Hard to believe that since '04 when we shot this vid that I'd finally learn for myself the meaning of this song. Country music...it's just good ol' songs for the soul.
I just had the pleasure of seeing Trace live for the first time. There was a vet in the audience, in the front row. The way Trace just paid homage to him, was so moving, it brought me and my daughter to tears. My dad was a vet, we just lost him a little over a year ago, and he always like when the vets were honored for their service. Trace is the real deal for sure and the whole place gave that act of kindness a standing ovation. He has a great show, and rocked out The Ridgefield Playhouse. God Bless you Trace.❤️😘🌹

Damnnnn this man just does something to me....
I am a black guy from the Bahamas who went to university in the south where I fell in love with country music. Friends wrinkle their faces all the time when I start singing a 90s hit. This song came out and finally explained why I LOVE COUNTRY MUSIC!
Trace is the real deal all the way around. He prodigiously supports Wounded Warriors, and before he hit the big time, he worked as rough neck on an oil platform. Everytime I've seen him interviewed, he just comes across as genuine and down to earth. And, most of all, this man CAN play and sing.
The BEST version I have ever heard! Trace's interpretation and compassion elevates this song even more and the musicians were spot on.
Trace Adkins is cool, period. They say there are no more heroes, but I see him as one.
