I rode in a retired Trailways Eagle Model 10 that was being operated by Gray Line of Portland, Oregon, It was impeccably well-maintained!! Had 8V71N Detroit Diesel engine in it and ICE COLD air conditioning!! It was 92 degrees on that mid August day!!! The reclining seats were EXTREMELY comfortable!! There were footrests in front to rest your feet on and the restroom was exceptionally spotless and clean, That coach just GLIDED down I-5!! That Torsilastic suspension sure is GREAT!!!

I remember as a kid/adolescent, picking up and sending Grandma off to Rocky Mt. NC from Port Authority NY. And seeing these Ginormous Silver Eagle buses. I thought WOW! these are so cool! Oh! and don't forget the savory aroma of diesel fuel in the station!

Although I'm a big fan of the Eagle 01, I remember the 05's and they were, indeed, classic beauties! Along with the 01, the 05's seemed to be everywhere back in the 70s and 80s! To me they were more attractive than Greyhound's MC-7 and MC-8 models.

In my first year in college I worked for Continental Trailways in 1971. The Golden Eagle would come from Dallas, stop in Ft. Worth at the station I worked in, then it was non-stop service from Ft. Worth out on Hwy. 377 to Stephenville drop down on Hwy. 281 and into San Antonio. That coach service had s stewardess (what they were called at the time) on board serving drinks and snacks. She was a beautiful coach to see coming into the station.

+werksdesign " That coach service had s stewardess (what they were called at the time)" So what are they called now? :) I still use the term stewardess (or is it hostess?)

@ swollario thanx for seeing that too. I feel that also Trailways could make much profit off new Eagles lol. Motorcoaches arent the same anymore. Eagles define American motorcoaches IMO.
