I must confess that I got it right only on the second try. The first time I just couldn't bring myself to add so much ghee and butter. Before I started watching RB's videos I used to make this much dal in 1Tbsp of ghee. Only after I made dal maharani and panchmenl dal ( both pretty awesome ) did I get get the courage to use the required amount of butter and ghee. And the results are outstanding. Thank you.

Okay - tried three makhani recipes in parallel over this weekend - and without a doubt the one Chef Brar shared here was the best (one of the others used rajma and different spices, the second totally different set of spices again). The authentic - "uncontaminated" version here is so delicious - we cooked this for about 6hours and then tried it the next morning - incredible. Now we will practice lachha parathas to eat with :D Thank you chef! (also for the really fun comments)
