This song makes me cry every time I hear it. I'm a teenager, and my childhood best friend (also a teenager) overdosed on opioids a few years ago. I had just discovered this song around the time of his passing and it will forever remind me of him. The lyrics that hit hardest are "I've been facing trouble almost all my life" and "everywhere I look I catch a glimpse of you" ... I miss you Chippy
We all hate hormones and everyone has had a friend that died For example I’m only twelve and my good friend died of cancer Boo hoo you can’t let it take you down you need to forget the past and embrace the future so don’t get sad because your friend died be happy because this song reminds you of her and keep moving
*SPACE MAN* Did you just tell someone to grow up and boo hoo-ed them when they said their best friend OD-ed? You are either a sociopath, a liar, or both.
*SPACE MAN* um... I’m sorry your friend died but that doesn’t give you the right to undermine other people’s emotions. People process things differently and just because you can “forget the past and move on” doesn’t mean other people can
Emily W. I'm so sorry for your loss. This song reminds me of very similar... Very similar experiences in my life. I don't want to detract from your comment and expressing your feelings so am not including details. I wish you the best, Eve Swan

I just posted this on another song bc I didnt know how underrated they were Okay so I'm not a huge Cage the Elephant fan and honestly have never purposely listen to one of their songs till today on RUclips. I’ve lost mine literally. Advanced frontal and occipital atrophy. Other areas of my brain have taken over many functions. But they said it’s amazing I can still communicate and I must have incredible retention. And that’s true, my ex-husband used to joke my brain was a steel trap, lol. I’ve lost most interests and have severe depression, but music has been my main love all of my life and I’m so thankful I still love it and can appreciate this gorgeous song and Cage the Elephant in general.
THEY FUCKING ROCK! Matt Shultz is like a blend of Jim Morrison, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Ray Davies and Iggy Pop. He clearly has a ton of influences, and I truly think Cage the Elephant is one of the best bands today. I was so glad to see them in December, really allowed me to appreciate them A LOT MORE.
*quickish story* A car was driving by my house (he stops at a stop sign) and I heard the “woooh” part of the song so I tried to quickly get the song by using Siri. Didn’t work. They drove away too fast. So, I immediately tried to search it for myself, singing to Shazam, typing the wooo ooo ooo into RUclips. Nothing. I finally took to my Instagram to ask my friends and none of them knew. I gave up. Over the last two-three weeks, the song would randomly pop in my head and I’d be gutted that I couldn’t find it. Today.. TODAY.. I randomly find a playlist on Spotify and scroll through, seeing Cage The Elephant, I’m like hey.. I know a few of those guys songs, let me try this one in particular. First thing I hear? “Wooo ooooo.” And I damn near cry. So, remember to treasure the little things people, they matter! Now the days nearly over but it feels great to have something small but significant happen. Little things man, little things. *the end*
I had that experience with Queen's Princes of the Universe. One day that badass guitar intro got stuck in my head and I couldn't for the life of me figure out where it was from. I let it go but it would keep coming back to me and driving me nuts. I figured it was 80s and tried some Metallica albums and a few other heavy metal albums but no luck. On a whim, I listened through, some old Queen intros and came upon it. The feeling was incredible, such a rush to solve the mystery.
I haven't ever heard of them or this song, about a month ago I went to VA for a vacation and the day I was leaving to head home, we stopped at DD and a young man pulled up blaring this song and I instantly felt it and asked him what's the name of that song your listening to. He told me and I added it to my list. Right place, right time
The younger actor in this video was part of my orientation group at work, he had mentioned that he'd previously worked in big music videos as an actor but I didn't think much of it, he didn't end up keeping the job for longer than 2 weeks at the company I was at and disappeared and I haven't heard from him since. But every time I returned to this video I knew this guy looked familiar. One day it finally clicked, I know this guy, it's that guy that was in my orientation group. I absolutely had my mind blown by this. Just because this became one of my favorite songs and I listened to this before. I knew he looked familiar in the meetings but I never thought twice about it. His name is Anton Emelin, very peculiar guy with a really strong accent. Just wanted to share this story.
I will never forget seeing these guys at Lollapolooza in 11' in the rain. The energy in that crowd was on another level. All the energy from the crowd and the band, it had been hot on the last day and it was just the perfect moment in the rain! I will never forget that even when I'm taking my last breaths. Thanks Cage the Elephant...love you guys!
Mr.Woo Woo I always wanted to go to Lollapalooza, but I remember when it first began and how overpriced and commercialized everything was, so I have still never made it. How does the more modern show compare to the 90s?

This song reminds me of high school, when my depression was at its worst. This song played on the radio one summer and my head was out the car window. I felt the breeze on my face for the first time in what felt like forever.
I hope you have overcome depression, this song is so calm and gives such a special atmosphere, I am from Brazil, but I like music from outside our country, the songs are so good
@@j-gonzoschannel4 the first song was alright but was mostly there to flow with the sullen scene that had just left us off with. It blended well with the moon that had just been set with Lilith dying.
Because there are several comments here about the supposed meaning of the video, I thought I'd post this... Matt Schulz explained that the old man is the young man's father, and that the young man had resented his father for things like his superficiality, etc. Then after examining his own life the son found that he is part of the world's superficiality and emptiness too, and ultimately he becomes truthful with himself and laments his father's passing. Matt Schulz said that the idea for the song was inspired by a conversation he had with someone else, where both he and the other person were trying to present themselves as being completely candid - but in truth Matt knew that he wasn't being completely honest and instead was trying to present himself in a certain way/give a certain impression. All this is up on wikipedia...
Thanks for the insight! Love the little details!! Comments like this make my day. And, give me a deeper understanding of the artist. The songs meaning. Or origins. Saw a similar comment on their video back against the wall....wit the gnomes. Good stuff! Have a good day! Thanks again

Man, this is a band whose songs just keep getting better over time. Lyrics and instruments getting more sophisticated. Looking forward to the next album!
It really made the end of fight club perfect... but great song tho... my friend that od'd last memory I have of him was him sitting in my car singing it the top of his lungs... man I miss that bastard
I fell asleep one night, and was listening to music while autoplay happened to be on. I didn't know who this band was, but I vividly remember how emotional I got in my dream with this at the time strange song playing in the background. not one for superstitions, but if I was meant to hear this song and get to know this band then I must be one fortunate dude. what a song, what a band.
I heard this song randomly on the radio and I started crying. It was very emotional for me to listen to; made me think about my life in a very nostalgic and melancholy kind of way. If you could put my life into a song it would be this.
I love videos that don't make any sense at all because then you can have them mean anything you want them to mean, and put how ever much sense you want to put in it.
One day I was having a panic attack and couldn’t stop crying. My husband played a bunch of songs loud on the speaker and when this one came on I immediately calmed down. Now it’s my go-to on a hard day.
We used to all have speakers so loud the police would get called if you turned it up half way. Music so loud it makes your bones vibrate knocks you out of a lot of negative states. I miss the 90's sometimes....
@@eshbaum Really? She bothers you that much that it ruined that moment in the game? I mean, I don't like her, but I thought it worked for as forced for a lot of it was.
im sure no one in the band will see this.. but man you helped me get through some of the worst times of my life. and then i met my fiance and you were one of the bands we bonded over. your self titled helped me through hell and melophobia helped me find love. thanks guys
I’ve heard this song many of times but for some reason after 17 hours straight of Borderlands 3, it now holds a special place in my heart. Thank you Gearbox.
ive never been to a concert im 21 and never been interested in seeing anyone. but i feel like i need to see you guys live. you guys make me remember good feelings ive had in my life as a kid its so refreshing... i love you guys.
never seen em live always wanted to they music the type you feel most of it begin simplistic asf i love listen to em jamming along on my guitar you should watch some of their live concert videos they have such a good stage vibe
Got to see them live at Float Fest with one of my best friends ❤️ I mean I expected they're live show to be decent, but it was faaar more than that! It was awe inspiring and exceeded every expectation I had previously had! Needless to say I'll go see them live any chance I get now fam 😎 and I highly recommend anyone reading this to do the same!!!
This song means so much to me... Everytime I go through a rough moment and I feel alone, this song gives me company. When I came abroad and left my family and country (Peru), I put my music on shuffle on the plane and it came on. Only then I started crying. Now 5 years later, I've learned how to play it on ukelele and still makes me feel better when I feel that everthing is too hard and I can't deal with anything anymore. Thank you Cage the Elephant for your wonderful music and precious lyrics!

Aaron Smith I heard it come on and got shivers man. Love that they ended it with what borderlands 1 started with. “Wicked get no rest” is even mentioned in the song. Perfection right there
Cage the elephant is the BEST BAND OF OUR TIME!!! They are so good! Their hits are like my life soundtrack! It’s amazing how many feels they are so beyond words! Real MUSIC!!!!!!
I heard this song first when I was going through a breakup with the love of my life. The girl I wanted to marry. It has such a forlorn and lonesome sound to it, and it amplified the feelings of loneliness and sadness I felt. But I was attached to the song. You know how we do things that we shouldn’t, caught in cycles that perpetuate the things we wish to escape from. I couldn’t stop listening to this song on repeat, just wallowing and bathing in my heartbreak, laying on my bed, with no motivation to do anything at all. To this day, I feel I’ve never recovered from that breakup, and every time I hear this song, it brings back all of those emotions, and I feel this weird sort of nostalgia for the pain and heartache. I can’t explain it. “Everywhere I look, I catch a glimpse of you…”
Sorry what your going through, and I know like you say you haven’t fully gotten over her, but keep on going, keep pushing on with life, don’t let this hold you down, as this wound will heal itself with time.
@Justin Coots, Usually the melodies in A minor (Am) are like this, sad, a little melancholic and they bring us these feelings of a little anguish, they are sad.

I heard this song on the radio and didn't know ANY of the lyrics he was saying except for the word trouble. I looked everywhere for songs with the word trouble in them xD finally found this. :)
That's lucky. There are some songs that you can only hear the tune, or you know it just for a couple of instrument parts and it makes it nearly impossible to find.
This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. - Psalm 34:6-7

This video is about coming of age. The old man he shoots is himself. He's choosing a path between the grass roots he was raised with, or the glitz and glamour or Hollywood. It's much deeper than just a video. The band and/or lead singer regrets the spotlight
Everyone keeps saying this; but Matt Schulz explained that the old man is the young man's father, and that the young man had resented his father for things like his superficiality, etc. Then after examining his own life the son found that he is part of the world's superficiality and emptiness too, and ultimately he becomes truthful with himself and laments his father's passing. I knew Cold, Cold, Cold was a banger when it got rotation on a local music video station. It was too much of a banger; I had to listen to the album. Been listening to it for a couple of days now. This song had been thrown up to me by the algorithm recently - not surprised it's on this album. Seriously, give the whole album (Tell Me I'm Pretty) a listen; it's really well played, sung and produced. I guarantee other songs will grab you by the ears like this and there are a few flavours of mood as you play through. These guys are way underrated and dont get enough play. I can hear solid rock influences from the past and present, skillfully woven in with their style to make for an album worthy of respect. Thank you guys, this album is a very pleasant experience to me. :)
Here's my initial interpretation. It tells the story of a boy who fought with someone close with him, probably his dad. This fighting somehow caused him to lose this person and it was only after this loss that the boy found out that they had experienced hell themselves (the war medal) which is why they were so stern with the boy. It was just him being protective. Through his death grew the boys will to make something of himself, and he glimpsed the rich and powerful, of whom he wanted to become. His success then dragged him into the folds of the rich folk but he felt out of place in their presence. A laughing stock. All the time he felt racked with guilt over the loss of his dad, and finally lays this burden to rest. I probably missed and misunderstood a lot. Feel free to reply with your own interpretations.
+i5m1thy hey, I think you are really really close! as an actor who play this boy I feel pretty much the same about this story. The boy killing his older him self, and he is lost. and he is afraid to be by his own, he doesn't know what to do. and he is going trough this conflict: from fear, to peace in the end. idk if it makes sense, since i'm originally Russian, and language is one of the barriers to big acting in LA, but that's how I see it!
+Chandler Hull I think he saw a miracle like mirage in the desert, like a some hope, like some answer but it's a fake and sort of trap, She disapears and the guard take him, and grab to the devil. It's really metaphorical video, and gives everyone space for their own perspectives and points of view. and that's a beauty of this video.

God don't let me lose my mind...I have been praying for that for years.
To late.

*quickish story*
A car was driving by my house (he stops at a stop sign) and I heard the “woooh” part of the song so I tried to quickly get the song by using Siri.
*the end*
aww i love it. It was like a little adventure. I love when these types of things happen. They wait makes the reward sweeter.
What a long story
Right place, right time
Skin and bone off the lastest album. Give it a listen.
MP Rabie interesting story, thanks.
my brother used to listen to this song, I can't help crying because he's gone, but it makes me feel so comforting
You just keep going and know he's not feeling anymore pain or sadness. No words can ever help with such pain.

A year late but still, sorry for you loss.
One can never die. Only change forms. Sorry for your pain!

I will never forget seeing these guys at Lollapolooza in 11' in the rain. The energy in that crowd was on another level. came here after The Strangers : Chapter 1 trailer! such a cool song! I'm gonna put on my Spotify playlist. ❤

We used to all have speakers so loud the police would get called if you turned it up half way. Music so loud it makes your bones vibrate knocks you out of a lot of negative states. I miss the 90's sometimes....

Great songwriting, great musicianship, great rock n roll for the past...what...12 years? Love these guys.
“Everywhere I look, I catch a glimpse of you…”
Well buddy, maybe what you need is "Just Another Girl" By The Killers
Sorry what your going through, and I know like you say you haven’t fully gotten over her, but keep on going, keep pushing on with life, don’t let this hold you down, as this wound will heal itself with time.
@Justin Coots, Usually the melodies in A minor (Am) are like this, sad, a little melancholic and they bring us these feelings of a little anguish, they are sad.
Do not fret. At 70 I re-met a girl I almost married 47 years ago. Both divorced and our kids grown. We are having the times of our life.
I know what you mean about nostalgia for heartache. I haven't experienced what you have, but I know that feeling quite well.

Caroline, Please tell me you're a virgin!!! If not? You have my heartfelt condolences!!!
Oh...You too Amanda!!!
+Joeg Voll wtf is wrong with you?
Maybe us 3 should get together, Caroline, Amanda and Joeg...we can have a 3 some and if we're not too tired, after, we can consider over throwing the government. I will travel, if you're etremely hot...if not, we can meet somewhere in the middle.

Lyrics!
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
We were at the table by the window with the view
Casting shadows, the sun was pushing through
Spoke a lot of words, I don't know if I spoke the truth
Got so much to lose
Got so much to prove
God, don't let me lose my mind
Trouble on my left, trouble on my right
I've been facing trouble almost all my life
My sweet love, won't you pull me through?
Everywhere I look, I catch a glimpse of you
I said it was love and I did it for life
I didn't do it for you
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Will it come to pass, or will I pass the test?
You know what they say, yeah, the wicked get no rest
You can have my heart, any place, any time
Got so much to lose
Got so much to prove
God, don't let me lose my mind
Trouble on my left, trouble on my right
I've been facing trouble almost all my life
My sweet love, won't you pull me through?
Everywhere I look, I catch a glimpse of you
I said it was love and I did it for life
I didn't do it for you
Trouble on my left, trouble on my right
I've been facing trouble almost all my life
My sweet love, won't you pull me through?
Everywhere I look, I catch a glimpse of you
I said it was love and I did it for life
I didn't do it for you
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Got so much to lose
Got so much to prove
God, don't let me lose my mind
Matt looks like some kind of weird mix between Beck and Brad Pitt. Peculiar man.
I also saw a bit of Jackie Chan.... on side profile of Matt's face... sorry... shape of his mouth maybe? lol
Ron weasleys dad?
I thought Beck and Christian Bale.
Beck and Paul Rudd?
Bit of Ewan McGregor in there
You were always the good friend JJ, we will miss you in the next season. 🕊️

Chapter 1
This video is about coming of age. The old man he shoots is himself. He's choosing a path between the grass roots he was raised with, or the glitz and glamour or Hollywood. It's much deeper than just a video. The band and/or lead singer regrets the spotlight
David gorka who gives a shit? It's just a song.
Look at the vevo show ant tell of this song
David gorka I love the the look he gives the camera when he says the line "you know what they say, the wicked need no rest"
Omg thanks
Everyone keeps saying this; but Matt Schulz explained that the old man is the young man's father, and that the young man had resented his father for things like his superficiality, etc. Then after examining his own life the son found that he is part of the world's superficiality and emptiness too, and ultimately he becomes truthful with himself and laments his father's passing.
This song is lowjey good after that "The Strangers" trailer🎉
My favorite song by this band. I love the slightly psychedelic sound of this!
Beautiful!
I just discovered them a fews days ago...HOOKED,HOOKED,HOOKED !!!
great song
I hear a little bit of The Beatles in this song. I love psychedelic music.
+Strings 1043 me too...these kind of sings are so whimsical
Everytime I feel that my mental health is declining I play this song and I feel a bit better. Doesn't matter how serious or petty. This song somehow makes me feel better..
If you don't like this song, I'm afraid we can't be friends
I'm happy to see I'm not the only person that chooses friends based on their music taste

This band and this song are on a whole nother level friends. Been following them since Aberdeen days, they are the most underrated band in history.
Considering there are probably thousands of wonderful bands with less than 100 views out there, you should probably tone it down
@@thepierre396 should I tone it down? Lmfao maybe you should keep ur 2 cents to yourself, there's "probably ",so ur not even basing ur ignorant comment on a fact? Ur just saying something to be saying something. FU ,u tune it down. Your comment literally makes zero sense.
This song is a spiritual experience.
What a brilliant composition!
The lincoln lawyer finally giving it the recognition it deserved!
just finished the last episode and came looking for the song
Depois de muito tempo sem ouvi-la estou aqui com lembranças de muito carinho de uma época não muito boa, meu Deus.. que lembranças boas ❤
THE OOOO PART OF THE SONG HAS BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD AND I FINNALLY FOUND THE SONG YESSS AHHHHHH
+Antoine Mayweather I'm curious what the woman dressed as the harlequin represented? And you were great in the video. :)
