Elon Musk hits back at suggestions he should have donated billions to charity

- Elon Musk has detailed how his companies contribute to the good of humanity after a reporter questioned him about why he didn’t donate the $US44 billion to charity instead of purchasing Twitter.
People should worry more about what politicians do with OUR money, rather than what Elon does with HIS money.
Exactly.
Excellent freakin point!!!
BOOOOOM!!!!!!!
100%
Donate to charity??? Like blm to buy more mansions
If he donated 4 billion to charity half of it wouldn’t make it to people that need it but end up in the pockets of executives and board trustees.
Half is generous. Usually it’s only around 10-15%.
@@toosense yup, almost all charities are set up as tax write-offs, and are completely tax deductible, they are a scam. It's best to help those in need directly, knowing it won't almost entirely go into administration and overhead.
@@toosense Much less than that, try about 1% and you're getting closer.
Kujo Painting lmao. Y’all think that money being donated goes to those starving African kids? Wow.
@@Namedeeznuts yes if that was true a majority of Africa wouldn't be poor. All these charity's are scamming.
A large international organization once asked him for 6 billion to "completely solve" world hunger. He said Yes, as soon as they laid out how the money was going to be spent. They couldn't, so he didn't. So many look to other's money as a solution to problems they don't understand.
Pretty sure they had answered him on how it could be done. Might be wrong tho
@@dansrod5952 No, it was only going to solve hunger for like 1-2years. Most hunger now is due to political decisions, rather than famine.
@@dansrod5952 They answered him by disproving themselves. They could feed people for a year, then they're going to need more money because they don't know how to SOLVE the problem, only stick on bandaids. Good thing their budget is many times more than they asked him for, they should be able to solve hunger for several decades based on their budget THIS YEAR...
It's his money. A befitting response to these critics should have been "don't tell me what to do with my money". Imagine spending over 20 years to building a fortune, only to be told by a nerdy 16 year old behind a computer how you should spend your hard earned cash.
It’s worse than that..the SAME people telling everyone to give their money DO NOT GIVE ANYTHING! They demand you do it when they themselves DONT. They are delusional pathetic losers
Buying Twitter was a charitable act. He's giving aid to victims of censorship.

If he did donate to charity, I guarantee they would keep most of it and hand little to people who need it. He is doing a lot for humanity as it is.
Charity NGOs use at least 85% of money for administrative expenses. Charity is a way to write off assets for tax purposes. If you go to philantropic websites they do not ask you who needs help. No. They have a form so you donate them money. It means they are rich and still they want your money.

It doesn't matter how much one does for humanity, there are always those who complain that it is never enough.
The journalists ask such a question as if it were the most normal thing in the world to donate 44 billion of his own fortune. This man does enough for humanity, just because he creates jobs around the world and inspires other people. I would be interested to know how much these journalists, politicians donate from their money every year. Respect to Elon Musk that he takes the time to answer such stupid questions.

It just twitter, you agreed to their terms of service when you downloaded their app. If you dont like it, just dont use it
I love Elon! He’s literally such a great leader - he deserves every penny he has. He’s an inspiration to all of us. The left just doesn’t see it
The left is afraid of a man like him.
@@davidb2206 they sure are. And it’s telling!
neither the left or the right sees the truth about Elon...
Oh they see it… that’s the problem… they don’t WANT him to be like that… they want him to "fall in line" and do what THEY want…
They are that! That is why they are trembling.
He did! He purchased Twitter! Its a larger endeavour- than Food Bank, hospitals, education support. We the people handle those sorts of charities. He takes on what all of can nit!
Keep your focus ELON!!!
Wait why are people online complaining about what a billionaire does with this money instead of volunteering at a homeless shelter!? They have 24 hours in a day they can at least spend 20 of it volunteering.
If I was Elon I wouldn’t even bother with that reporter! He’s really a gentleman
She got put in her place. Why didn't SHE mention all the good things he has been doing?
That's today's journalism, they always demand everyone spread their wealth but not their own
I’m glad I saw this interview so I could see for myself what a gentleman he is. He listens and gives serious and sometimes witty answers to ridiculous questions.
He truly is and well able for media.
The last question from the Burgundy Babe is not a reporter, that’s La La Anthony. Don’t know how she got the mic. Elon is very focused on answering the questions to the best of his ability. Lovely he brought Mom.
"Charity" seems to be where has-been actors and politicians go to grift. How much of a contribution to charity actually goes to the stated goals vs. paying "management" and doing expensive "events"? Like Biden's cancer charity; all the donations were spent on the front office and almost nothing got thru to cancer research. Elon is right to keep control of his money and spend it as he sees fit rather than give it to some "charity" that siphons it all off for graft, like the Clinton Global Initiative paying for Chelsea's wedding.
The amount of money charities spend to get MORE donations is THROUGH THE ROOF.
@@Atheist7 you're absolutely right about the asking for more donations being through the roof. I can remember a couple of Charities I made one donation to and the amount of mail they sent to me for many years after I made the donation far exceeded the donation I gave.
As we know from orgs like Red Cross and the Clinton foundation basically NONE of it actually goes to the goals and they barely pay the volunteers.
Just look at the Clinton foundation. They pretended to help Haiti, until they kicked them out, they no longer wanted the Clinton's
"charity". Finally they were left with no choice but to use their foundation funds for themselves, and Chelsea's lavish wedding.

I used to donate to H 4 Hum.
Years & years after I stopped, they stalked me 4 donations. No more.
People need to stop worrying about how he spends HIS money and worry more about their own business.
Never over estimate anyone never underestimate anyone just don't second guess his moves he is better than the best chess ♟️ player and has great ideas and positive constructive actions and intentions and his repertoire speak for itself and for him clearly .👍❤️💯
He literally ONLY uses his money for philanthropy. The fact that hes made more money by doing that just further proves how legendary he is.
i think people should always capitalize HIS MONEY whenever they talk about musk
The purchase of Twitter was in fact a donation to charity regarding all the persecuted, banned and canceled conservatives
dude has ZERO YACHTS, nuff said
Most ppl won't even donate a nickel to charity yet they want to challenge Elon Musk what he does with his money as if it's not enough! Pfbbbt!
Exactly
USA has literally over 700 billionaires
Why aren't others attacked?
Those that were upset at his purchase of Twitter last week are most likely the ones criticising him for not donating the purchase money to charity. These people are good at criticising the behaviour of others, telling others to make changes, what to do etc and yet they will do nothing that they tell others to do.
They are out of place! Elon Musk can do whatever he wants with his own money. And, if he wants to buy Twitter for 44 Billion Dollars of his own money, then so be it! All these groups who are trying to pressure advertisers to not advertise on Elon Musk's new Twitter can go "jump in a lake". Twitter will be better off without the likes of them!
@@Firefly-ht9fp are you from the Caribbean? I am asking because you said " they are out of place"
I am from the Caribbean and that is something we say alot.
Every time I hear people demanding super rich to give to charities I always mention how Americans even the poorest ones are some of the richest people on the planet and yet give nothing to charity. It's nobody's place to tell other people what to do with their money and I will never understand why so many people don't understand that.
I cannot believe anybody has the audacity to tell any other person how to spend their money.
Its funny how he has to explain that he is doing a favor to humanity, yet there are people that are criticizing that he isn't doing enough. Its ridiculous. A lot of that money you donate ends up getting stolen by workers in that organization.
He is doing more for humanity than anyone else.
Mr beast
dont be daft, gates and soros has done way more 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@f.m.bproductions7197 Gates does more….. to……, that is why his wife kick him out of the house 🤣🤣😂😂
The question is instead of investing your money in a company that will mean you still have the $44 billion assets plus the ability to make more, say $100 billion why didn't you give away $44 billion and lose the ability to invest the money and capitalize on it.
The answer should be, I am not Dr. Dolittle I don't communicate with animals. These people have the combined intellect of a sparrow.
The space company does little for humanity.
"What did you do for Ukraine?" As if he has any interest in that war. He shouldn't even help any side
Why doesn’t any of the rich give money??😏😏
Leave this guys alone!! We are proud of him. From Los Angeles, Ca.
People should worry more about what politicians do with OUR money, rather than what Elon does with HIS money
Amazing how generous people are with other people's money.
I agree with you Ines 👍
I would love an audit of every person's financials that asks what another person is contributing to charity.
Underrated comment!
That's called Marxism/Socialism.
It's real easy to give away someone else's money.
any "charity" probably would take like 98% cut from 42B... for their hard work
As a person who is not a fan to rich people including Elon and as a person who probably doesn't know what he's talking about. Most of his companies are sustainability projects in themselves. He doesn't have to donate, he's working towards it.
Elon is smart enough to build things that will last. He doesn’t just give away all his wealth for one time use that will help people for literally a moment. He is building companies that are self sustaining, actually contribute to the world economy, AND are for the good of humanity.
Well said. Make you wonder how many of these people give any money to charity.
Plus the corruption in many charities
@@firewoodtime2 true, I don't trust many charities. At least I know what Ellon is using the money for.

Scolorships for young geniuses that want to follow in your foot steps. needy smart young people from broken homes. Give them a chance to feel good about there future. Yes that's a good charity.
