She was offered an opportunity to be a back up singer for these series of concerts and she jumped at the chance to perform with Pink Floyd! That is a demonstration of respect that this band carried!
I was lucky enough to see them at Earls Court for this tour. I was 18! Will never forget it. Still by far the best gig I have been to. I will always remember the deep bass that accompanied the opening guitar chords on Sorrow. I swear I could feel the bass vibrations bouncing off my internal organs!
I was 14 and was in a daze, had no idea that music, visuals and light could be combined in that way. it still is pretty much the one of the best experiences of my life. And for a moment was terrified that the circular screen was falling.

There were over 14000 people in this arena. I saw them in Houston Texas in Rice Stadium, so I know how that sound was in an outdoor setting. I can't imagine an indoor venue sound, especially this performance. This is IMO, the very best performance of this masterpiece, there ever was or will be.

The song embarks on an emotional journey into one's past. David Gilmour wrote the music while he was working on a solo album in 1978. He brought it to The Wall sessions and Waters wrote lyrics for it. While many people thought the song was about drugs, Waters claims it is not but rather about an illness he got as s child. However, In the movie "The Wall", this plays in a scene where the main character, a rock star named "Pink," loses his mind and enters a catatonic drug and alcohol induced state before a show. The Doctor arrives and injects Pink with counter acting drugs. The doctor believes that he is in pain, but Pink tells him he's not. There is no pain. He completely exists in a state of mind-numbing peace from the drugs as is expressed in the lyrics, "A distant ship, smoke on the horizon" as he is floating in his state of drug-filled peace. He is … “Comfortably Numb.” The main theme is the distance between our minds perception of reality because of artificially induced relief. Remember, this is only how it plays out in the movie "The Wall." Great Song.

Roger is currently touring with his This is not a Drill show. Very different from a Floyd show but still a great experience. Nick Mason has been touring as well - but that tour may well be finished now.
I was fortunate enough to have been there - and not just at the concert, but dead center of the 11th row at Arrowhead Stadium in 1994 (I stilldon'tknowhowwe scored such awesome seats) - and I could weep for your not having gotten the chance to experience that show in person. The concert video is one of the best ever made, and I've watched it all the way through dozens of times. But being immersed in the middle of the live performance was beyond description. If seeing the video were like standing under my shower, being inside the show was like having Niagra Falls thundering down on me - for three straight hours!! It's been almost 30 years, and more than half my [present] lifetime ago, and it still brings a tear to my eye every time I see a video from it. I was extremely fortunate to be there, with some of my best friends around me, and I knew then that I'd never see another show that good again for the rest of my life. I've been to a few other great concerts by some of the top bands in the world, but none of them has held a candle to that show. 91,000 lights, huh? I hadn't heard that, but I can believe it. I don't know how many $millions they spent on the three complete stages & equipment sets that leapfrogged their way around the world that year, but they definitely got their money's worth. LOL, when I get to heaven, one of the things I think I'll ask for is to see that show again! I think they did do one final show together, live at Pompeii. I wouldn't look for them to do another tour though; the original members who are still alive are around 80 years old now!
I am privileged to have seen Pink Floyd with Roger Waters 3 times in the 70s and 80s, Roger Waters at Yankee Stadium, performing "The Wall" and David Gilmour at Madison Square Garden a few years ago. Each show was epic.
3 rows back, on the floor, LA sports arena. David did this solo standing about four stories above the stage, atop the "wall" structure. I had brought BINOCULARS having ever been anywhere except nose-bleed-sections at concerts. I watched his face as he played, and saw what I presume to have been sweat on his lip. And he looked down AT ME. Licked his lips and squinted since I assume in the glare of the lights up there, he would have had trouble making out the black thing in front of my face. For an instant it was just me and him.
Pink Floyd changed my life also way back in 1973. YES girl fifty years ago.... "Back when you were a gleam in your parents eyes....." You my love have great taste in music. And you have a good ear. O.K. Millie disco/ mirror ball time. And boy-howdy do they have one!
It’s a winner ever time Millie every time I listen to our Dave G what a master of the art he is not forgetting the rest of the band who are special in their own right ,,,,🥰 timeless
A great React Dear, i appreciate that between musicians... you know, i'm an old bassist, i'm starting in 1982 with my master Mentor, Sir Steve Harris (from Iron Maiden) until now with evolution in Metalcore & others genres of Metal (Jinjer, BMTH, Architecs, Falling In Reverse)...SO... when i play this Comfortably Numb, i just always thinking that David's first solo and the most beautiful short guitar solo in rock history... every time (for thousands of times) I've had a deep feeling and chills for 40 years, and over and over again every time (and this album The Wall is a total addiction). Thx so much about your great job here, you can be proud to your feeling. Salute from France, keep safe Girl.
Perfect analysis, if I say so myself. Pink Floyd changed my life for the better a long time ago. Every time I hear this version of Comfortably Numb, that solo just rips so much emotion out of me. I can't control it. It is the definition of beauty. Have a great day! :)
As a 58 year old, love that you like the music and this concert performance in particular, David Gilmour's guitar playing is wonderfully emotional and he really is a genius Millie. Thanks 😉
I love how, in this song, they integrated that nautical music theme into it, like boats floating on the waves. It's a perfect fit with the lyrics about coming through in waves and distant ships out on the horizon. The lighthouse lamp on stage and the mechanical jellyfish slowly floating over the audience are great touches, too.
I must say how I love your passion and especially, your insight of various technical aspects about their stage performance. Happy to have smashed your like and subscribe buttons 👏👍
Hell-o is there anybody in there??? You are only coming thru in waves!!!!..... Millie my dear you cannot get too excited listening to Pink Floyd, not possible - just a normal reaction. You are O K.!!!!! This is some of the best rock music ever. I have become comfortably numb!!!! And David does his guitar magic! So special...... Just like YOU!!!!!...........
Thanks Millie for reacting to my favourite Pink Floyd song. I love DG guitar on this and as you have pointed out, the special effects at this concert really are spectacular. I've loved Pink Floyd since hearing the Dark Side of the Moon album as a kid in the. early 80's. Would have loved to have been at this concert.
I want to experience this with you!!! Pink is one of, if not the best Rock band EVER! One of the many things I enjoy about this band. Is they are so laid back & relaxed. For a long time I thought it was about dope. When I was a child, I would get fevers, I would be delirious as my fever broke. So I can relate to these lyrics.
I love your reaction full of joy and your analyse very on point ! You totally understood the meaning of the lyrics and your analyse of music and light show is perfect. This song is a masterpiece and this version is the best guitar solo ever.... reacted by the most beautiful person. And I have the same wish as you about Roger and David.
Millie, it does my soul good to see young people such as yourself keeping this great music alive. I was fortunate enough to see PF in the 80s and 90s (sadly without Roger), and their stage shows are amazing. I have seen Roger many times as a solo artist, and his stage shows are equally as impressive. Rock on!

Excellent analysis. Your knowledge is incredible! Congratulations, especially for not interrupting the solo, it would be sacrilege. You got my like and my subscription.
Syd Barrett said in 1967 " what this band needs is backing singers and a brass section " visionary . First 2 LPs worth a listen Barrett was a visionary
I’m sure others have or will comment that David didn’t write the lyrics, at least most of them. I think he contributed a few words here and there. But he wrote most of the music, actually for a solo album before The Wall came out I believe. He was just humming the verses, as he wasn’t someone who came up with lyrics easily. But if you take the music away, just lyrics, it’s a sorta okay poem. If you take the lyrics out of the music, the music will still make you cry. Together it’s perfect, so I won’t choose. But I do have a preference and it’s David by a mile. Every note somehow says a million words, for me.
This is earls Court London 🇬🇧. UK. Pulse live 1994 . I was lucky enough to be there fir that concert so emotional pink Floyd are a British national treasure legendary.
At this point the band had been performing for almost thirty years and this was way back in 94! There were only two members of the original band on stage, but the magic had been kept alive and is still making new fans every day! ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) , the same people who brought you the original special effects of the early Star Wars movies put some effort into making this amazing light show!!! A lot of talent went into making this one of the most captivating performances in all history. I think I like it more every time I'm taken along with it to another dimension of time and space.
Also. Roger is the opening singer when the song begins. But it's the lead guitarist, David Gilmore, throughout his guitar riffs and especially the solo not to mention his voice, that brings Rogers lyrics to life!
I can write a book about Pink Floyd how they changed my life for the better. Mainly David Gilmour's guitar playing. But let me throw just this out there. At 14:07 of this video, you will understand why a guitar magazine deemed David Gilmour The Undisputed Dean of the Compound Bend and stated that David Gilmour admits he never was a fast playing guitarist but his Note placement is pretty much flawless. I believe Dave Mustaine of Megadeth once said, "David Gilmour can take one note and bend it in ways all other guitarist have trouble doing on the entire fretboard." Not verbatim, but along those lines. Luv you Millie ❣️ Sorrow is a awesome song, Pulse concert. (Hint)
The pinnacle of live versions of this classic song, everything (audio, video, special effects, etc) are meshed perfectly together, best production I ever saw. Try the Dark Side of the Moon from the same show, it is magnificent! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎸🎷🎶
If you miss Roger, try the reunion concert for live aid...it was a sensation, so much tension on stage that I could hardly believe that they could perform like in former days, but then magic happened...🔥😇 The money and comfortably versions are so raw, short and touching, really a must watch if you love the old 4 Floyds chemistry. Do yourself and for sure us😊 a favour and try that historical achievement of Bob Geldorf who brought them together 😍
I first saw em in 73. Picture a 13 year old kid with a beautiful blonde haired hippie chick named Autum McConnell tripping balls 20 yards from the stage in Tampa Stadium. What a great summer. Zeppelin, Chicago, ZZ Top, Deep Purple, The Almond Brothers, on and on. I saw Floyd 4 total. Last in 79. The circular screen was always there. Awesome...
Listen to the first guitar solo, then compare it to the second solo. Here is where the band shows their intelligence as well as their musicality. The first solo is played in the major key. It sounds bright, almost hopeful. The final solo is played in a minor key. It imparts anger, regret and loss. Holy Christ! Both set a context for the previous verses. The first one says "Oooh, Comfortably numb! Not a bad way to be." The second solo says "Comfortably Numb. A horrible trap and a loss of my humanity." As someone said "Their words tell you what to think. Their music tells you how to feel about what you think." Amazing.
I believe it was Hendrix that said, it's what you do between the notes....Plus, Floyd knows how to use the silence, the quiet parts, it draws you in, you pay closer attention...
A curious thing about this song, Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour had a disagreement, (imagine that,.. Gilmour and Waters not agreeing, Haha). Gilmour wanted the song to be a more of a "Rock" song, and Waters wanted the strings and synth orchestrations that the song ended up being. They compromised and Waters got his "strings", and Gilmour got what he wanted near the end of the song when the second guitar solo starts. Notice on the studio version, the strings and synth orchestrations stop immediately when the vocals are over, and it's an overdriven guitar playing the rhythm part, as the solo ends the song. So, they both got a little of what they wanted. The two of them, (Gilmour, and Waters), rarely got along, and by 1985 Waters quit the band saying, I'm paraphrasing here,... 'Pink Floyd is a Spent Entity". Waters was sure the other 3 members of Pink Floyd could not, and would not, be able to continue without him! Obviously he was very wrong, and he knew it. Waters sued the band for their continued use of the Pink Floyd name and material,... he lost the suit. The division between Gilmour and Waters is legendary and listed as the longest rift in Rock Music history. Pink Floyd DID re-unite and perform a few songs at Live 8 in 2005, I think they performed three songs, including "Comfortably Numb". Below is the link to CN from live 8. At the end of the song during the applause, Waters motions to Gilmour, and the others to take a bow together, all 4 members of PF. The crowd went WILD. The band hadn't played together in 23 years att, and they never did reunite after that. This Live 8 concert was the last time they played together. ruclips.net/video/8ZCXnzZMJ1c/видео.html
As Greg Phillinganes ( Micheal Jackson director) said when he saw them in 1994 they were on a whole different level in performance. Thanks to Mark Brinkman who start with the "wall" from then on. Greg later played with Dave.s final concerts in 2006
My brother and I were discussing possible bands for halftime at Super Bowl He suggested Pink Floyd I replied that the audience would totally forget about the Super Bowl
Watch "Sorrow", "High Hopes", "Another Brick in the Wall", "Run Like Hell", "Coming Back to Life" all from the same PULSE Concert. You will be blown away...
Being able to listen to and watch updated videos gives you the ability to experience some things you may not have noticed before. With many of Pink Floyd's songs it can be difficult to take in all the elements in just one listen. However, it can be hard to watch the video because you just want to close your eyes and lay back. BTW: Very nice blouse.
OMG you should check out the reaction of the son with his mom. NOT a joke. A genuine stuff. You DO get the same vibes as that lady. I highly recommend. Thumbs up.
The song was actually written by David Gilmour with completely different and ambiguous lyrics. Roger rewrote the lyrics to make it all about him. it's on here as a short somewhere. David plays the original lyrics.
Y, really its hits every time new and in a way different. I get so much resonance with your life changing song and band experience😍, it really struck me in my youth so deep then nothing else...! The Ufo club sessions with Pinky Syd where state of the art of London undergroundx quadrophonic Sound and psychedelic light animations circelling around the Club walls... People tripped to these effects like beeing on drugs... The cn solo of Dave is like -you know life is a mess, but you still have the lightning thunder of hope-, these emotional gates leaving the suffering needs the right choice when you really know and feel it that there is a higher truth then drama of personal life, symbolised by the opening flower of light life❣️
Marc Brickman was the lighting designer for many large rock shows... Pink Floyd and Paul McCartney were just a couple of the artists. I was lucky to see a Paul McCartney show in 1993 that he definitely was the light designer for, I saw Paul again in 2003... but I'm not sure if Marc did his lights on that tour.
He got sick in his stomach at a concert in Phila The doctor gave him an injection to help his stomach pain before the show started.. He could not feel his bass after the injection hence hands felt like balloons. He played the whole show like this. When the encore came Roger did not return to the stage. This actually happened check out the story a little more. I was living in Phila at the time and maybe I went to the show. It was a high time. Floyd is a great band saw them 3 or 4 or 5 times
Millie, You can not go wrong with Pink Floyd. All of their music is GREAT, all of it ALL......... You, my dear would have fit in to my generation very well. It is your soul and love of fine music.. You are so mature to be so young!!! A special lady!!!!!!!......... David's guitar solo triggers the lasers --- COOL....... Question --- how long does it take to set-up all those lights and lasers??? The stage crew-roadies deserve a raise!!! These men are SO relaxed!!!! And they are cool......... I am the first to admit I am biased concerning Pink Floyd. I want to go on the record saying I think they are one of the BEST rock bands EVER!!!!!! EVER...... O K mirror ball time, release the giant mirror ball..... Was that great, or what???? So special it explodes your head!!!!! Oh my GOD!!!! Take care and stay safe. I forget did I tell you about their song --- "The Great Gig in the Sky"? It is off of the Dark Side of the Moon. Check it out. You will love it for sure!!!
Technically, in the early stages of the band, it was not so much that THEY wanted lights to enhance their shows. It was one of their college lecturers [ Roger, Rick & Nick were architecture students at Regent Street Polytechnic, it allowed them access to free rehearsal space ] who wanted to develop light show technologies, and used the band to provide the musical background to his works. They became 'House band' at the nearby UFO club, along with 'Soft Machine', which is where a lot of the 'psychedelia' references originate. They had Syd's short quirky songs, but also a couple of his other longer songs, with long rambling improvisations. To fill a long set, they didn't have enough material, without the improvs. The light shows helped the mood. The band might have been on some hash [ Syd, who knows? ] but the audience were certainly on much stronger things, so it worked for them. The rest is history.
Perhaps you could also investigate the "uncut version" of this performance that extends the original guitar solo by an additional minute-and-a-third, which most of these posted videos (e.g. such as this one) excise.
Hi Millie from Greece! I've been enjoying all your reactions but especially those concerning Pink Floyd. It's one of my favorite bands too. The first Pink Floyd song/album I listened was "Dark Side of the Moon" about 45 years ago and I haven't stopped keeping them in my life since then. It's not very common to see a very young person/artist not only to embrace but actually feel and "understand" the magic of PF. Music written 40-50 (or more) years ago but seems that it was created for "you personally" just... yesterday! "Deep" meanings in their lyrics and amazing mastery and pure genius in each note they share. I would strongly suggest to get a "look" to "Atom Heart Mother" (1970) album. I would also suggest to watch the movie "Pink Floyd: The Wall" (1982) by Alan Parker, which is based on the corresponding album (The Wall). If you don't mind "spoilers" by listening to songs from the album before you react to them, I think you''ll enjoy this! I wish you all the best!
Hey, always love your channel and reactions. Pink Floyd Is my 2nd fav. band of all time. This song live is off the page, I watch this version about 100 times a year and never get tired of it.😊. I would love for you to react to a song called Calling Elvis from DIRE STRAITS Live ON THE NIGHT 1993. It's so epic as well with a few awesome surprises at the end. Anyway love your work. Cheers from Australia 🎸🎸
Seen a few of your reactions... you've got excellent taste! I love the fusion of rock and classical elements. Have you got around to Genesis yet? Try 'Firth of Fifth'. Moody Blues, 'Nights in white satin' and the 'Story in your eyes. A one off is John Miles 'Music' at the proms. That's an order! Sorry, I'm another old git inflicting my music on you but from what I've seen you'll be hooked!
If you like to hear more of Roger Waters's amazing lyrics try the songs The Breavery of being out of Range and Amusied to Death, both from the album Amusied to Death. It is a solo album by RG but has some elements that sound as if Pink Floyd were back together. All the best.

It is GREAT to see you so HAPPY and having so much FUN with this group & video.... You my dear have good taste in music.
“They changed the game”
Well said
Perfect analysis, if I say so myself.
That man has magic in his hands 😢❤
I must say how I love your passion and especially, your insight of various technical aspects about their stage performance. Happy to have smashed your like and subscribe buttons 👏👍
David Gilmore produced one of the greatest solos on record...and twice, in one song!
Thanks for the good start to the morning, Millie - It's great to see you enjoy quality music.
Saw Pink Floyd 5 times. I felt like a different person after coming out of that first concert.
Syd Barrett said in 1967 " what this band needs is backing singers and a brass section " visionary . First 2 LPs worth a listen Barrett was a visionary
Wonderful analysis Millie. Your love for Pink Floyd definitely shows. You must read Nick Mason’s book. Amazing story of his life in the band
Was at the wall concert unimaginable many albums ❤❤❤
I’m sure others have or will comment that David didn’t write the lyrics, at least most of them. I think he contributed a few words here and there. But he wrote most of the music, actually for a solo album before The Wall came out I believe. He was just humming the verses, as he wasn’t someone who came up with lyrics easily. But if you take the music away, just lyrics, it’s a sorta okay poem. If you take the lyrics out of the music, the music will still make you cry. Together it’s perfect, so I won’t choose. But I do have a preference and it’s David by a mile. Every note somehow says a million words, for me.
Best live guitar solo ever recorded
One of the best songs ever made!
From a 48 yo french italian guitarist and huge PF s fan: you re enthousiasm et précision is absolutly brillant ! Bravo sincerly
Love your love and knowledge of great music. 👍❤🤙
Correction: 3 members of band played at Pulse concerts. Gilmour, Wright and Mason.
it's ONE thing to do an elaborate show like this one ONCE. Quite a different thing to do it for 30 years and still make it PUNCH.
Also. Roger is the opening singer when the song begins. But it's the lead guitarist, David Gilmore, throughout his guitar riffs and especially the solo not to mention his voice, that brings Rogers lyrics to life!
Extremely well done commentary. Very enjoyable watch.
Great reaction to my favorite band of all time!
Luv you Millie ❣️
Sorrow is a awesome song, Pulse concert. (Hint)
The Pompeii concert has awesome lights. I suppose this version is off the PULSE tour, of comfortably numb. Pompeii is totally awesome .
The lighting engineer was Alan Parsons, who formed the group Alan Parsons Project- absolutly worth a listen.
The pinnacle of live versions of this classic song, everything (audio, video, special effects, etc) are meshed perfectly together, best production I ever saw. Try the Dark Side of the Moon from the same show, it is magnificent! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎸🎷🎶
If you miss Roger, try the reunion concert for live aid...it was a sensation, so much tension on stage that I could hardly believe that they could perform like in former days, but then magic happened...🔥😇
The money and comfortably versions are so raw, short and touching, really a must watch if you love the old 4 Floyds chemistry.
Some people think every pink Floyd song is about drugs 🤦 it's good for you to deep dive and give out real analysis of music 🎼☮️

As Greg Phillinganes ( Micheal Jackson director) said when he saw them in 1994 they were on a whole different level in performance. Thanks to Mark Brinkman who start with the "wall" from then on. Greg later played with Dave.s final concerts in 2006
My brother and I were discussing possible bands for halftime at Super Bowl
He suggested Pink Floyd
I replied that the audience would totally forget about the Super Bowl
Watch "Sorrow", "High Hopes", "Another Brick in the Wall", "Run Like Hell", "Coming Back to Life" all from the same PULSE Concert. You will be blown away...
I grew up to this in the 80's, my ma had GOOD taste 🥺🥰
Being able to listen to and watch updated videos gives you the ability to experience some things you may not have noticed before. With many of Pink Floyd's songs it can be difficult to take in all the elements in just one listen. However, it can be hard to watch the video because you just want to close your eyes and lay back. BTW: Very nice blouse.
You never interrupt a guitar solo no matter who it is as it's the golden rule of RUclips
The cn solo of Dave is like -you know life is a mess, but you still have the lightning thunder of hope-, these emotional gates leaving the suffering needs the right choice when you really know and feel it that there is a higher truth then drama of personal life, symbolised by the opening flower of light life❣️
This live performance and Zeppelin's stairway to heaven live are neck and neck in my humble opinion.
David Gilmour- Comfortably Numb live at Pompei 2016. Best ever.
Perfect explanation, that is.❤
He got sick in his stomach at a concert in Phila The doctor gave him an injection to help his stomach pain before the show started..
Millie,
You can not go wrong with Pink Floyd.
Most guitarists play notes when Gilmour works every note. 🎵🎶
First song I learned to play on the Bass.
Sorrow, from this concert!!!
And thats why PF is maybe the greatest band ever
Check out Pink Floyd Sorrow from the Pulse concert
Hey, always love your channel and reactions. Pink Floyd Is my 2nd fav. band of all time. This song live is off the page, I watch this version about 100 times a year and never get tired of it.😊. I would love for you to react to a song called Calling Elvis from DIRE STRAITS Live ON THE NIGHT 1993. It's so epic as well with a few awesome surprises at the end. Anyway love your work. Cheers from Australia 🎸🎸
Il miglior assolo di chitarra di tutti i tempi! 🤩🇮🇹
Insieme a quelli di Echoes, Shine on you crazy diamond e Sorrow 😉
The Movie "Pink Floyd THE WALL" explains alot about Pink Floyd and their messages,,
OMG! Millie you spoke during a David Gilmore solo. That was an interesting look at a rock classic. He choose his notes well.
Argentina🇦🇷 love's Pink floyd ... GILMOUR IS GOD 🎸
Do Sorrow same show. Wish you were here is nice too. My favorite too. David is precise. Every note is clear.
Shout out to the backup singers!
Great reaction 💜
Sadly, Richard Wright has passed away, so a full reunion isn’t possible.
Peter Frampton kills this guitar solo. Love seeing him play here. Rock on! 🤘🏻
Peter Frampton? That’s David Gilmour, my dude!
@@kgunitkeese17 , not sure who David Gilmore is, but this is one of the greatest Peter Frampton songs since Who Are You. The man is a legend!
I still have yet to get the new version of the pulse dvd and it’s been like 2 years lol.
You need to eat Acid, and watch the Wizard of Oz in Sync with “The Wall” Album….They somehow Match Perfectly (even without acid)
If you like to hear more of Roger Waters's amazing lyrics try the songs The Breavery of being out of Range and Amusied to Death, both from the album Amusied to Death. It is a solo album by RG but has some elements that sound as if Pink Floyd were back together. All the best.
