@@glitchFan2428in Indonesia, there is a Tokyo Metro 05 series that sounds like C151 GTO and in japan, a JR Kyushu 305 series that sounds like c151 PMSM
“Bahn” does not translate to train, but road or lane. “Autobahn” is therefore “car lane”. But “Die Bahn” is indeed the train, but it is a shortened version. It doesn’t translate to train. It comes from “Eisenbahn”: Iron road. So “Strassenbahn” means street lane. But as “Bahn” is generally understood to be the train, I can imagine to name the tram “Strassenbahn”, is inspired by it.
In Lisbon, on our metro system, we have a lot of trains with GTO. Mainly the ML95, ML97 and ML99 units (with a blue interior color). They sound amazing but the ML90 (with a brownish orange) has a slightly different sound. It sounds even better! The ML90 also has air powered doors and are really agressive. Sadly though, they're being retrofitted with electric systems to close slower and to be quieter 😡. Thankfully no GTO motors were hurt. You should also check the CP 2300 and 2400 units. They run on the Sintra Line and sound epic!
Hmm, listening carefully with earphones, it does sound like it uses the same (if not super similar) inverter profile as the C651. I could hear some frequencies on the tram that you could only hear on the C651 if you used a Moha radio (/inductor recorder). Quite an interesing video!
Perhaps instead of phasing out the C651 completely, one or two can remain behind (albeit upgraded, without also altering the motor) as a sort of Easter egg.
Interestingly these trams were not made by Siemens but by ADtranz, so the traction equipment might be ADtranz. But there is still a strong possibly that the traction equipment was ordered from Siemens, given the sound similarities. There are also the trains on the Copenhagen S-train network which also have similar traction motor/inverter sounds to the C651.
The Traction Equipment for Munich, Nuremberg and Augsburg (All Bavaria) for the MAN/AEG(later ADtranz) GTx-Family was delivered by Siemens. For example in Berlin the have AEG Traction Equipment, in Bremen it was delivered by Kiepe, so the sound is different between these Cities.
It's the ADtranz GT8N2 delivered to Nuremberg and Munich. In Munich it's also called R3.3. Later in the Video you can see a R2.2 with similar sound, also in use in Nuremberg and Augsburg (All GT6M from Augsburg will be transferred to Zagreb, Crotia)
Very similar to the C651, but its a LRT version
Indeed
C651 junior

C651 motor sound with a hint of MSG
Mmm
Lisbon and NYC have their C651's distant cousins as well.
Lisbon: ML95/97/99, Carris 501-510
NYC: Subway R160B 8843-9102, PATH PA-5
It does sound close to Siemens C651 when leaving the station and when braking
Indeed, such a nice sound

Just north of Germany in Copenhagen, there's too a bunch of similar sounding trains running on the S-tog network ))
Maybe I'll try that out someday
I think one of the Korean train models sounds more like the C651 with the KHI style
Ohh nice

Thank you, I will 👍🏻
Just like the C321 in Taipei
Hmmm familiar
The trams here have surprisingly quiet C651 motors, but in Singapore they sound like they are very old and produce a lot of emissions.
It sounds nicer in Singapore in my opinion, much louder and raw

The propulsion sounding is more like high pitch and futuristic sounding
