My ex-wife wrote in the 90s Glitterhouse Records reviews. That way I discovered the first record of Monster Magnet. It blew me away. It was great to see Dave Wyndorf staying on course over all the years. He is an extraordinary artist and I admire that he is living his natural self-expression.
Excellent interview JJ, a video version of all the Obelisk copy interviews, I love it ! I could listen to Dave go all day long . He’s a genius in my opinion ! When he pulls the plug on Magnet, he could do a video show . Music, culture, opinions . I’m all over it !
I'm a New Jersey Native, A huge Fan and a Killer BASSIST looking for a GIG WITH YOU! I relate to Your Lyrics, Music, Writing, Messages, and I write excellent Lyrics and Music. I would Proudly learn Anything you have going on future or Present for Any Project. And Ready to Travel...
Love he ride over KISS. Thanks Dave you just moved even further up my respect list . Cheers and stay in good health. I saw you back in the early 2000s in Detroit. You guys opened for I think Megadeth and Motley. (Might have been Maiden) YOu guys rocked, sadly too many people were in the parking lot missing out on an amazing show.
I’ve wondered before what Dave’s kitchen must look like and down to the blinking clock it looks like what I pictured was right😂. I’m not sure why I ever thought of that
Saw Monster twist. They opened for Rob Zombie. They really rocked. Saw them after opening for.Marylin Manson. Dave had some shitty monitoring sound. They tried their best but there were two bands ahead of them. If they had the sound of Manson they would have blown the roof. However they used Monster to do the soundcheck four Courtney Love's band and Manson.
Great interview, as always, but you might need an extra large barf bag when Dave opines about politics. It always amazes me how people who seem so outside the mainstream in their art can be so utterly mainstream in their political views. I mean, h3 sounded like some corporate media hack on MSNBC toward the end of this interview. Please stick to music, Dave.
I watched this whole interview and I would like to add sth about that thing about SPOTIFY -- IF Dave who plays in a band with 561.000+ monthly listeners on Spotify alone thinks he gets - no or not much money - from this?! Something is very wrong there and I'd urge him to talk to his label about this. Our band has much less listeners and gets quite good revenues from streaming -- even while it's not as much in relation if these were CD-sales (but, these days are over) -- it SURE pays some money! This is sth I would tell EVERY band btw -- please, don't give away your streaming royalties to some label!! Unfortunately, many labels/distributors ask this and play it small, but streaming pays pretty much an equivalent to physical sales at some point in a band's career and MONSTER MAGNET for SURE get quite a good sum out of these sales, if NOT -- there's sth very wrong. And sorry, Dave even while merchandise pays an equivalent, you gotta check what's going on in the digital world. (I'd gladly offer my help.) BTW - in a way - really no one NEEDS (esp. big) labels anymore in 2021, if you're such a "big band" especially... but that's another topic. But really, this conversation about Spotify NOT paying is always a bit strange for me, especially from that kind of "popular musicians". In comparison, *our band has 500.000 listeners LESS* -- but if it was just for me alone, I could ALMOST make a living here from streaming revenues -- no exaggeration. But we as a band took care of all our stuff ourselves, pretty much from the beginning. *Setting up an album for digital distribution is just a matter of 1-2 hours work, that's all.* PS: Yes, the Spotify revenues itself could be bigger (!!) but saying they do not pay or sth is just NOT TRUE -- sorry Dave, but I think you better check with your label on what's going on there. Best wishes, and yes you're still very relevant even at 64 years of age -- I saw MM play live in 2017 at Desertfest and no other - I repeat - no other band had even half of the guts that you guys have -- even if I don't like when you call us fan-people motherf***s but I guess that is your NJ-kind of charm (Even tho did Frank Sinatra or good ol' Bruce call his fans mf's?).
I still love ya dude! You, your music, the band! Also... im proud of my daughter ... the next generation taken it all seriously! She's a dj on Stockton Univ radio wlfr 91.7... she got hired at a vintage music archive, and she's helping to keep the cool scene going! She says her generation are way more boring though... she's envious of our super cool generation !! She and I had tickets for the show in phila with nebula , but it got cancelled...she grew up with hearing all this cool music, 😎lol ☮💖❗
I think I’m just a little older than Dave. Grew up on the old Black Sabbath albums. The musicians of Monster Magnet are a gift. Sometimes I think Bill Ward is there with you all.If you all get a chance make a bluegrass song that transitions into a hard as hell hitting rock. Can it be done? I don’t know.
Great interview! Monster magnet are one of the most important bands in the universe.
You said it brother!
Great interview. I could listen to Dave all day. He’s a wise dude. Please post more 👍🏻👍🏻

I've been binge watching Dave interviews. The dude's got so much to say. No wonder he's one of the coolest lyricists of all time.
Good stuff. Dave is a legend. Cheers
Love this, not only because Dave Wyndorf is the greatest but this is a great conversation. Thank you JJ & Dave!

Bro I need to know how you got in touch with him. I need to interview him myself!!!
I’ve wondered before what Dave’s kitchen must look like and down to the blinking clock it looks like what I pictured was right😂. I’m not sure why I ever thought of that
Not to take away from the interview but the flashing clock on the stove urg lol
Is Dave friends with Kevin Smith? I heard Red Bank and comic books, so I have to ask.
Hes a regular on the TESD podcast, which is on Smith’s network.
He's aging nicely like Stephen Tyler
Dave hits it on point. Manufactured music. Just send it. Just go to the store, and grab shit cause it looks cool. Listen to it and see.
Weird stuff... you have never seen before. Buy it and play it...
Worry about the Epsilon variant.
Worry about arresting Klaus Scwab.

It's ok to walk outside.

How's Joe Biden doing for you DAVE
I hope Dave quits smoking cigs.
I think this guy's kid should be investigated. "Broke his skull, broke his leg". Abuse.
Don't talk politics please.you don't have a clue.
How's Biden working for you.😂😂😂😂
That whole part of the interview was so fucking cringe but than he did say something sort of smart about the extreme left.........kind of.
