    heads up on the giveaway, there are NO subscribing/commenting and/or liking of this video in order to enter (same with all of the socials linked) and I also purchased the Black Series helmet with my own money/not sponsored. sorry I didn't clarify in the video! also the video quality kinda sucks cause I had manual ISO and eye autofocus on bleh

    How do you find the accuracy of the paint job on the BS (other than not layered) I was thinking of using one as reference.

    • @vaultfox
      @vaultfox  2 года назад +1

      I'm actually not sure, because the whole time I had it out I never compared the BS helmet to the screen-used one, just my helmet (which is NOT screen accurate in the slightest lol)

    I actually like the look of your helmet It looks really good compared to the black series one which is not bad looking, but there's just a certain type of satisfaction when you know that you made it with your own two hands. And I think that it.s very nice of you that you do these giveaways.

      yeah, I def am partial to mine and would always advocate if people are able to, to give making it yourself a try. but I know it's just not possible for everyone so this is a good option for them :) and thanks! I've been meaning to do more giveaways here but have just been kind of all over the place with life but I hope to do more!

      and ahhhh thank you SO much, that sounds like such a cool idea? I've been kicking around the idea of making a 332nd trooper mando myself!

    Hey there! Awesome videos. im using your ideas to make my costume and my girls. I have a 3d printer coming soon. Anyway, i have a question about these black series helms and yours, me and my woman have tiny heads....shes 5'5 and im 5'8 and we ordered both helms. Anyway, I keep seeing posts about the helms being too small, but I can literally wear a youths baseball cap because my head is too small for an adult cap.could you give us an idea of the size of these things because I think we are gonna be bobbleheads! Thx!

    • @tiger7634

      Lol ok I just realized you did messure your head.

    • @vaultfox
      @vaultfox  Год назад

      hey no worries! yeah, the inside of the BS helmet has a rigging system that can make it smaller to fit small heads, but it'll still be kinda a bobblehead due to the size of it. also good luck on your costumes!!

  • @TheJedi270
    @TheJedi270 9 месяцев назад

    You did a bang up job! Your weathering is more accurate as chipping will be felt, not one smooth coat. All of my black series helmets get a weathering job immediately. Hasbro does fine for those who don’t care but real wear can be felt. Plus you can “see the layers and that’s where the rubber meets the road.

  • @TheJedi270
    @TheJedi270 9 месяцев назад

    It’s. So not worth replacing the visor. The factory one has a weird shape and it’s very difficult to recreate. I had a death watch helmet that the visor broke. I actually was successful but I don’t recommend doing it if you don’t absolutely have to.

    I had to learn the benefits of a detachable rangefinder with my Boba Fett helmet. I was lazy once and did not remove it after an event. Just put in its bag (which is soft, but I paid attention not to lay anything on top). Still, when I took it out of the bag at home to check on the whole costume - the top happily rummaged around in the bag. Nothing a little bit of epoxy glue could not fix...but still. Worst thing: I made the earcap removable and the rangefinder is attached with one screw. Yeah...never will do that again.
    By the way: I much prefer your way of painting to the Black Series helmet. I have the Boba Fett Black Series ESB and my self-made weathered Mandalorian Boba Fett helmet to compare (approved by the Mandalorian Mercs). And even my mother-in-law, who knows nothing about costume accuracy, Star Wars or Boba Fett said that mine looks like actual metal. Due to the meticulous paintjob, I guess. And let's be honest, it gives you real good feeling if you can say "I made this and am proud of it."

    Just completed my 3d printed clone helmet after 3 years trying different materials and got to wear it at London comic con a couple of weeks ago. My wife kept saying hurt buy one it will be cheaper, but kept telling her it's the satisfaction of doing it myself, so much better than taking out a box and saying right what's next

    Hello Vaultfox, I was wondering what settings you use for your helmets in order to make them durable? Currently I am looking to print a helmet and am thinking of doing a wall thickness of 1.6mm and infill of 25 percent. Does this sound durable or overkill? Thank you

    I like how you described cosplay as being for everyone. It's a hobby that everyone can enjoy. Scratch building isn't necessary. I'm more of an in-betweener. I don't sew or make my own castings but I have spent time assembling costumes and modifying them to get what I'm after.
    Everyone has a different skill level and there are options out there for them.

    • @vaultfox

      Thank you! I'm an in-betweener myself these days ... I used to sew a lot of my costumes early on but realized it wasn't really my "thing" and would rather commission/purchase those parts to focus on the stuff I do enjoy!

    Loved this comparison video! I honestly prefer your 3D print over the black series.
    You mentioned wanting to do a custom mandolorian, for ease you could look at making a silicone mould out of your current helmet and roto casting. Could save you so much time sanding and priming etc in the long run and it's so much fun learning how to do it.
    Happy cosplaying!
