    Considering that Shuttle used SRB's (which don't turn off), had no escape system, and required so much to go right on both launch and landing... its absolutely amazing we only lost 2 Shuttles.

    those are one set of two, aft pitch thruster exhaust ports. there is another set on the other side.

    What are the six burst discs that burst between 0:05 and 0:07 to the right of centre frame? I've never seen them before, what do they do? are they Auxillary power units decomposing Hydrazine that power the hydraulic actuators that gimbal the 3 orbiter engines SSMEs? I can't find any info on these online, so any help would be appreciated.

    I remember watching a night launch on television with an ex girlfriend who happened to have blonde hair, she wanted to know would the astronauts not want to be able to see where they were going, ...... we didn't last long after that.

    Christopher Ferguson? Than it was the mission STS-126 and the date was 15th november 2008.
