    Hi Jessica! Love your content and looking forward to see how you explain this shift in SASS, your channel has a ridiculously great production quality.
    I'm curious about something, more from a 'creator' angle, something I'm struggling with that is a roadblock of sorts. As a creator you know that others have content that talks about what you're about to talk about. But you make the decision to make it.
    I guess this is a question of what drives you, or rather how this knowledge of other-content that covers what you want to cover doesn't discourage you? Is it the fact that different people want different things? Or is it that you WANT to do something and the content being useful/informative/entertaining is a type of bonus?
    Than again, I already use @use and @forward, yet I want to watch this video to see what I've missed, or if you know something I don't yet. Perhaps I've answered my own question in part...

    • @TheCoderCoder
      @TheCoderCoder  3 года назад +4

      That's a great question! The way I see it, if you see videos on a topic you want to do, that's actually a good indicator that there is interest in that topic. And everyone explains things differently with their own style-- so some people will resonate with certain creators more than others. It's kinda like watching a TV show or movie-- people have different likes and dislikes. So even if someone has created a video on the same topic, you still can put your own unique spin on it. Hope this helps!

    The problem I've got is the live sass compiler extension I use in VS Code doesn't support the @use or @forward. I just get a compile error. It's fine when I use the import function though. I'm using the compiler by Glenn Marks, and even though it's recently updated, it doesn't support those newer functions, unless I've missed something. I can't be bothered to install another compiler, I want it kept simple.

    • @TheCoderCoder
      @TheCoderCoder  11 месяцев назад

      hmm, I've been using Glenn Marks' Live Sass Compiler for quite a while now, and it's never had a problem with @use and @forward. Maybe check that the extension is up to date, or perhaps you have a syntax error in your Sass?

    • @TheCoderCoder
      @TheCoderCoder  3 года назад

      I don't have a dedicated video for CSS custom properties yet, but I am using them in my dark/light toggle Frontend Mentor series!
      I set up the colors using custom properties so that I can change them via JS. You can see how I set it up in this video at minute 19 -- ruclips.net/video/nI0BfXFjI1I/видео.html

    This is great and all but about bootstrap 5 and dart sass there's no videos on this topic. Whats the story with this cause I'm using bootstrap 5 the old sass way but how do i do it with dart sass being bootstrap already is using the old syntactic. I need help and the uikit I'm using that has bootstrap 5 is using the old sass way @import.

    • @TheCoderCoder
      @TheCoderCoder  Год назад

      From what I can tell, Bootstrap won't use the new Sass modules with @use and @forward until v6. On the Sass website, they've pushed back the deprecation of @import much further until more people are using Dart Sass. So I think you will have to use the old way until v6 comes out.

    Hey thank you for this video, this was just what I needed. One question regarding Gulp: Could I use for file minifying and bundling (sass, css, js) just Webpack or where and why should I use Gulp? I know Gulp is a task runner, where Webpack is a bundler, but I what I've seen Webpack can do already very much.

    • @TheCoderCoder
      @TheCoderCoder  3 года назад +2

      If you're working on a large site that is very component-driven then CSS-in-JS might be a better solution for that! But Sass and BEM are good ways to write and organize your styles if you're not super dependent on JS components.
