Damon meant that this was the last time Blur would waste their time by playing at Coachella. They are definitely not ending live performances based on the stoned fans watching them there who aren't accustomed to greatness.
A few nights before Coachella, I attended the sold-out Blur show at Pomona near LA along with a couple of thousand fellow Blur fanatics. The band were rapturously received, and the fans sang along loudly to these tunes that they loved. I guess that it's shows like this that keeps them coming back to America to tour. Perhaps Coachella was so lucrative to them that they played it despite the presence of a mostly indifferent crowd.

Blur has never had an easy time with America. This goes back nearly 30 years at this point. Go look up the live show they played in Denver in 96 on RUclips. People are shouting "FISH AND CHIPS" from the crowd and making fun of Damon's accent the entire set and he just looks completely defeated by the end. Admittedly, even as a huge American Blur fan, even I kind of snickered at the fish and chips chant, but of course they don't want to tour here. We have proven time and time again that if it isnt Song 2 we don't want you. Its fucked up because I love Blur so much and would kill to see them play live but the rest of the country (obviously not literally all of it there are some real Blur fans here) just has never cared for them the way I think they deserve.

Americans have the worst taste in music. I'm American but I also had Irish immigrant grandparents so I had that kind of connection with UK music from my mom. That being said, it wouldn't bother me so much. Some of my personal favorite musicians that are American absolutely blew up in the UK. Tori Amos for example. Meanwhile, people over here love stuff like Nickelback and other redneck type rock or terrible pop country. I don't take it personally anymore 😂

I am a yank and followed blur since early 90s. Most Americans don't know them outside Song 2 (they know the song but not the band) and maybe Gurls and Boys. It's a different style of music, unconventional, often not radio friendly. Moreover their music hasn't been circulated in the US heavily for over 20 years ago. I'll restate that Coachella is mainly a bunch of fake rich punks, but give them benefit of doubt most in attendance probably just never heard of them.

1:40 That's not true really. Their first double A-side single "She's So High/I Know" was a commercial flop, even bigger than "Bang" ("She's So High" peaked at number 48 in the UK Singles Charts). Their first big hit was "There's No Other Way", their second single, which peaked at number 8
As for Coachella performance: I think that the band was a bit too full of themselves to think they would go to the United States and entertain an audience, that probably knows only one song by Blur - "Song 2" (which imo is a bit ironic, but that's a story for a whole another RUclips video). Seriously, their 1992 North American tour should have taught them better

Coachella, once a beacon for true music lovers, has devolved into a vapid spectacle for wannabe influencers and trend-obsessed hipsters. What was once a celebration of diverse and groundbreaking music is now a glorified backdrop for Instagram photoshoots and pretentious fashion parades. The festival's focus on superficial glamour has tragically overshadowed genuine talent. Take Blur, for instance-a band of legendary status and immense artistry. Instead of receiving the recognition they deserve, Blur gets lost in a sea of shallow posers more interested in their next hashtag than the music. Coachella attendees, more concerned with appearances than substance, are a stark reminder that the festival has strayed far from its roots, leaving true music fans yearning for the authentic experience that once was.
