A point about this film... This footage was recorded in early October 2021, on an overcast and soggy day first thing in the morning. I initially felt that the images were too dark and I decided to put the footage in a vault and forgot about it. However, upon recent review I decided the footage was quite worth posting, and decided to reimagine how I would present it to the audience. This is a cinematic take on Pennsylvania's most beautiful place in early fall, early morning. This is a chance to see Ricketts Glen in a very unique way without the crowds, in all it's glory, thanks for watching...
Great footage of the Glen glad you got them out of the vault. Thank you for sharing this with us. Love the no pan views of the falls and the angles in which you chose to flim them. You did the falls justice and thank you again for sharing this beautiful footage with us.
One of my most favorite spots in PA. So much to enjoy in PA. All the state game lands,Hickory Run,Bushkill,Delaware River gap,Beltsville...PA has so much to offer.
You would be hard pressed to beat Ricketts Glen for sheer beauty, not just in Pennsylvania but anywhere! Appreciate your watching and commenting, thanks!
Ricketts Glen is magnificent yes, i think that is a perfect adjective for this place. Thank you Julene, I appreciate your comment, and support of the channel!
I'm definitely looking forward to the cooler fall temps myself. I was very fortunate to have this place pretty much to myself on that day, and it really was an uplifting experience, a sensory overload ! Appreciate your support Kaitlin, thankyou.
Incredible! This magical place is a true treasure for all of us. Thank you Gator for using your massive talent to showcase it in the best possible way. Nature and art combined to make a great film.
Will be visiting a ricketts Glen this week.. thank you for the beautiful footage.. it’s added another layer of magic to my excitement at visiting the falls for the first time ☺️

I really appreciate that thank you! This is definitely one of my favorite videos, I'm glad I ended up posting it, I hope you get the chance to see Ricketts Glen in person!
Stunning! The beauty really does speak for itself. So glad you pulled these out and posted it. I plan to do the Falls trail for my 40th birthday this October!
Andrea, I hope you have a splendid time! October is such a wonderful time in the woods of PA. I think part of the reason I decided to put this project together is because I yearn for the colors and cooler temps that Fall will bring us.
When I look back, I can't believe that I had shelved this project to begin with. Not sure what I was thinking. I think this is probably one of my favorite vids I have done now in hindsight, thanks @kellyfollin7407
Amazing photography on this one! It seems like the perfect time to view this, in the midst of a summer heat wave, so refreshing! And the music is perfectly in sync with the waterfalls. Great job 👍!
I think everyone who visits Ricketts is left with a lasting impression. As I said in another comment l am unaware of any trail anywhere that has such a concentration of spectacular waterfalls. Also some really huge trees there too, that often get overlooked because people focus so much on the water. I've been there many times and it never gets old!
This is beautiful. I love how your choice of music gives a certain character to the scenes. I would also love to see a version without any music to just listen to the water.
Nine minutes of enjoyment, where all senses are maximally engaged. Congratulations for this video, the trail looks fantastic, but the composition of the footage is powerful and further emphasizes the beauty of the environment.🥾🎵🎥👌
Thank you my friend, first for simply watching, and second for your observations and comments. Your insights into film making are invaluable, and to have one of the top nature RUclipsrs in the world commenting on my videos is quite the honor, I am very humbled.
I really need to get up to Ricketts. Hopefully we can make it up there next year. Thanks for posting this footage, I am very much looking forward to fall, and the end to summer’s heat.
Ricketts is a 100 percent must see Pennsylvania Park and I am sure your whole family would enjoy it. It is popular though, and is best enjoyed in off peak times. I was fortunate to have the Falls trail to myself here primarily because it was so early in the morning, and the forecast that day was for overcast rainy skies. Thanks Ryan for continuing to watch and support the channel, I really do appreciate it, happy hiking my friend.
@@WALTERZOLNA Keep producing the awesome content and I’ll keep watching! We will also be mentioning you in an upcoming project as well because you’ve inspired this journey!
@@mountainsintomemories that is so very kind of you, thank you. My hope is that one day we can meet up to work on a collaborative project together, I think that would be a blast!
Another wonder video. I went camping in late September. I wanted to go to Ricketts Glen but decided on Lums Pond DE instead. I'll surely be headed to the 'Glen! Thank you for showing me what I missed out on!!!
Absolutely stunning - so glad you ended up sharing this! This is a spot I want to go - saw signs for it on my way to go camping in Loyolasock and really want to explore here.
Appreciate that Tacoma Traveler, thankyou. It's a definite must see park, the falls may be a little light right now due to a lack of rain, but Ricketts is an unforgettable place .
Went there last year 2023 . I came back with some stunning photos , while it was a sunny day , the images would have come out even better on an overcast day like this .
Hard to go wrong at Ricketts Glen. The setting on this day was perfect for showing the beauty of the falls and the lushness of the forest. The only thing that would have been better is if the trees had a little more color, they were just starting to turn...
I'm sure glad you didn't scrap this footage and shared it with us. In the midst of these 90°+ days, I look forward to those fall days in the woods. That's quite a claim you made about it being the most beautiful place in Pennsylvania. After watching this video, I tend to agree with you.
Of course the label of most "beautiful place", is subjective, but I am fairly confident that many Pennsylvanians would agree with that assessment. I am unaware of any other place anywhere that can boast of 2 dozen legit waterfalls in the course of a 7 mile hike. I would love to know if there is one! Aaron, thanks for watching, I appreciate your support buddy, I look forward to watching your next adventures when they come out.
Yup, that's filmed in 4K at 24 frames per second, just a simple GoPro, no editing really. The great scenery of Ricketts really helps out! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Perry Howard!
RUclipsrs - If you’re not watching Walter’s videos, you’re missing out. Walter’s videos are interesting and spectacularly, beautifully filmed. My husband and I highly recommend Walter’s videos.
Tell me you installed a spike strip at the entrance after you got there. But then maybe the crowds didn't show up because it wasn't sunny and dry. Their loss. I get redundant saying this, but great cinematic takes paired with very fitting music! Well done! Again!
I don't mind receiving the compliments over and over again, lol! But in all seriousness, it's my pleasure to share my experiences in nature with any and all who care to come along, and i sincerely thankyou Harry, for continuing to support the channel.
Nicely made!! Beautiful nature waterfall trail!!! That's like 3 days worth of adventure for me!!! Hope to visit in next year or so!! ? Sir, If one is not accostomed to steep rocky damp wet hikes are there areas to stop and rest for few minutes in between falls?? Thanks! Need to know what to expect.
If you have the opportunity to visit I would highly recommend, it is an amazing experience. That being said yes the trails are very challenging. If you take your time you should be ok. I have seen older folks and young children do the hike just be mindful of your surroundings. This is a real hiking trail so not much in the way of benches except at "waters meet" but plenty of rocks and things to sit on to take a break. It's a beautiful place no reason to be in a hurry. I wish you luck!
I've been there a long time ago. You captured it beautifully! I need to go back. Walter, are you doing day trips or staying out there? Thanks for sharing. Peace & Prayers.
I pretty much am doing strictly day trips right now, with the occasional overnight camping trips mixed in. My dream is to someday be able to travel and explore much more extensively but for now my responsibilities and obligations at home don't allow for that. Thank you Gracegarden and peace be with you also.
Hi Walter, I came back to watch this again because I really hope to get to Ricketts this fall. And, they have now reopened the full trail so you can once again hike the loop. Question: Can you recommend a good spot at Rickett's Glen to park and camp overnight to get an early start hiking? Such amazing footage here. Your camera work is beautiful. Thanks again!!
You could try reserving a site at the state park campground itself although they are probably fully booked on weekends, may have sites available weekdays... I believe there is also 1 or 2 private campgrounds in the area as well, although I really dont have any information on them. Depending on where you are coming from you could also try to make it into a single day trip by leaving your home in the AM and aiming to arrive around sunrise. About an hour or so after sunrise is probably about the best time to go in as time is needed for the sun to lift over the mountains and begin filtering into the glen. Other than the official campground you can't legally camp in a PA state park...
@@WALTERZOLNA Thanks! Yeah, I definitely plan to go during the week and get up early to get some sunrise photos. I was hoping there was somewhere I'd be able to park like you can for the Appalachian Trail and just sleep in my van overnight. BTW, love your video quality. I'm blown away by how you're able to get that quality from a GoPro. I haven't begun to delve into videos yet, but want to do so now that I'm retired and have more time. Thanks for the reply. Have a great week.
I would love to visit here but keep reading that there are very dangerous spots along this waterfall trail hike. Things like you have to hug the side of a cliff with a big drop off. Were there a lot of scary spots along this trail and how long did it take you to complete the whole thing? It looks so beautiful though. Thank you.
I think the basic waterfall loop is like 4.5 miles. I would classify the hike as difficult but not dangerous. I know of a woman who had concerns about doing this hike with her 3 younger children, but recently completed the loop and said that it was challenging but not as terrifying as she had feared. So I guess it really depends on your fitness level and hiking experience. There are a lot of stone steps and steep sections and I wouldn't try it in any kind of wet weather, but many thousands of people from young to old complete the loop every year. I hope you are able to get out there someday and thanks for the question and comment!
