild Things Are in that the style was familiar to the back-drop illustrations, "You" was crossed out once as an error and the titles on the back were written very sloppy (something very much on brand with myself). I wanted to look inside so I tore off the plastic (got in trouble after ofc) and again saw these Where The Wild Things Are/Shel Silverstein looking monstrosities and immediately knew this was the one. I was beyond convinced it was meant for me and me alone lol. I had this strange, but sure feeling about it being good. I got home, popped it into my xbox (to watch the "psychedelic screen" as music played XD) and Each. Song. Was. Revolutionary. It was far greater than good. It shattered my perception as an 11 yr old, (if that makes sense lol). I think we all have these nostalgic memories, moments, shows/movies, songs, games etc that were influential to who you became today... for me the album was incredibly key. These past weeks I've had the album on repeat and been stomping/dancin around my room with my broken hand.. remembering just how amazing and influential the groups music was then and still is now. While I miss the more "Punk" sound, it's astounding seeing how vast the bands' understanding of and making music is, which is evident in the many different directions they've gone all while gaining and not losing that truly truly Special factor that led them to where they are today. And now come full circle, where I stand in what feels like a familiar place to Matt's in the video. Life's a trip
This was so beautifully and eloquently written. It's amazing the age range of the fans of this awesome band. I discovered them in my late 40s and now in my early 50s cherish their sound and the flowery nature of Matt's lyrics.
Now THIS is why I fell in love with cage the elephant!!! Not that techno trash they seem to be releasing lately Lol you guys could do hardcore rock, soft headbangers ball, etc. Songs like this and the previous songs nobody talks about are what make you guys special!!! Literally just saw these guys last night in Vancouver and I wake up to see they posted this!! Such an incredible performance and energy, I was blown away, and the energy of the crowd was amazing you could just tell how much their music meant to so many people there. Love this band!❤
