Thank you really for this comprehensive explanation. Since the last year I'm struggling with understanding the principles that have led to Jungian personality theory and how it has changed through years with different interpretations. Even if I didn't read anything in particular yet (my fault), I'm trying to learn something more every day watching videos, explanations and always taking a look at myself. I've also taken some tests trying to understand how specifically questions were asking something (e.g. MBTI tests and a socionics one, and although I've 'scored' INFP result, there's something about functions that make me think it's not correct). I would like to understand in particular the relation between intuition and feeling, because I'm always driven by overthinking inside more than expressing my thoughts (it can happen naturally in any moment), and only if there're people around me I need consciously in some way to correspond to their desires and doubts and eventually to solve problems through my desire of analysis (and for this reason I think to share cognitive functions more with INFJ type). If I assume intuition is a perceiving function, I wonder about if in those cases I'm more about Fe (as auxiliary mode to Ni) or maybe normally I'm more about Ne because of Fi (I know surely that I like to study and to analyse people's psyche in a dedicated, rational and scientifically approach as much as possible, because I have faith in human brain and I recognize research's values that could be helpful to a better understanding of human nature). I would like to make a contribution with psychological studies in future (I hope so).

I think introverted intuition is like a mental distillery, it is extracting the essences of abstract concepts.

It’s not that you don’t know how something tastes when mixing food, it’s that your not paying attention to the taste and your eating to be fed while thinking of other things. I do it all the time. I can basically eat anything but when I evaluate what I like or dislike it’s based mostly on the nutritional benefits of the food. ;) -INTJ

INFJ- Seems that Ni is the knowing, the answer from which one’s question that can traced quickly backwards through its myriad contributing details to the inquiry. It sees all the paths and options without getting bogged down in their details and instead choosing the path forward, the knowing, and the expression of its desire.
Before I started meditating regularly, Ni would hijack my presence whenever it felt like it. If I was driving down the highway, talking to my boss or ex-wife, just whenever it needed to have its time to do it’s thing uninterrupted.

This is one of the most amazing explanations of Ni I have ever seen! 8:06 ''This why Ni types are the most disconnected from their bodies'' - So dead on....I recently answered a questoin about this on Quora in the INFJ space. I'll be researching something I find fascinating such as your video here and not notice my stomach growling at me becasuse it's been hours since I ate. Or I'll lose track of time and not get enough sleep as I should etc. lol And yes, Ni is not ''mystical or magical'' It's just one cognintive function out of 8 with it's own strenghts and weaknesses just as any other. So well said! Looking forward to more of your videos :)

You say the goal of Si/Ni is to secure and that the goal of Se/Ne is to explore. I think this is compelling but only partly true. It seems to me the former’s goal is to avoid being explored, and the latter’s is to avoid being secured.
We see these tendencies in Ni/Si doms being very private about their intuitions and sensory experiences almost as though to not give themselves away. Ne/Se doms by contrast tend to avoid being controlled or pinned down by external forces, usually by seeking out less restrictive exceptions (via sensory or metaphysical exploration).
But I think the utility of all perceiving functions is the same: gather info and use it for avoidance, whereas judging functions appear to be more oriented toward affirmative or assertive action (not avoidance, but approach judgements). In this sense Fe/Fi and Te/Ti seem to start and remain neutral toward an object unless they judge it inconsequential or beneficial to approach it). Te/Ti and Fe/Fi don’t seem to deal with avoidance, more indifference, acceptance, rejection or integration.

That's actually a very insightful explanation... I think it's very evident if i see how my ENTP friend would do anything at all to avoid feeling trapped even if it's dangerous and any INxJ won't even consider entering a situation unless they're familiar with it to an extent or will not stop unless they get familiar with it to feel at ease.

Great video as usual. I like it when you talk about Carl Jung's perspective on things and translate for us, because quite frankly, the language he uses can be difficult to follow.
Being an INTP, it's hard for me to grasp Ni, but I can see how Ni comes out in my ISTP husband. Too many ideas stress him out (because he thinks he has to implement every idea, whereas I, with Ne, just like to have lots of ideas and maybe some will come to fruition and many will not, and that's OK with me). And he has tunnel vision with his goals. It is often hard to open his mind to doing things differently in the long term and convincing him that it's OK for your vision or goals to change over time. I on the other hand, with Si, have a hard time opening my mind to how things should be done in the physical world, where with his Se, he is more openminded to the physical world.

Btw, I'm interested in how memories are experienced by various groups. I'm a 65 yo INTJ & all my memories are like "time stamps". They're like an abstract gut feeling, in a way. Or, like an inner thought/feeling that is sometimes connected to a mental image (like a vague photo). This has always been the case with me. My entire family were S types & now when we speak about our past, they're very specific with things that I don't even recall .. but then something inside is jogged & I faintly recall that (such as how a Xmas tree was decorated, or what was happening during a celebration). Those things are not my focus, and I wouldn't remember them had they not been pointed out. Instead, I'll remember the vibe in the room, or what I was thinking or what various people were involved with. My S children recall very specific things about their upbringing, such as what they received as birthday gifts, what was experienced on a family outing, etc. For me, I recall the birthday (sometimes) or the outing, but only in terms of the big picture (such as the home we lived in, or the place we visited) & perhaps what was happening in my life at that time. I don't ever hear this talked about when people discuss MBTI, but I find it extremely interesting in how we recall this type of information.

I sometimes ascribe introverted intuition as a kind of inward swirl of object awareness in my mind. A question I would ask well after I knew the answer already would be," What couldn't X be if X were true?" It's inductive sometimes.
I sometimes wonder if extroverted introversion is the opposite of the inward swirl analogy where I would ask," What would X also be if X was true?"
Another thought I had for INTJs, Ni-doms, or hero Ni functioners experiencing tunnel vision would be of Cyclop's superpower from X-Men. Aligning the dangers of tunnel visioning with the fear of seeing the world with one's very own INTJ eyes intersects loss of sight of the bigger picture.

This is a debate. Personally, I believe we access the shadow functions through our main ones, sorta mimicking the shadow ones.

For instance, I do not like or value anything that doesn't make logical sense to me, or without reason. I can give you a reason for everything that I like or value, whereas people with Fi first often just like something without seeming to need to come to a reason for liking it.
