    John, on average how many nights per week (or per month) do you spend at home versus sleeping in your truck? It seems that a tanker driver living close to your terminal can get one to one and a half days off a week (presumably spending that time at home). Is it fair to say a driver can make more OTR being a road warrior but will not be home nearly as much as tanker drivers are? Quality of life is an often overlooked factor for many people looking into trucking. Also, Is there an advantage to doing a lease-purchase where you can get a truck paid for, or does Prime require their trucks to be so new that you’d only be able to use a paid-off truck for a few months before it would “age out” and require you to get a new truck? Thanks!

      I slept in my truck a total of 3 times in 2020. I would say that is a result of two things; first, the fact that I have been doing this for almost 6 years now, and secondly, that getting home is my top priority. I definitely slept in my truck more often in the past. I also have said that I could make more money if getting home wasn't my top priority. Finally, as long as you keep your truck in good working condition, it won't "age out." After a certain time frame, it is simply subject to yearly inspection in order to stay with Prime. We just had a guy with an 8+ year old truck running my dedicated, but he finally decided to move on and quit.

    Do they do the tanker training

    Just out of curiosity, out of the total 30% you take out for taxes. At the end of the year about how much do you have remaining? I’m assuming that the total you owe doesn’t come out to a full 30% and you take that much out to be on the safe side. I was figuring if you made a total of $129k and you made 71% of that you would end up about $92k and if you calculate 30% of that taken out over a year it’s about $27k. So I was wondering about how much if that $27k you get to pocket after taxes are paid. (Assuming my math is close to accurate lol)

    I hope you are doing well, Sir. Can you answer two questions? Ballpark gross weekly pay for eastern US tanker? Any idea if Prime is putting on new tanker drivers? I want to start PSP in February 2021.

    • @JohnOgren
      @JohnOgren  4 года назад +1

      The answer to your first question depends on company or lease and how often you expect to be home. And Prime is always hiring.
